I love this tune and not only was John Renbourn a brilliant musician and composer he was a great human being with an overabundance of story to keep you entertained over too many pints! Clive you perform this beautifully.
Perfect setting to play this beautiful guitar piece. John's music is eternal and this would not have been out of place at the court of Elizabeth I. It must be wonderful to create music which will live on through the centuries. Your playing as always Clive is masterful and I don't think anyone else could have played it better. Thanks.

For anyone interested in learning from JR's own tab, Clive's performance is so well articulated and defined it can only be recommended. If I ever learn to play properly, this would define properly.
Clive I may be mistaken thinking all John's pieces can be found in tab - my guitar sheet music was mostly bought in the 1990s and John provided tab & score format for Stefan Grossman's Guitar Workshop series. I don't have the Oak publication which includes The Lady and The Unicorn - and in my Mel Bay book the third of book by John including The Hermit (again, Stefan's editing) doesn't include it either but all the JR pieces are tab. I do not play this and probably wouldn't try but there were all those acoustic guitar mags which published tab in the 1990s and wonder if I have seen it.

That is fabulous. I have always thought that those tunes were better played slower to fully reveal the harmonic beauty of the composition. I have the feeling that your performance is a heart felt tribute to the composer.

Fantastic version, such a great and delicate articulation ! It seems that the guitar is tuned a semi-tone below standard tuning. Sounds great but I wonder why you choose to play that way (sorry for my english).
Clive, how often do you change strings? I once heard Tommy Emmanuel say that he changes them before every show... which seems a little extreme.. but curious about your approach?
Hi G D. For gigs on my OM Bown over the years I also changed them for every show. You need that fresh feel for the calibration. On my recent UK tour I took out 3 guitars - OM, baritone, and nylon. I changed the OM every 3-ish gigs and didn't change the baritone or nylon at all. The older the strings on the baritone especially, the better the sound!
John was always the master of "touch and taste", but you have taken it just that little bit further. Well done Clive.
