Yeah well that's why nobody wants to learn French, they stare you strange when you mispronounce their perfect accent. When somebody is non fluent English speaker (most usual thing in the world) nobody cares about and any interaction doesn't feel so awkward like in French
Glad this scene did not make the movie. Takes away from the exchange between Daffy and Richard. When you travel, you'll often meet people who will share information with you if they like you.
I remember after seeing Leo in Titanic and then Man In The Iron Mask back to back... it was actually cool to see him in a contemporary modern day set story in this. The movie did not live up to the marketing hype but it was just nice to see Leo keep growing as an actor.

I bet this was filmed just in case they needed it but it was destined for the cutting room floor. Slows down the opening too much without really adding much

@@LesVentilateursduQuebec The problem I see with this scene is that Daffy's suicide hasn't been discovered yet, the map on Richard's door hasn't been found yet. So when Richard looks down with a serious look after they mention the secret island, he looks down as if he knows something they don't know. But at this time, he really didn't believe Daffy's story. "You're fucked in the head right" is what he said to Daffy when Daffy tried telling him about it. It wasn't real to him until he finds the map on his door. He didn't believe Daffy until the map was left for him. But the look he has is as if he already knows it's real and is struggling to keep the secret from them, debating if he should tell them. This scene doesn't fit in with the others because of that look he has. Dicaprio or the director may have screwed this one up by allowing that look and response into the scene.
I read th novel. This scene is more sense because it how they interact and talk first time. And how this couple heard about the island. The cut version cause jump story where richard invite the french couple which odd they agree tag along with him

Yup, now you can't swim there and the boat takes you in from the back. Its worth protecting. The Beach is very beautiful.

Ettiene was the only decent character in the whole movie. And I did understand Sal a little. Richard deserved to be shot in the face by the end tbh.
