My dad hurt my mom when I was like 19-20ish, and then passed away shortly after. I have been level headed but my temper has been insane ever since. Forgiveness just did not seem like an option because he wasn't there to make it right. Now that I am a father of my own boys and 34 now, these type of messages have a serious impact on me. I am religious but church doesn't do anything to help ongoing struggles. This specific group of musicians has helped me through so many outbursts or bad days etc. Internet comments are crap... but sometimes it touches you that one moment so Thank you guys.
"Church doesn't do anything to help ongoing struggles". When will His bride discover His heart? She is lost in the wilderness, and He is nowhere to be found. Meanwhile the mentally ill, both within and without the church, are committing suicide at unprecedented rates. Lord, have mercy on us. Revive us again, oh God.

“To put it simply, ‘Oblivion’ is a story about a man’s search for forgiveness,” Kirby tells us. “The lyrics in this track were inspired by a fan (who wishes to remain anonymous), who had done some hurtful things to people he loved. He felt he was beyond forgiving, though he desired it deeply and wanted to make things right. The chorus, ‘Tell me I won’t be forgotten,’ is his cry to God to not abandon him, to give him peace. It’s one of the more emotional songs on the album.”

That's a pretty heavy story. Sadly, this kind of stuff happens, and many people turn it inward. To fight for forgiveness takes courage and a strong will, because people are creatures that despise change, and to turn to God in such a time is the best thing you can do, which, even sadder, happens even less often.
And this is one of the COUNTLESS reasons why I love FFAK!
I love the song and the concept behind it. But it doesn’t sit right with me that one can ‘sin’ whatever that may be, confess, ask for forgiveness and then expect all to be forgotten. Here in Australia the church is starting to be held accountable for 1000s of historical child rape cases. A priest rapes, confesses his sins, thinks all is forgiven, confines taping. Doesn’t sit right with me
This is not true confession then. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." Word in Greek is Logos, which means "truth in speech and, consequently, in action" - so one must be true to others and, most importantly, to himself. So one must really want to be forgiven, firstly, by himself - this requires courage to look into your own shadow, in Jung's phrasing. Only then one will be forgiven.
Thanks for letting me in on writing and directing FFAK. Being a part of this meant so much to me and provided true catharsis for me to forgive others who have done violence to me. Couldn’t have asked for a better crew and actors too.

So much emotion and truth in this; like a modern day Psalm. This is the story for many of us who grew up in households on the brink of collapse- trying to deal with the wrongdoings of those we loved who couldn't show the love to us that we needed. I spent many years angry at my own dad for the way he handled stress, the way he verbally and emotionally abused my mom and us. It wasn't until we were all adults that I found out his own father had been so much worse physically. How awful it is to be betrayed by the ones entrusted to love you. We forgave him and he finally forgave himself. Now that I have my own son, this song resonates with me on two entirely different levels. Praise God and be thankful that He is greater than all our iniquities.

Do you guys notice how in the memories of happiness and them being together as a family, the lighting changes to brighter colors before the abuse. Then later in the future after the event, it turns to be darker, like the darker times in life that are full of regret.

I’ve been checking you guys out for a few weeks. This video pretty much has me in tears as we speak, and me crying really came out of left field. This pretty much made my spirit groan, and this was pretty hard to swallow. But I’m sure we as Christians have groaned within our spirit for forgiveness and not wanting to be abandoned in times of hardship. I’ve honestly realized I think I’m getting a bit dull in the Gospel, and I’m starting to believe this wasn’t an accident seeing this. Thank you Lord for shaking me up a bit 😭

Generally I think music videos are either stupid or too weird and abstract to mean much of anything, but this one is pretty damn grounded and heavy. It's got a simple story that manages to resonate with me and tell a lot of details in a small amount of time. I really like it. Great job, and great song.

Man I love it so much when i see Christian metal bands that can effectively stand shoulder to shoulder with anyone else in this style of metal. I'm not a Christian, but I respect these guys for showing such ferocity of passion for their God. That's how it should be for bands with faith.

As a person who had to run away from home with my mum and my little brother due to domestic violence, I don't know how to feel about this, how am I meant to forgive my mums ex husband who bullied, humilliated, manipulated and treated all of us like shit for 8 years?
The psychological damage that it caused us is something I would never wish to anyone to go through, even after we left him, he has continued to talk bad about us and is making himself look like he was the victim of it all, he turned everyone at church against us, even tho everyone at church knew how he was and what we had to deal with for so many years, how can a church do something like that? Teach all these things about being good and helping people and don't apply anything when we asked them for help?
All we got were things like "Your mum can't leave him, she married him in front of God's eyes"
Sorry how are we not able to leave a sick bastard who threatened us of killing us?
In this case what is wrong? Is it the belief? Is it just the church?
Maybe God can forgive, but my question is: How can the victim?
Having never suffered the way you have. I can only say this. The way to let pain go the way to grow out of this misery is to forgive. That doesn’t mean you forget it, it just means you are no longer letting this anger hatred and scars influence your life anymore. Take this. My mom suffered from an abusive father. The only way she escaped the pain was find forgiveness and faith in Jesus. Not in the church (which I am utterly disgusted to hear you having that experience), not in people, but in God alone. You will no longer be a victim, but a survivor! :D
