I guess I've been living under a rock. My new guitar hero...lol. Now that's how it's done, boys and girls. Where ever you came from, I'm truly grateful. Thank you.
Yeah saw the Limerick show on that tour. Would dearly love to catch them again some time. I loved the way Clive jumped around genres and eras that night like a grasshopper and made it seamless. This blues is more of it.
This man is a beast!! Wonderful ebullience in his playing...my view, actual players in the juke joints of the rural South back then probably had more of this attitude--gin assisted, maybe--than any "museum" treatment...Wow
Wow! I've heard Hendrix, I've heard Rodigo y Gabriela, I thought I'd heard everything a guitar is capable of in the right hands. How wrong can you be, this guy is amazing.
I'm a copycat, only 63 now. After watching I decided this is the song I will be practicing until the end. On my baby Taylor. Never give up on your passion ; ).
I'm the only comment in a year?! I don't know how Clive has kept out of my radar for this long ... but I'm glad he's arrived. What an interesting and amazing style. Every possible fingerpicking technique is tucked into each line. Jesus!
so many nice things already said. I'd just like to add my appretiation to see someone know and be part of what he is doing. ... i can't play that well but see the moments when the music is in the person... part of the guitar... i recognize that and... isn't that what it's about... it is. How we feel... can be heard.
Absolutely remarkable ability to dive deeply into so many musical styles. I just watched him play “Good Bye Pork Pie Hat” on a D18. He really brings his own spin to each.
full of sweet licks to copy and digest! my current fav is 2.54 to 2.57.... this is really refreshing stuff, clive pairs a little bit of virtuosity with great feeling and spot on timing........
Oh my gawd. So unique in the chord progressions. I'm going to show this to my son to illustrate what happens when you choose other things over video games
Well Clive, I was lucky enough to see you perform with John Renbourn in slightly upstate NY years ago. Simply amazing! Bown guitars, also amazing! Love it!!
45,000 views and no comments. What a travesty. This video displays some serious talent and this dude’s got some serious swag and aplomb going. Very impressive! Thanks for sharing.
i’d like to put a foot up the rear of that guy who keeps talking through this whole performance. He’s a guy that would tell them to turn up the television while Beethoven was performing
How have I never heard of this wonderful player? Huge vocabulary, like johnny winter, he doesnt run out of ideas. Judging by his facial expressions he is a really warm personality. I will surely buy a ticket if he ever comes my way. Meanwhile, I will dissect this I. Slowmo, transcribe, learn.
I must have watched this thirty times. CC is an absolute master. I thought I was a passable picker but every time I hear Clive play I realise that I still have PLENTY of work to do...immense, peerless feel and dynamic control. Hats off!
Had the pleasure of meeting you in my shop BEANOS and you kindly gave me your "scudding cloud" CD which still gets a regular airing. Top player needless to say but also a lovely person to meet.
The way he drags time is jaw dropping! I'd kill for an internal clock like that.
That is the best part! Many can play this but the real treat is the time warp. Kilker
you'd rather kill than practice? :)
@@joalco3 Only a guitar string...
After watching this, my guitar decided to put me up for sale.
After watching this my guitar hit me over the head and called me a useless cunt 🙃
Oh no! Don`t let her dump you down! Do not give up, it`s just a guitar, with the six strange strings and a easy to learn fingerboard.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Do you have a 36 Gibson!?
:) Never give up!
His technique is amazing, he’s willing to take risks, has wonderfully eclectic tastes, and he puts his heart into every note.
Thanks for watching!
Extreme talent. Acoustic blues beats electric for when done right. This is done really right.
Thanks for your comment! I agree!
Clicked just to check out the tone of the Gibson, but stayed with it to marvel at the incredible playing!
I guess I've been living under a rock. My new guitar hero...lol. Now that's how it's done, boys and girls. Where ever you came from, I'm truly grateful. Thank you.
Did I just see that ? Or am I hallucinating ?
Have never seen or heard anything like it !!
He is a musical GOD !! :))
I am bowled over by this. Man, that is some natural talent and it looks like heaven to be that good. Whew!
Man! Now that’s how that guitar is supposed to be played!!! That was so inspiring to watch!
Thanks for watching!
Technical virtuosity combined with sensitive musicality. That’s some damn fine picking.
Tim Sparks does a fine job with this tune as well.
Perfectly put
Clive warmed up for Tommy Emmanuel in Cork Opera house in Jan 2020, wonderful player, love that version of that old sweet tune
Wow, I would have loved to see that. I've seen them both perform, separately at different venues. Both amazing.
Yeah saw the Limerick show on that tour. Would dearly love to catch them again some time. I loved the way Clive jumped around genres and eras that night like a grasshopper and made it seamless. This blues is more of it.
I love how he tunes his E string after some righteous bends on it. And he does it all without missing a beat. Hot Tamales!!!
When I stopped watching and just listened, I coulda swore there at least 3 guitars! Phenomenal-
OH MY GOSH! ABSOLUTELY MIND-BLOWING! The subtleties, ohhhhhh the subtleties . . .
This rendition is in itself a masterclass. Simply astonishing skills and art. Clive's playing is so great!
Thanks for watching!

