My friend thought I was wrong for putting this on my list of favorite music videos, but I find so much charm in the simplicity and raw, heartfelt performance.
Bittersweet is a good word for it. There are a million good covers of this song, but no one ever captured the pain of it the way Mike does. I had probably been listening to this song 20 years before it fully hit me
I loved this song the first time i heard the first note, but it wasn't until a break up when I was 35 that I really felt it. 10 years later, it still takes me back there
It may be the way that Mike sings this song that really brings out the lyrics, which, having been dumped by a girl recently who revealed she was no longer and should have never fallen in love with me, really connect with me on a deep level. 'You just kinda wasted my precious time, so don't think twice. It's alright." Very sarcastic and powerful. Rock on, Mike Ness.
sounds at the beginnig like lookin' out back my door by creedence clearwater revival mike ness is the man i think no one is like mike hes a poet with band and distortion guitars i hope in the future we be able to see just people like he real true believers, im gonna fight to be one of them GO ON MIKE NESS YEAH!
There's somethign special about this song that enables whoever sings it to put their own personality into it. Love the original, this is beautiful also saw Vic Ruggiero play it. All 3 awesome but different.
i love the original by bob dylan cause of his amazing guitar finger pickin skills...but mike ness has the sexiest voice to compliment this song...after comin out of a 5 yrs relationship which was kinda rocky this song jus says the fuck u im lookin for without even saying it...the ex was a huge dylan fan and now hes eatin the words as we speak :) bob dylan i love u and mike ness ty SOO much for covering this song......jus learned the chord progression myself so i can cover it as well tee hee :D
bob's dylan's version was more detached. it was meant to be, lyrically at least. It was like looking at the person across the chasm time and saying, "hey, it's alright. we're still cool even though we didn't work out." Ness's version is just heart breaking. It's wanting to be cool with somebody but still feeling all that regret of what could've, should've been. both good versions, but for slightly different shades of emotion.
Seriously Mike got more inspiration from Joan Baez than Dylan? No way thats too fucked up for my taste (the man is posing with johnny cash autographed guitars and rages marty robbins...how in the fuck does dylan not configure into that?)
I'm a 52 year old man and I'm wearing a Social Distortion T-shirt today. Love it!
I m 47 and will be on a Social Distortion concert tomorrow ....wearing a T-Shirt too
45 and rocking it.. my mom.. god bless, took my 9 yr old nephew multiple times to see them.. thank you Mike for the support at that time❤❤
This is one of the best acoustic guitar renditions ever.. 25+ years and this version still rocks..
👍

This is a great cover! Listen up kids! This is how to cover a song!
Shits YEA!!!!
I respect Mr Bob a whole lot, but Mike Ness gave this song a whole 'nother feeling completely.
Sounds much much bittersweet!

The is the greatest version of this song I've heard... ;-;
Facts 💯
I love his version so much. It's one of my favorite songs all time, and right now it hits the nail on the head for me. Gives me goosebumps.
My favorite cover of any song. Breathtaking. The album version is raw as hell.
Just went through a nasty breakup, and I guess I understand there's more wisdom to this song than I ever imagined before.
Good job, Mike.

RIP "120 Minutes." You are missed.
Perfect
Fuck Yeah thanx for bringin this vid back
bravo! !
That's exactly what I was thinking, referring to CCR! Lol!
@somegood11 I'm with you. Dylan, Cash, even freaking Elvis. Everyone has done this song, but Ness thoroughly owns it.
FUCKING EXCELLENT! nothing less... :o)
Johnny Cool, Montreal, Canada
I wanna know why he’s playing a Martin, and not one of his Gibsons. Awesome video, love the acoustic only stuff.
He was 29 here and he's 60 now, time is weird as fuck...
No, he was 37.
When the “ M “ stood for music
Dylan already made perfection, nice tribute though and a good display of respect for the original as well.
fucking amazing!
@Drope182 true believers all the way!
So fucking haunting.
@xunderxdosedx Music is the best medicine and you are on the right prescription for sure.
@MrWer1138
Mike didn't write this. It is a bob dylan song that he covered. It's a great cover, but dylan's lyrics.
@Drope182 THANNK GOD! some realizes
Anyone know if what fret he has capo'd if he has one at all. i cant really tell.
Hunter Smith yes absolutely 2nd fret
I agree with JimWilliams7180 comment 100%
MTV porque não passa mais disso? Eu quero morrer, não quero ficar vivo nesse tempo
mike ness was on fucking mtv??? holy shit
I wonder if Mike Ness knows he’s my secret husband.. lol❤

Yeah its a Bob Dylan song but the reason why Mike covered it was because he heard Joan Baez do a cover of it. Mike isn't a Dylan fan.
Nah wrong man. Maybe some truth
G Em C D
Looks Like Judd Nelson.
Bob didn't write that song
@sunilthegreat i know man dylan its just amazing i was saying that from other mike ness songs in social d, but dylan its like better fuckin best then
Bob Dylan's version lacks the raw emotion and grit that Mike Ness nails here. Much better fit
bob's dylan's version was more detached. it was meant to be, lyrically at least. It was like looking at the person across the chasm time and saying, "hey, it's alright. we're still cool even though we didn't work out."

both good versions, but for slightly different shades of emotion.
21yo Bob wrote this for a 37yo Mike.
@kapslar G, Em, C, D
its a BOB DYLAN song ummmm
Seriously Mike got more inspiration from Joan Baez than Dylan? No way thats too fucked up for my taste (the man is posing with johnny cash autographed guitars and rages marty robbins...how in the fuck does dylan not configure into that?)
Perfect
