I've said it before, but Beta was largely one of Eggman's greatest creations. +ShadowReaperX07 which is why, gamma, was potentially one of eggman's greatest foils, as Gamma, being low tech compared to beta mk2, but he was determined against all odds to stop eggmans animal powered robots. (yet somehow gets so rekt by sonic) Additionally Eggman did learn from all of this and that is how Omega was built.
+R Mat However the fact that Gamma defeats and destroys Beta Mk II attests to his success in design. the fault with Gamma that also attributes to his success overall that Eggman doesn't see and never really finds out/ realizes is that the flicky he used to power it just so happens to be related to the one Amy was helping, and thus allowed it to gain control/ restrain Gamma. so it could be said that if Robotnik hadn't sent Gamma to get the Emerald from the Flicky he would still be serving eggman and potentially if we look at it from E 102's story perspective, since he would have, assumingly, defeated sonic becoming one of Eggmans greatest successes. the last part with Gammas story perspective defeating sonic can, however, be refuted.
+EnergyBurst2 yeah defeating sonic I dont think so. But wow, I never realized that Gamma was just good cuz his flicky. I agree; the afterimages in his movement plus his parry was so cool. It was nice to see a boss that wouldn't just sit there and let you hit it. You had to time the shot during the small window his back is exposed or else he will parry it. Definitely my favorite boss in the game.
Freaking love this song. So much is going on in it. So energised, yet slightly frightening and jazzy at the same time. There's even an element of melancholy.
Agreed, the Tragedy of brother against brother caught in a battle that will inevitably destroy both of them. Though also in the beauty to both figuratively and literally be free of the cold cycle of destruction that encompasses them.
This is my favorite boss in Sonic Adventure. Not for the difficulty, cause it's piss easy. Just what happens during the fight and the events that lead up to the fight. You first were a servant of a sick evil man. After beating your brother in a laughably easy fight, your creator starts rebuilding him, hurting him in the process. Then Amy makes you have a change of heart and dedicate the rest of your life to freeing your brothers from their misery of serving that fat evil scientist. After you beat most of them, one remained. Beta. It's an epic battle. Shooting giant beams. Dodging bullets. Flat out deflecting your own bullets. Shooting a barrage of bullets at ounce, it's nuts. After the fight, Beta shoots one last attack before dying, and then Gamma accepts his fate, and dies, knowing his task had been complete. Best story in the game. It's fantastic. Absolutely fantastic.

This song is pretty deep when you think about it. Not only that but it also marks one of the most emotional battles in the series, which is ironically from a duo of robots.
Took me years to re discover this theme. Lil 13 year old me loved how this boss fight went, the meaning and depths it had were far ahead of the times. Nowadays I just lay down and vibe to so many classics but this one has a place in my soul for one of my all time favorites.
Sonic Adventure bosses: "Oh no. Ohno. Ono. O--", "OH NO THE CHAOS EMERALD EGGMAN NO" Gamma's bosses: • If you stay still, you die • You NEED your speed • Boss tries to not die • Boss changes attack pattern based on health • Boss visibly takes damage • The fight lasts longer than 3 seconds
"if you stay still you die" "the fight lasts longer than 3 seconds" bro what are you on all you need to do in gamma's bosses is literally just spam B or X, beta mk II is the only exception
I must say, E102 Gamma's story line has to be the richest, fulfilling, and most emotional story line in the sonic series (second place being shadow's of course). Hunting and fighting each of the remnants of the E-series to free your fellow brothers from harm, risking your own life when you could easily plummet to your death and drown, melt into lava, get ran over by trains, bombarded by missiles, and beam explosions only to have yourself freed after its all over. It was just that fight....