absolutely great, like watching it on and on and on ...
I have watched this video 50 times and he has played it differently and with more difficulty
every time
I think I’ve watched this video about 30 times in the past week. Makes me smile Every Time.
in playin 18 years now, and that is one of the best blues feeling ive heard on a guitar. props man 🙌🏻
Now THAT!!!!!!.... Is REAL guitar playing. Absolute music at it's finest.
What a gift he shares, and now, we have NO excuses to keep from getting to work!
Wow! I've heard Hendrix, I've heard Rodigo y Gabriela, I thought I'd heard everything a guitar is capable of in the right hands. How wrong can you be, this guy is amazing.
you're just getting started mate!
Stevie Ray Vaughan - Texas Flood live performance. You will shit yourself and cry at the same time
Hendrix is just a pop star mate.
String masters have been around for centuries
Yea! There is something magical in that style of music that is both fun to listen to and fun to play, and you can't help but tap your foot to it!
You can see the guitarist play from within on good guitarists, the guitar is a part of him, Amazing
He has just put many many hrs of studying into it
I love watching musicians thoroughly enjoying themselves, even as they produce music for our enjoyment.
Such joy in his playing
That guitar has obviously been cherished, but on that day, it took its first real breath of fresh air
That is some phenomenal playing!!!
I was fortunate to see Clive in person a few years back here in Columbus, Ohio. I hope to see him again. A true master.
He’s a truly marvellous fella isn’t he?!
I just spotted some new dates for his tour.. clivecarroll.co.uk/concerts.html
The best i ever heard...such a skill you have..thanks
He was makin' love to that guitar...❤
Most inspiring player for a long time
Damn! So good, one guy, one guitar, lots of licks, gorgeous.
That some confident playing with time. Hang on back in the groove.
Oh ya ! Masterful playing! Encore!
Incredible playing. One of the best I've heard

Wow!!! Fantastik technique, phrasing and just ALL of it. Absolutely Brilliant! 👍🙏💜👏👏👏
Brilliant. Love the way Clive bends the beat like Joe Pass or Monk would do.
Best version I’ve ever heard, great timing and rhythm, really fun to watch and listen to.

Just fantastic as always...great tune, Clive!
Lovely work.
It doesn't seem possible that a year after it was uploaded this is the first comment on a towering performance of a blues standard. Bravo Clive!
RUclips had mysteriously “held” all the comments...I just realised them (but sadly I can’t go back more than 60 days!)
Wowie those are some hot licks! I love all of the rhythmic variation!
Thank you Clive.

Terrific playing!
holy smokes, this man is a beautiful mind. I don't feel like his audience truly appreciated his genius.

@@kitrichardson5573 lol...guitar players understand this guy's talent. Others are just like.....oh, that's nice.
He was on tour with Tommy Emmanuel around this time. People know how good he is, no worries there.
They figured it out a little before the one minute mark. All the speaking buzz dropped to nothing
Love that quick break to adjust the tuning and still keep in time. Legend
That guy plays the guitar like a god
I am speechless! That was pants down and jaw dropping amazing.....holy sh***
Unreal...played brilliantly and keeps it entertaining all the way through...top class this is! 👏
Glad you enjoyed it
Great arrangement; nice chord and note work; very good finger picking; enjoyed it!
What smooth and fast finger work...enjoyed the show...
