  • Your Samsun washer may be making your clothes dirtier. This video looks into what is under that shiny stainless agitator that may cause you concern. Mold, gunk, and many other things may be causing your clothes, linens, and other items to get particles of debris, sand, dirt and just plain gunk on your wash. I hope this video helps. Many others have helped me. Please hit like and I subscribe. Thank you for watching.

    Good video! This video explain where the brown residues are coming from from my Samsung top load washer.....what a bad design! According to Samsung, when the Self Cleaning function is not enough to clean the washer, you need to add bleach or chlorine before the Self Cleaning...which then in the long run could corrode the steel plate. After 3 years of using this top load 'efficient' washer, i"m thinking to go back to a basic model with a plastic tub and an agitator. Manufacturers forgot that a washer main function is to clean clothes, not make it more dirty or play songs!

    I ran into the notorious brown flakes after about 8 years of the same model. Turns out wife started washing everything cold and not doing pure cycles, probably since after washing the baby clothes were shrinking. Came across your video, decided to follow your "do it yourself" technique to try to clean it out since washers are $600 and up, and everything else in the washer is working good.
    I took out the agitator, saw the same brown mold and crud on the outside and inside of the agitator, and underneath the agitator on top of the stainless steel tub, on the regular steel mount and in the crevices underneath. The metal component was not nearly as pitted as yours is, that's some serious corrosion. I attempted to power wash the surface of the agitator, but that didn't really do anything to the inside. I then created a bath of bleach, dish soap, and hot water in a storage tub and attempted to soak the agitator for an hour, kind of moving it around to try to get the solution to seep into the agitator interior. Then I did the same thing to the washer, taking buckets of hot water, a good squirt of dish soap in the bucket to get suds, and maybe a cup of bleach, enough to cover the mounting plate.
    After 1 hour, I noticed that the brown crud retreated from around the drainage holes of the agitator, but the mold on the interior crevices didn't seem to come out. I used nylon brushes to clean the plastic exterior in the crevices on the agitator. Then I used the wire brushes on the stainless steel tub and steel mount, and nylon brushes to try to get in those crevices between steel mount and the plastic tub underneath. Then I installed the agitator again, and ran the pure cycle to drain the solution and try to use the washer's self clean to get any other gunk out. I think the bleach soak forces the mold to detach from surfaces (based on my experience with siding). Afterward, I'd wipe out any gunk with a paper towel. Had to repeat the pure cycle 3 times before the gunk was not detectable on top of the agitator and stainless steel tub. Further wash cycles have been free of brown flakes.
    All in all, I highly recommend attempting this before replacing the washer. Since there's still brown mold gunk deep in the agitator crevices between the plastic and stainless steel, don't know how long this cleaning will last before the brown flakes appear again, but this was easy to do and didn't have to lift a 150 lb washer to take it more apart, or spend money on a repair service or new washer. Wife is very happy and sends kudos to the video creator! You need to get the word out on the Samsung forums.

    Same issue on mine. I used an electric pressure washer and some cleaner to clean pulsator after removal. Pressure wash from both sides into the small holes at all angles and it should clean out well. I also used inside drum to clean bottom out followed by the pure cycle a couple of times. We bought this washer used and we're not informed about the issue. We were pretty frustrated that they left out that huge detail. Coming back to say after ripping this washing machine apart, pulling the agitator apart(not fun, that was also filled with mold and flakes), scrubbing everything(drum inside and out, agitator, inside and out, washer tub, etc) and still having dirt at the bottom I dumped 1/2 cup of clr in the bottom of the washer and ran a normal cycle... most of the flakes were gone! I'm running a rinse spin cycle to clear the rest of the soap suds. Will probably do clr one more time with an extra rinse cycle afterwards, but heads up to those here frustrated...CLR seems to be the saving grace..good luck.

    I have bad news for all of you. See that pulsator that was cleaned. Take it outside and hold it up to the sun. Between that chrome overlay and the white plastic base, you will find lots of mold growing in there. You'll see what I'm talking about when you hold it up to a light. I spent several hours prying the two pieces apart only to find a disgusting mess of mold in there. Basically, your cleaning will be only a temporary solution as the mold will come back, more quickly than before. Samsung needs to make a one-piece pulsator so there is no tight spaces for mold to grow. I bought a new pulsator and it was completely moldy in less than six months. I was able to get a full refund of my purchase price for the washer, which I was delighted about, but I still tried using it. Now, I think its time to get rid of it. What a shame since it's basically in like-new condition. Samsung really blew with this one. I'm guessing there was no recall because they probably haven't found a solution.

