As someone who has no sense of smell, let me explain. 90% of your taste has to do with smell, so when you have no smell, you also have no taste, except for the extremes (ie: salt, vinegar, etc) but when it comes to soda, they fall under the 90% so therefore you can’t taste them.

To a degree. The issue is that cutting onions releases sulfur gas. Which reacts with the water in you eyes and nasal cavities to make sulfuric acid.