This music illustrates an an unthinkable tragedy. Two brothers one enlightened and the other unable to control his mind for he knows not the truth... Are being forced to battle to the death. Due to the evil of humanity... In this case robotnik is the evil one... These robots both have souls but gamma is the only one who realizes it. And beta is just a tormented shell of what he once was. Filled with hatred and pain. And because gamma lives him he walks up to him as he is contorting in his death throes, only to have the dying entity blast his chest open. Then he suppresses his auto repair function. Ensuring that he dies. This made me cry as a young teenager. It's just so sad. To see beta burning for his ignorance and gamma broken both physically and mentally as he "commits suicide"
+Zachary Kenniston Actually that's not quite how the final E101 battle series goes. Gamma was indeed enlightened, but because of that he sought to free his fellow companions from Eggman's control, and so did so by destroying their robotic prisons. His last targets were even stated as both Beta and Gamma. He wasn't forced to fight Beta, he CHOSE to do so to free his brother. I honestly can't say Gamma WOULDN'T have destroyed himself, but it did show that Beta had fired a round off at Gamma up close and ultimately that is what destroyed him in the end. However you are right in how the music feels, and what Eggman did was unthinkable. After all, that's why Sonic and the gang set out to stop him.
I always though that the robots were separate from the birds inside them. And I always thought that gamma was trying to "put them out of their misery" they would have died horribly because if where robotnik sent them. So your saying that the burs and the robots are the same conciousness?
The birds are being brainwashed into operating the robots. Without an AI or a manual pilot, the robots are just machines that do nothing. Eggman uses the forest critters to power and pilot his robotic creations. That's why everytime Sonic destroys one, an animal pops out (something that confused me for a long time). The brainwash is further supported in one of the Sonic X comics where Sonic's friends are captured and forced to fight against Sonic in their machines, but like Gamma, the hedgehog brought them back to reality and who they were. Thus, they used the machines in a different light (similar to Gamma).
This is actually a beautiful song if you take the time to listen. I love the beginning. It sounds like E102's but instead is all upbeat!!!! I'm such a nerd, but let me tell you this. Being a nerd is FUCKING FUN!!!!
Gamma's story was incredibly sad in the end, just like Emerl's ending in Sonic Battle - I can never forget those moments! They also remind me of Johnny 5 from Short Circuit 1 & 2... Even machines can live life ='(
I always cried from Gamma’s story. Still do sometimes. It’s really heartbreaking, but at the same time uplifting. Seeing Gamma as a robot being destroyed always crushes me, but then seeing the family of Flickies including Beta reunite touches me in a way that brings tears of joy. The music doesn’t help me when I start my ugly sobbing, either!
Man that is one hell of a jam track if you wanna practice your A minor scale and jazz licks. It has a nice them to follow up and alot of space for improvisation. Jammed the hell out of this on flute. This song's crazy.
Sonic Adventure has a really good story In all its stories. But damn, Gammas story was for me the best, the other ones are quite similar to other classic sonics stories, but this one was really fresh, you are a robot that wants to free all his teammate series and himself from the robotization, its really a new type of story and deep. For me, Gamma or other robot with that type of thinking deserve a complete game, What do you think?
Thadeus Jab I'm not sure about Gamma having his own game especially since he's dead, but I'd like him to play an important role in future Games. That is if he wasn't dead.
Honestly something about sonic adventure 1 makes it feel like the sort of grand finale for the classic series, I don’t know why it just feels like that for some reason
Gamma's own game? *Oh boy sign me up* Sadly though, I think we all know Gamma ain't coming back. It wouldn't make sense, it'd contradict his entire storyline, being about true freedom.
He couldn't save Alpha, and Omega was never destroyed, but maybe the explanation is that they were 100% robot rather than roboticised birds like Beta, Gamma, Delta, Epsilon, Zeta and others (I forgot how many he destroyed)
Something I noticed about this boss is that he would be able to counter nearly the entire cast if he ended up fighting them. He seems to be even faster than Sonic, given that Gamma is unable to hit him until he breaks down while Gamma can usually hit Sonic, and Beta could also deflect his homing attack with his claws. Not even to mention that Sonic's homing attack would likely not be able to subdue all of Beta's missiles in time, and Beta's ability to fly would mean Tails is no contest either. His claws also appear powerful enough to get into a fist fight with Knuckles or block Amy's hammer, and he's more than fast enough to steal Froggy from Big and fly away. Of course, when Eggman made him, he did not know Gamma would betray him, thus ultimately leading to Beta's death.
"Stop Beta, Eggman bad master! Destroyed friends, Eggman enemy!" "Gamma not master, Eggman master! All enemies must be eliminated!" "Beta mustn't shoot! Gamma friend!" "Gamma not master, Eggman master! All enemies must be eliminated!"
