Yea, thanks, good to know. We haven't closed the door on continuing with the channel but right now we are holding off...thanks so much for your support and encouraging words though.
Feeding our livestock has become a real issue! I do not feed corn to my goats, but I do feed alfalfa pellets with a little of other things depending on what's going on with them. The pellets have gone up by 25% in just the last year! Hay was scary last year, but I managed to get a sweet deal on hay from my neighbor so it wasn't as bad as I had feared.
All is well! We just took a break and then found that we didn't miss dealing with the negative feedback 😔. It only added stress to my life and didn't need that. Having said that we have had a bunch of people asking for them...we appreciate your support...but not sure that we are going to keep the channel going or not ...
I don't know why the general trend, but for us it's about which breed is most productive/profitable for our market and production purposes. The Rideau arcott were developed in Ontario for how we raise sheep and the way they are managed here. Under good management they can produce more than 3 lambs per ewe per year.
Great videos thanks for posting. We just purchased 25 Rideau/ Dorset ewe lambs and will be needing a ram come December would you have a Ram lamb for sale?
No, i don't specifically have a training manual. I just show how i do things on my farm. It's often different for everyone depending on where you live...what breed of sheep, etc
The milk is available 24 7 so they will have opportunity when the bigger ones aren't drinking. However, I do divide into two pens one for younger and one for older if their is a large age difference between them.
They have access to feed already at 2 weeks old, then when we wean them at 60 days they go on full feed. No bloat issues because they have already been eating it before weaning.
Where are you. Give the camera to the boys. They can handle the camera and content just fine, maybe even better. I have three kids and love their videos and narrative. You don’t have time…
Lol, true, time is a factor. The boys aren't around very much, one working towards electrical apprentice, others still in school or working off farm. Thanks for your feedback.
I sure wish You would start recording more videos! I really enjoy them!!
Wow, miss you guys. So many people are making so much money.
Yoir narration was just fine. You have the right ideas. B

On your feed you are mixing for those lambs , how many lbs. of corn to soy meal ?
Cant say exactly. I know it ends up being a 14 percent protein ration. Probably about 4 to 1
Are the gable barns full of sheep as well?
No, they have pigs in them.
It seems that further south hair sheep are more popular, whereas up north you seem to prefer the wooled sheep. I wonder why that is?

@@valleyridgefarms nice!! I’m just over by Simcoe
How do you make sure the stronger lambs in the milk machine group don’t keep the smaller, weaker lambs from getting milk?
The milk is available 24 7 so they will have opportunity when the bigger ones aren't drinking. However, I do divide into two pens one for younger and one for older if their is a large age difference between them.
Two smaller pins. Or just separation rail in pen!
What kind of rams are those
Rideau arcott
What breed are your sheep
These are Rideau arcott
What shoud be given for fattening of sheep
Grain of some sort usually helps boost the nutrition
Hello sir :How I can get a 500 grams of meet per day ?...what I should feed my sheep's.
Mostly grain like corn and a protein supplement with minerals.
@@valleyridgefarms In fact, I've already achieved 300g and I'm aiming for 500, I think that would be a revolution for me... Thank you very much sir.🌹🤝
Which breed you have
Rideau arcott, it's mostly a Canadian breed.
when do you put them on the bulk feeder? is there a process before you introduce the bulk feeder to prevent bloat?
They have access to feed already at 2 weeks old, then when we wean them at 60 days they go on full feed. No bloat issues because they have already been eating it before weaning.
@@valleyridgefarms kind of like a creek feeder?
Any kind of feeder that the lambs can access but not the ewes.
Red corn is good