I cleaned it out and I continue to use just the bottom plastic piece of the pulsator (I separated the chrome overlay, which was not easy). We leave the lid open and use Afresh every month. So far, we have had no more issues after about a year of use. I would love to replace the pulsator with a nicer one, just not sure if Samsung makes a one-piece version. If so, please let me know. I don't care if its white or chrome. I just don't want a place for mold to grow.

    You have no idea how much scrud is behind drum. At best you buffed the tip of the iceberg. Get yourself a 5 lb bag of citric acid and OxiClean. At least 2 Cups of citric acid to 1 cup of OxiClean, clean on the hottest setting .. ideally just filling the tank and leaving it set for about an hour or longer .. repeat at least twice. Use a net or paper towels to catch the floating scrud.
    This process works in dishwashers though use a lot less, commode tanks, and anywhere where water has built up crud.

      If you have a WA45H7200A* Samsung washer, they have been recalled. Contact Samsung. They will either 1) give you $136 toward the purchase of a new Samsung washer, or 2) send a person out to fix your problem.

    The best way to clean this unit is to remove the whole drum assembly which requires removing the entire top of the washing machine. I just did mine and the agitator actually has a bunch of scrud build up in it . And now we are replacing the Agitator. Samsung are terrible appliances

    Use 3 dishwasher tablets every month in extra hot empty water! Than another empty with cold water and bleach, and a tirth one with 300 ml of citric acid for lime scale! It will became brand new and stay like new, every month, repeat the 3 empty washing cycle with extra hot and filled to the top. Anyway the spider is all corroded is a common problem with samsung washers even front load have thesame problems! The spiders material is so cheap and became corroded very soon from the soap , as you can saw when you brashed the screwer on the spider you easily cutted it is like butter corroded

    I have the same washer/dryer and completely took it apart yesterday. Same issues: gunk under pulsator, powder detergent buildup almost like sand, corroded and pitted metal plate. I would suggest taking the drum out as well. It’s a bigger job, but you can really get all the debris out. Wet shop vac was definitely my friend on this job. My only gripe is, similar you yours, there seems to still be slime build up between the upper and lower assembly of the pulsator (top silver piece and white bottom piece). You can see it when you look at the underside, sort of discolored in places. This part has been discontinued and I can’t find a new one for the life of me. I might try prying the apart to clean in between, but I fear breaking it.

    • @htnowpro

    If you don’t take out the entire drum out and clean underneath it you’re still washing your clothes simmering in that mold and mildew. Only way to truly deep clean it is to take out the entire drum and clean underneath. This is a half-ass job, no offense to the guy. I understand he didn’t want to risk breaking off a rusted nut but that washer is still really dirty and that’s touching your clothes, it may not stain it but it’s touching it in every wash.

    I have the same or very similar Samsung washing machine. When I turn the stainless steel drum around with my hand I can hear water splashing. I checked the drain hose and vacumed out any clogs that could have been causing the problem but it'didnt fix the problem. I disconnected the hose from the drain pump and vacuumed that also. And it's still making a splashing noise when I move the inner stainless steel drum with my hand. to worry about the invisible water sloshing

      there for counter-balancing. If anyone tries

    Cleaning all the junk on the top of the "spider" is not enough, or so I'm told. If there's junk/scum on the top, there's sure to be as much junk/scum on the bottom.
    I haven't done it yet, but I'm going to take out the stainless steel tub, clean it thoroughly, and then remove the "spider" (the medal thing with all the crud on it).
    I'm told it comes off after removing the 38mm bolt that holds it into place. A thorough cleaning with a wire brush and elbow-grease should do the trick.
    Taking it out will also give me/you plenty of room to clean most everything that's down there, using a garden hose, soap and a shop-vac to suck everything out.
    At least that's what I'm hoping for. Good luck with your work there.

    • @htnowpro
      @htnowpro  4 года назад +1

    • @GetRealBaby
      @GetRealBaby 4 года назад

      @@htnowpro I've given the nut a few shots of WD40 each day. That puts a bit of oil in the tub, but seeing as how I'm going to take out the tub and clean it inside and out, including the plastic basket the tub rides in, that's not a problem.
      Also, before you try to remove the nut, be sure to check to see if it's a clockwise or counter-clockwise turn to free it.
      I saw a RUclips video of a guy who had to turn that nut clockwise to take it off. Sure don't want to keep hammering on the thing in the wrong direction.