Daniel scott Ehh, but theres a huge difference. Like, ff7, you know just from the beginning that it's going to be depressing, and it keeps that sad/depressing feel throughout the entire game, so when something happens, you kinda expect it, and aren't affected as much because it's almost as though the tone allowed you to predict it. something like this, and mother 3, with a much happier tone kinda hits you with sad moments (this game, a sad moment) out of no where, you don't expect it, making the loss that much harder. If ff7 was a happy game, then yeah, the losses through out the game would off felt alot heavier because they would of hit you with the unexpected, but they don't, and it's not the first final fantasy game to kill off a main character, so it's still not that bad. (People seem to forget about Tella from ff4, Galuf from ff5, and shadow at the end of ff6, although i guess i won't count shadow because thats when the game is done.)
E101 mk II would've been a very badass Steel/Electric type Pokemon. Its base stats would've been something like HP: 70, ATK: 70, DEF: 70, Sp.Atk: 170, Sp.Def: 70, Spd: 150 with 'Levitate' ability.
Gamma has the best story out of any character in the series, in my opinion. Better than Knuckles' and better than Shadow's. His was just handled so differently than the others and in such a brilliant way, too.
I remember when I was at middle school during art class I started humming this song and in a few seconds my friend next to me started to as well, good times
Beta's theme perfectly suits him! The saxophone adds to the nostalgia, the electronic sounds adds to the dystopian feel, and best of all, it tells a story. A story of a robot, who was successfully defeated by his successor, Gamma, which resulted in him being ripped apart. Born anew. Although Gamma was apologetic for the hell he's put his brother through, Beta didn't care. He wasn't slow to start shooting at E-102. He wanted him gone, especially since his amalgamation of a form could do the job. Even if it resulted in him falling to the ground, close to permanent deactivation, close to combustion, close to his robot arms falling right off, he wouldn't hesitate to launch the finishing blow. Which goes to show that E-101 Beta is one of the most heartless, unhesitant, destructive, robotic antagonists ever thought of in any media.
... was what took it over the edge for me. Best part was even after finishing the job, Gamma wanted to continue onward to thwart more of robotnik's plans. Clearly one of the best sonic characters in the series, hands down. The finale of the story and the fanfare while Gamma was exploding was what brought real tears to my eyes. Bravo sega, other than sonic and shadow you made one great character and didn't force him to live past it's prime.
This is one of my favorite songs from SA1 but its to bad the fight does not last longer when you are playing this fight since most of Gamma's boss fights mostly end quickly
How did I not notice... because gamma beat up beta in the beginning he wants revenge on gamma for not only beating him. But finding the frog. Then leading up to beta being rebuild. I think the saddest part is that gamma doesn't know this.
This got me thinking, this kinda makes you wonder how we went from SA1 and SA2's amazing style of mature yet balance writing to Colors Lost World and Forces childish meta writing.
AHH this kind of electronic music, sonic, and san francisco (headquarters of sega of america) all contribute to giving me that great urban house feel that has been instilled in me as early as my childhood years. Im I the only one?
as the screwattack crew put it best. "featuring one of my favorite moves, the backhand!" E-101 beta MKI: piss easy E-101 beta MKII: somewhat difficult.
I love how SA1 passed off the lack of Sonic games for the SEGA Saturn as "Eggman took a long hiatus to hatch the greatest of evil plans."
And that plan was to go back in time and convince Sega to sell the Saturn for 400 bucks at launch for shits n' giggles.
What if eggman or Robotnik decided to take a hiatus to build the E-series robots

To be honest I was kinda sad fighting beta. 2 brothers fighting to the death. Think about it
if this is sad for you play mother 3
lucas the psi boy or Final Fantasy 7
Daniel scott
But...ff7 isn't sad.....
But it tragic with a lot of loss
Daniel scott
Ehh, but theres a huge difference.
This is what i love about Sonic Adventure. Great music all the way through from the start of the game to the end.
This was such a strong climax unlike most other moments of the game, i always leave Gamma's until the last. Brilliant endgame execution of his story.
Other than Metal, Gamma and Beta were probably the best, or close to it, the best creations Eggman produced.
good jam this calls for some fine wine.
