It's been a while. Thank you all for your patience. I've been very busy these past few months with IRL stuff. I have some plans that I intend on executing this year. I'm batting around the idea of doing a small video on it to keep you all in the loop, but I also am a fan of just letting my actions speak instead of words. I hope all of you are doing well. I'm very glad to be back.

So I am 28, this blackout game/choking game has been around well before 2008. In 2005 a boy who went to my neighboring elementary school passed from it. No TikTok, no real youtube, nothing. You know where he learned it from? Word of mouth. Which in an of itself is scary enough. I can’t imagine how much worse it is now with kids having constant access to “word of mouth” from all around the world.

Send your kids to a good college. They actually will benefit from how it's supposed to work if they're not interested in tik tok, but if they're not interested in tik tok, they probably already are in the smart enough range to be smarter than 90% of their peers, so they probably already will get a scholarship. Personally, I'd love to see the correlation between IQ and Tik Tik usage. I just can't see guys like Sam Harris or Chris Hedges or Noam Chomsky using an app with such basic caveman-like instincts being fulfilled. But then again, social media has become that over time.

I completely agree that it's a parent's duty to monitor their children and what they do online. In my opinion, children this young shouldn't be on TikTok at all let alone browsing without any kind of supervision. Kids might still find ways to sneak and do things anyway, but I think more awareness and paying more attention would go a hell of a long way

Exaxtly this, one day someone uploads a challenge like this, the next day it's gone around the world thrice.
When I was young (28 now) there were no such challenges or very few going around, but we still did stupid things just like those. Like trying to get high on deodorant spray, inhaling N2O, eating slugs or climbing on top of dangerous structures.
We also didn't promote any of that in our school but there were still ways a lot of people learned about those or similar things, just not on the scale it's happening today.

Whoever came up with these challenges should get evaluated. They seriously think of the stupidest and most dangerous things someone can do, slap the word ‘challenge’ on it, and cause gullible children to cause themselves harm for a few likes. You can’t experience clout if you’re dead. These are literally suicide attempts framed as silly trends. It’s horrific. On a lighter note, nice purple glow, it suits the vibe!

The thing is, each person was attached to a harness and a line, so it was much safer in the case of the crates falling.

Hoping many have Thought Twice (or more), after viewing your Stellar Video. I can certainly relate, as my EMS colleagues and I have lived this on a near daily basis, while working in N. California. The blackout challenge has been around for quite a while which means that it's already know on how dangerous. TikTok isn't even for young kids and isn't rated for kids either. it isn't that hard to know that 1. suffocation is deadly or 2. young kids who don't understand the consequences shouldn't be on social media. This is a completely preventable issue that is the responsibility of parents. This is not the fault of the apps, especially if it's an app that is listed as a Teen or 18+ app. Same with RUclips, that's why there is RUclips kids, for the explicit reason to monitor and make sure all content is kid appropriate.

The problem with parents keeping their kids safe, is that kids need phones on them to be safe. So i do believe sometimes kids will always find a way to get on the app. I mean, when i was young, i wasn't allowed msn until a certain age, but it didn't stop me making one anyway and using it. For one, why does a kid under 16 have a social media account? Two, why do parents let them get on these social media accounts. Three, it's the parent's fault for not monitoring their kids. Four, Tiktok should increase the age to use their app to 18 so that no kids get on the site and focus on their studies and not on these stupid apps.

The blackout challenge and benadryl challenge are not new things. When i was in high school in 2000 we were chugging cough syrup and purposely choking each other or for a high. And we learned it from the previous high school kids and they didn't make it up either.
It's awful, but as a parent (and a previous high schooler), even if you do everything you can to monitor your kids and keeping them off social media, kids are stupid and this kinda stuff spreads like wildfire in school.

The blackout challenge has been done by kids as far back as the 80s when I was a kid. Difference was they wouldn't do it to themselves. Another kid would put their thumbs on the arteries of both sides of the person's neck and slowly predd on the sides of the neck while the other kid would try to make themselves hyperventilate. When it looked like the person hyperventilating was going to pass out, they would let go.
They also did the Pam challenge where they would spray their hand, leg ect with cooking spray and light it on fire.
But that skullbreaker one. REALLY???? How could they not know that they c I uld easily break the neck or smash in the back of someone's head by doing that and either cripple them for life or kill them??
This is why kids should not be trusted to make adult choices.
Yet some people insist kids are well knowledged enough to make adult decisions. (Except for crime. For some reason they still think a teen doesn't understand that it's wrong to assault, rob, shoot, stab or kill other people? Please make it make sense.

I do agree with you, I can say though that when I was a kid I wasn't that stupid, I never decided to do those dangerous internet challenges or even more mildly dangerous ones either even though people in my friend group did them, because I used my brain. The fact that so many kids are this stupid is why it makes sense on why adults treated me like I was stupid even though it irritated me. I just don't understand how a challenge with a clearly violent or deadly name doesn't make people use their brain.

@@jamieburton6036 ikr!! Now a days we have to put "do not eat" lables on laundry soap, a d "keep away from childfen" notices on bags??
Tbh, I think humankind has rea he'd our peak (as we are too busy being offended by everything and too lazy from being so entitled that we're not going to bother to evolve any further).
You would think common sense would guide us as it use to when we were younger.
Having lost the ability to be rational, logical and use of common sense is gone in large parts of the population so I think that proves we are de-evolving, and fast too.

For the crates they should have at least have a mattress on both sides so when they fall they fall on a mattress nobody would get hurt.

Why is a 9 year old on social media anyways? It’s sad to hear this happened but parents shouldn’t be letting their kids be on social media at such a young age

We all make mistakes. We have all encountered situations where we didn't know better until we did. However, there's making mistakes, and there's doing a spinoff of the 'BME Pain Olympics' for fun and fame. I feel pity for every victim of these horrendous challenges, dead or alive, but for the survivors who truly don't care, you should VERY carefully observe an activity and its consequences before following a trend. If your friends wanted to jump off a cliff, would you do the same? My mom would tell me this sometimes, and it's a question that could save anyone's life.

You are a very kind person. Most ppl reacted to these challenges (even the more serious ones) by laughing and saying they were stupid and deserved dying. But come on it's children... Kids just do dumb shit all the time, they don't deserve to die for it. We are the ones who should take action on these things.
