    Happy Tuesday everyone! Hope your week is off to a great start! We wanted to clarify the seating arrangement options in the new Pilot, we originally said in the video that only the Trailsport offers the true captains chairs, however that is incorrect, the EX-L trim also offers the 8-passenger or 7-passenger cabin configuration! Sorry for the confusion!

      Honestly I wish they would let reviewers have access to the ex and ex-l instead. You know, the one 90% of people will actually buy, instead of the "I didn't want to pay for an mdx" trims.

    I had a 2018 Accord, that had lot of the newer infotainment and half digital cluster and the chime (9:04) already, which really shows how ahead of other models the Accord was 5yrs ago. Still miss that car and glad to see Honda stepping up. Good review team!

    I have a theory that the Pilot will get the 12.3 inch screen next year. The cutout in the dash is much bigger than the 9 inch screen. They probably wanted the Accord to get the new big screen first since it’s their flagship product. It also could be because of supply chain issues

    • @blackwhirlwind1245

      Nah, they are probably saving the big screen for the refresh, so 3 more years away,😢

    • @MrMedallione
      @MrMedallione Год назад +5

      Honda is slow in refreshing their screens, they don't expect this to affect sales, their customers are fiercely loyal. So, expect Google-based 12 inches screen in 3 years time, midcycle refresh, in 2026MY.

    • @ledebuhr1
      @ledebuhr1 Год назад +3

      @@MrMedallione In 3 years 12.3" will be small. Honda's chasing a moving target and they're not keeping up. It looks like even an aftermarket supplier could make a 12" screen for the Pilot. I think Honda thinks it doesn't need to be really competitive because its buyers will buy it because, "Its a Honda".

    • @Blank00

    As someone approaching 50, I quite like the new Pilot's old-school and conservative (even dated, I would wager) design, inside and out. That said, the new Pilot seems to be designed by design veterans with many decades of experience under their belt, compared to say, Hyundai and KIA's latest products which designs are decidedly more advanced and progressive. The Korean cars look like they were penned by young, new graduates fresh out of design schools.

    Why would Honda make one of the last "all new" V6's that they will ever make and not include the glorious sound and tech of V-Tec? To me it makes one of the best sounding V6 engine families in the industry for decades, sound average! Most won't notice, but longtime purists of that family of motors (I own one) find it a bit BLASFAMOUS!!! Come on Honda! If we wanted a regular v6 we'd go for a Traverse Acadia or an explorer. You buy a Honda for not only the reliability and durability, but for that distinctive v6 induction sound and vtec! Swing and miss! Still love the new pilot though! Just not the omissions of vtec. Also I'm not a fan of the rear end at all. Maybe it will grow on me, but I'm not sure. Looks like a Subaru Ascent which I don't like at all.

    Love my Accord 2.0 and had it since 2018 with no issues, now in the market for a SUV, I think Im going with Mazda CX 70 or CX 90.
    Road noise is one of the main things, Im giving up my Accord up, I heard Honda worked on this for the new Pilot but I dont want to take my chances, CRV road noise is a NO for me as well.
    Has someone being inside one of this yet?
    Also I dont appreciate Honda lack of interior touches, is barely refresh from my current Accord. I see it as saving and laziness instead of sticking to what works.

When you mash the gas pedal, you really feel it. It is rougher than I would have expected from Honda. Did not see much soundproofing underneath, but also did not lift the vehicle. Still, it is quite loaded and functional.

The limited has A-Trac but the Trailsport modes seemed to work pretty well and sounded quieter from what I could tell. Besides, it's easier & less expensive to replace a timing belt than a timing chain. Timing chains have their drawbacks too. Such as 1. timing chain can stretch 2. worn sprockets or idlers/tensioners 3. worn chain guides 4. timing chain can jump a sprocket 5. broken timing chains etc.. Timing chains don't last forever either given enough miles.

The Telluride checks off every box over the Explorer. I was able to drive a Highlander for a few thousand miles in ‘22 and did not enjoy it anywhere near the Pilot or the Telluride. But considering the trims that you compared, I cannot disagree. I could argue that the Telluride base package eats the Pilot’s lunch though.

    Why do so many car companies still have incandescent rear turn signals. LEDs are cheap enough now that it can’t be a cost issue, especially on a $50,000 vehicle. Is there some functional reason for this?

    Probably the best 3 row SUV out there but no Hybrid is a deal breaker for me. Cant argue with Toyotas 36 mpg Highlander.

    I want more rugged look and able to take it off road. The pilot did ok for me on the trail, but can they handle the off road?? I can go on this trial in my c300 or maybe in my integra. Let’s see some real off road action. For the price!! Let’s get something out the box Honda for the SUV!!

    Great review as always, you are definitely one of the best in the business. What would you choose today Kia Telluride with a 10-year 100K warranty or the Honda pilot? MPG, HP, Interior quality, and price, all go to the Telluride. The resale is probably better in a Honda. Why didn't they make the Pilot a hybrid? I love the fact your reviews are clear and honest. Keep up the good work! Telluride, Mazda CX-90, or Pilot?

    Why do people want huge displays? The most important thing a display can do is run Apple Carplay and Android Auto. I'd rather have a smaller screen that is higher in my field of view so it's easier to look at without looking down. A smaller screen means you don't have to hunt around the screen so far to find the information you're interested in.
    The screen is not for movies. It's for nav information, podcasts, music, displaying basic car information, etc. An optimally sized screen for these tasks is on the smaller side because the information types are not as visually demanding as other uses like watching movies, looking at photos, and productivity work.

    Great review as always.. I don't understand why the removable center rear seat is not available for the Trailsport. May not be a big deal for some people , but I need the bench seat so I guess although I love this car it's a pass for me ..

    Love the pilots. Especially getting away from the van look. Just wish it could tow over 5klb, which is The only reason I had to get rid of our 2012 touring.

    If this had a more powerful mor torquey engine...maybe from a hybrid system you would have sold me. But as is it still seems like just another bland 3 row.
    Though i do like the look/shape.

      Palisade wins hands down unless you want to pretend to go off-road like what was done here.

      Palisade/Telluride wins easily. Go for that instead. They have a much better value for the price.

      both are excellent values and you can't go wrong with either - the choice will come down to what your priorities are. that being said, if you value driving dynamics, go with honda. if you want a softer/cushier ride, go with hyundai/kia. also, you'll have to decide if resale value matters at all and which of your local dealerships are better.