Thanks
No one can just deflect my laser beams.
E101:deflect
E101 mk II would've been a very badass Steel/Electric type Pokemon. Its base stats would've been something like HP: 70, ATK: 70, DEF: 70, Sp.Atk: 170, Sp.Def: 70, Spd: 150 with 'Levitate' ability.
60 HP, 80 ATK. Take it or leave it.
I love how the robot is dancing to the music
Master system deleted...
SA1 has amazing music.
Why is such a kickass song so underrated?
@Ice Bear Well, that is if the projectile deflecting doesn't intimidate you in your first playthrough.
3:19 - 3:30 so good 🎵
The saxophone in this song is epic
Reported for saxual assault
Okay maybe my favorite in the game, I love it just because just so freaking emotional, like me.
It's expressive, jazzy and exciting. What's not to love?
I've always loved the jazzy synth of this game.
... was what took it over the edge for me.
Best theme in SA hands down
I have an uncontrollable urge to tap my foot to the beat!
Ngl when I was little this was such a freaking hard boss for me 😂
For those who don't know, the song is called Crazy Robo.
Fist time watching this video
Love itt
I remember loving this video when I was younger.
This got me thinking, this kinda makes you wonder how we went from SA1 and SA2's amazing style of mature yet balance writing to Colors Lost World and Forces childish meta writing.
Strange huh? I like to blame the overly offended people not wanting Sega to make dark Sonic moments anymore.
Colours is still fundamentally better as a game than these.
Awesome song. I replayed this game a few days back for the nostalgia, it's so good...
Alright let's get this over with. Time to spam the shoot button ag- WHAT THE HELL, HE DEFLECTED IT?!
AHH this kind of electronic music, sonic, and san francisco (headquarters of sega of america) all contribute to giving me that great urban house feel that has been instilled in me as early as my childhood years. Im I the only one?
This song is the most awesome sonic song out there. Lots of people agree.
Me: time to sho-
*deflects bullets*
Me: ...
I remember I used to always listen to this as a child.
Should have done more with this SEGA!! Thanks for posting :)
Nice song :> all the best themes won't be forgotten
Good. I was ~8 years old when I've got to play it.
Pretty awesome first full videogame experience.
This is the #1 jam in this game
I love this fight. Too easy now that I'm an active gamer but those backhands when I was a kid. Fucking. Yes.
I forgot how much of a banger this was.
I swear to god this would play in a dance club if it wasnt a video game song
I play this to the Sharkspeare battle on PGR. Good times
One of my all time favorite songs in sonic adventure I still have the game too.:)
Gamma's story was easily the best in this game.
Even to this day I can't get over how amazing this song is!
Kinda sounds like Street Fighter.
Yeah very street fighter 3
This Robot Is Underrated
Nothing Can Convince Me Otherwise
something that makes special sonic adventure's games from the other games is the music
Is it just me or does this go really well with the biolizard fight
This game and the sequal's Soundtrack were amazing ;n;
I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!!!
"E-Series... friends... must save..."
This is still in my top 10 for most epic boss fights.
Wonder who would win a battle. Omega or E101 Mk II
Thats what ilike about the sonic boss themes. Its catchy, full energy and it always gives that motivating 80s and 90s car chase action.
Wait... I noticed is almost same as Gamma's theme
I absolutely LOVE that sax.
oh my god! This is SOO classic! :O ...These were the good old times.. =)
yeah until after sonic heroes ended, then we got some shitty shit since then.
Exactly!
...Although Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Generations Were awesome! :D
SoNiC cOlOuRs FTW! I am ready to take the hate
:p
This boss music describes the soundtrack as a whole brilliantly.
This might be my favorite Sonic song ever
Gives me serious nights into dreams vibes. and serious nostalgia
as the screwattack crew put it best. "featuring one of my favorite moves, the backhand!"
E-101 beta MKI: piss easy
E-101 beta MKII: somewhat difficult.
The beginning of this soundtrack is just mesmerising
What a sad ending for such a great character.
As a robot i can confirm that felt amazing
This is probably the best song I've ever heard in my entire life.
Sonic Adventure Was My First Game Ever (I Think) And 1 Of My Favourites, I'm Still Playing It After About 5-6 Years!
