I think this was insanely imaginative and professionally done. From the vocals to the instrumentation you get a good "tribal fantasy" vibe, which fits perfectly in the game. Always will come back to this song.

There's so real talent that goes into sonic plus a great fanbase that's super large... which is why it gets weird. Sonic is a series thats been with me for the past almost 20 years and it will for a long time more.
Tikal's theme and voice are so mesmerizing and soothing. Not only does it take me back, this song reminds me that outside of the rough translation, sound mixing, and voice acting, Sonic Adventure truly is a passionate game.
I really wish that sonic would revisit something like this again. It's nice to see frontiers might have opened up the way for more dramatic and deep story telling like sa1.

I loved that response from Sonic, it showed that there's more than meets with the eye with him. We know him as the blue blur, who comes in with his cool lines as he swiftly takes out the bad guys and bounces, as you'd expect from a hero. With that what he said to Tikal it shows how intelligent and perceptive Sonic is, he knows how to look at a problem and dissect the issues within them. It just shows that there is so much more to Sonic, he is indeed the definition of a true hero.
I have to admit, the reveal that Tikal was your hint guide (and possibly a ghost) was something I should've saw coming as a kid. Then again, it was the one of first plot twists I saw, so maybe it evens out? Also, depending on whether Sonic Chronicles is still canon or not (Damn it, Penders), Pachamac (Tikal's father) seems less a power hungry dick and more a desperate man. Like maybe an abridged version would say: "Sweetie, I get that you made friends with the weird yet adorable jungle critters. But, if I don't get those magic rocks, possibly made from the gods, we'll be *wiped out* by the Nocturnus Clan and their *Killer Robots!"*
Tikal is baby and also best girl and she must be protected.... Is what I would say if the poor girl wasn't dead. Seriously, what a sad story she had. Tikal sacrificed her life for an eternity sealed away in the Master Emerald, all because her father was a war-hungry prick. Tikal made the ultimate sacrifice to save the world and history just, well, forgot her and her sacrifice. Until the events of this game, of course. Even then, poor Tikal didn't live past 14 years. Unless you count being sealed in the Master Emerald as living.
This is genuinely one of my favourites on the entire soundtrack. Some of this music is nostalgic as hell, but this is just fucking phenomenal. It is a crime that the whole of it doesn't get heard most of the time.
As a kid I never paid attention to this song, let alone listen to it. Now that I’m hearing it, it has loads of depth to it. It’s really beautiful. I’m glad I’m old enough to appreciate it.

Tikal the Echidna, one of my favorite Sonic characters of my generation, she is the light, shining in the darkness, the equal and polar opposite of Shadow the Hedgehog.

One of Sonic Team's worst decisions was replacing Tikal with Omochao. Sure she already served purpose in Adventure 1 but so did Knuckles and he's still around.

Only years later when I played another run through of SA on Steam did I realise that Tikal was that flying ball of light providing assistance in the game as your guide. Rather clever and not too annoying like Navi or moronic like Omochao.

she's so underrated. she's very kind, cares about all life and lovely looking. is not hard to know what she looks like in human form. back in the old days there were almost no fan art of her. Rouge over shadowed her because fans and furries were "bat" crazy about her because of her shape mostly.
Just a small musing, but I've had a little thought about Tikal's chant and Chaos Control. Across both of the hedgehogs - one thing they maintain is "heart", which I personally define as compassion and bravery in equal measure - Shadow, in a twisted way, both compassionate and brave in equal measure in his delusions, compassionate enough to remember what he thought was Maria's wish - and brave enough to try and extinguish humanity for that wish. Sonic himself is far more obvious - he has both in abundance! It also mentions a "controller" in the prayer, which could be easily seen as not just someone who can control chaos - but perform Chaos Control, which is a method of controlling chaos energy - bringing order to chaos if you will. We don't see Chaos Control at all in Sonic Adventure, but I think it's something that works surprisingly well as a retroactive addition. One very big wrench in this idea is that ingame the "controller" is specifically referred to in a flashback scene as the Master Emerald, being the intermediary that controls all the Emeralds. I like the idea of it referring to someone who is capable of Chaos Control - who has the heart to control the chaos, but that isn't the intent. It does bum me out, but I am happy I came up with an idea to sort-of tie the two major things of each of the Adventure duology. Thanks for reading, by the way!
Back when the franchise had a very stable fanbase everyone liked what they get and agreed that being sonic fans were a very great experience bit when the dark age all things changed and you know how the rest of the story went

Cutscenes did this song so dirty lol...I always only heard the Intro and tuned it out. It's actually FIRE if you can get past the first minute of not having a real chord progression...You can tell it was written in a way where the first minute is "background" for the VA's and in-game dialogue. The real song doesn't start until like...1:05-ish.

Just a small musing, but I've had a little thought about Tikal's chant and Chaos Control.
Across both of the hedgehogs - one thing they maintain is "heart", which I personally define as compassion and bravery in equal measure - Shadow, in a twisted way, both compassionate and brave in equal measure in his delusions, compassionate enough to remember what he thought was Maria's wish - and brave enough to try and extinguish humanity for that wish. Sonic himself is far more obvious - he has both in abundance!
It also mentions a "controller" in the prayer, which could be easily seen as not just someone who can control chaos - but perform Chaos Control, which is a method of controlling chaos energy - bringing order to chaos if you will. We don't see Chaos Control at all in Sonic Adventure, but I think it's something that works surprisingly well as a retroactive addition.
One very big wrench in this idea is that ingame the "controller" is specifically referred to in a flashback scene as the Master Emerald, being the intermediary that controls all the Emeralds. I like the idea of it referring to someone who is capable of Chaos Control - who has the heart to control the chaos, but that isn't the intent. It does bum me out, but I am happy I came up with an idea to sort-of tie the two major things of each of the Adventure duology.

Back when the franchise had a very stable fanbase everyone liked what they get and agreed that being sonic fans were a very great experience bit when the dark age all things changed and you know how the rest of the story went

Cutscenes did this song so dirty lol...I always only heard the Intro and tuned it out. It's actually FIRE if you can get past the first minute of not having a real chord progression...You can tell it was written in a way where the first minute is "background" for the VA's and in-game dialogue. The real song doesn't start until like...1:05-ish.
