FWIW, as a Yank, Edmond Scientific (located in my home state of New Jersey) is primarily an optics company even though they have dabbled in all kinds of scientific stuff over the years. Their telescopes have always had very respectable mirrors and lenses, so it's no surprise that it turned out to be of excellent quality. BTW, the secondary reduces contrast and light gathering, not so much resolution which is more a function of the diameter of the primary.
I have been watching some of your videos for a day or two now, and i must say that your pictures are making me thinking about maybe buying some pictures of our beautiful universe.
I was thinking to take up star gazing as a hobby, I started looking at telescope, then I saw a couple of videos on RUclips, the difference between expectation and reality, what a telescope can see, made me change my mind, and take advantage of people like you who do all the work, then I reap the benefits. I was watching few minutes ago some videos from Elderox channel , cemented my resolve not to bother and watch videos that others took including the Mars rovers, these images I would never see with the biggest telescope. Take care and enjoy your hobby.
Seeing the rings of Saturn or the cloud bands on Jupiter with your own eyes through a telescope is still a great experience, even though they are rather small, even with an 8'' Dobsonian. I was absolutely fascinated. And the details on the moon are amazing. But the 8'' Dobsonian is a big beast. I think, if I'd ever buy another telescope for just optical astronomy, I'd probably get something more compact without the need for collimation (adjusting the mirrors). Like a "Maksutov" type of telescope.
