He wrote this song months ago when juice died for his daughter. He didn't want to be in the position where he hadn't said everything he wanted to say to his daughter. He was scared cause he was still kinda heavy on the drugs and was scared that it coulda been him. So he had wrote it and sent it to her to listen and I don't know how much he changed the sound for this album or if he wrote it exactly like this when he first wrote it for her.
I'm glad you seem to recognize addiction and anxiety and that it's a problem without really having to go through it yourself!! It is VERY SERIOUS AND SAD AND I HATE WHEN PPL SAY IT'S NOT A DISEASE 🙏🙏💯💯. 1 BAD DECISION AND IT COULD BE DOWN HILL 🙏🙏💯💯 MUCH LOVE and RESPECT My Dude and KEEP GRINDIN 💯💯💯
One of my favorite parts of this song is how he says it’s alright your gonna cry like it’s okay to cry it’s a natural emotion and I’m your dad being strong is allowing you to feel those emotions not hide them
Bro like, here's a thought I just had: This album "Tickets To My Downfall" is literally him predicting his own downfall and making a production out of it. He welcomes the audience with the first track, throws back bottles of liquor and drowns himself in drugs and sex for the opening act in the second track, then starts peeling back the layers behind it all with each track. It all ranges from childhood trauma, toxic relationships and his inability to recognize affection without living in extremes, the loss of his loved ones and his consequential survivor's guilt, and how it all impacts his current emotional state, his personal relationships, and the state of his business. This last song is more than just a farewell track addressed to his daughter. It's also a prediction of what his final moments will be like and a testament to how SHE is what will matter most to him in those moments and how she was what made him Machine Gun Kelly in the first place. So to sum all that up, we literally are watching his downfall from beginning to end. It's on record, and when/if it does happen, because he made this album, he'll know he went out in style instead of just taking it quietly. I think that's the type of energy that went into it behind the scenes. That's my take on it, and I think that's why this album is more punk rock than anything I've ever heard from Descendents, Bad Brains, Black Flag, Sex Pistols. Anything, dude.
@Zachary Lash Oh dude you're valid. I heard him say that on the Kelly Clarkson show, but honestly, I feel like that ties directly into what I was saying anyways.
@Zachary Lash your talking about the lil interview with him on the Kelly show, was gunna say that episode with him he explains what it meant but bravo bruh 😄
My husband died of an overdose May of 2021. I made a slideshow of pictures to this song for our children and his family. This song sounded like words from my husband to myself and our kids. It breaks my heart every time I hear it but it's also comforting. Mgk has this way of being vulnerable and letting you into his life, but being so relatable to those of us going through the same struggles and pain.
This is for his daughter. My 15 year old daughter heard me listening to this song and started crying. She said she wish she had a dad like mgk. Her dad is also an addict and has never wanted to be in her life. MGK is an amazing father and just an amazing person.
Hey man, when you talked about addiction and people not realizing how it changes the way your brain is...your absolutely right coming from a recovering addict. That really hit home bro. Thanks for understanding and having such an open mind about that topic. Your videos are great. Keep grinding 💪
A long time viewer but first time commenting. I just wanted to say thanks for explaining addiction in a deeper level. There’s a huge difference if you just go hard on the weekends it isn’t drug addiction. Addiction is so debilitating and misunderstood and seen as hand in hand with crime but when you are one it’s the loneliest, darkest times of your life. No one grows up hoping to become an addict. Anyway just wanted to say thanks. Appreciate all your video’s man. All the best
I think this is the first reaction video I've watched on youtube where the "reactor" actually provides thoughtful words on the material he's reaction to instead of just pausing to say meaningless stuff to make the video longer, earned a new subcriber for sure!
I respect Ernest for being open-minded about mgk's new music unlike many Eminem stans who just write him off without even giving Hotel Diablo or Tickets to My Downfall a fair listen... you can not like the guy but you can't deny he's talented and is putting his heart into his newer music.
I think this song is for his daughter which is so amazing, almost made me cry. But since you mentioned suicide “Glass House” MGKs older song had super heavy lyrics especially about that topic and his daughter that broke my heart.
I lost my mom on May 16th, my Dad on September 23rd 2020. I’m 29 years old and I never get to see my daughter but I love her to death. This song hits me to my core. Thanks for the reaction, it helps more then you know.
I survived my opiate addiction, I have been clean since April 2019. I want to thank you for explaining to others, it's hell when you reach your rock bottom, I did not think I would survive, but today I'm sitting here, quite happy with my life. Thank you 🤍 Love and light from Sweden 🇸🇪 🤍
Because of your ability to have empathy and put yourself in someone’s shoes even though it’s not something you’re going through, you’ve gained another follower 💛
Dude, thank you so much for talking about how seamlessly he switches genres. He is so talented and doesn’t get nearly enough credit for production, talent, and lyrics. Those of us that have been with him forever are loving seeing everyone discover this young man.
I am only alive once, And I'mma die when God wants, So fill the sky with diamonds, 'Cause that's how it's gonna look when I'm gone, Had a vision as a kid that one day I would change the world with my song, Several years have passed and now that vision came to life that boy's a fucking icon. - Colson Baker
@Zachary Lash So this is for the kid who never had a father figure to depend on Spending every school day being sent home Feeling like he doesn't know anybody Because the only thing he ever had to him was some headphones So he pick a song, and he turn 'em on Every morning just to get him through the day Looking for an escape and the kick in the bass That's the story of MGK Lace up!

He wrote this song for his daughter Casie and she was so happy when he posted it on Instagram. I love their bond, she's the sweetest girl I've never met. EST ❌❌❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
The difference between MGK and everybody else is MGK is just trying to tell his story and he's just trying to get people to hear him and everybody else is selling their soul for money and women and cars and jewelry. That's the difference between Colson and everybody else, his whole life he's been just trying to get people to hear him and FINALLY people are hearing him but at the end of the day those demons continue screaming in our heads when we lay down to go to sleep at night and the silence is so loud that it's deafening and the loneliness is suffocating. That's my personal struggle, every single day. That's why I thank you for giving me my little bit of happiness everyday with your videos because it makes the voices in my head stop and it fills the void with a little bit of Hope and happiness. I could write a book with everything I've went through, like literally everyone that loved me died and the one person I was left here with is the one person that didn't want me in the first place, I called her mom. She's always looked at me with disgust and never showed any type of motherly love towards me. Still to this day I'm 43 years old and she still is mentally, emotionally, spiritually abusing me and her goal is this song. That's her goal, she thinks if she pushes me and keeps pushing me she'll end up pushing me into my grave but what she doesn't know is that I've never been weak. I was forced to be strong and responsible but she's never worked a day in her life and she keeps boyfriends around who have good jobs but have drinking problems or some kind of issue so they don't see her for her issues and her drug abuse that she had in the past. I swear, it's crazy, I beg her and beg her everyday just to talk nice to me, I'm never going to get her to love me but I give her permission to fake liking me if it will save a little bit of my mental health but she can't even fake it. So Colson has literally saved my life on numerous occasions and doesn't even know it. I hope he knows how much he's loved, till we die 💯 ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥EST❌❌
This is my favorite song on the album. I sobbed when I heard it. And even though I’ve heard it literally at least 20 times since Friday, i still choke back tears.

I completely agree with you about sounding like for your eyes only! To this day still one of my favorite breakdowns of yours! You asked a little while back if you should do more breakdowns to music you have already heard before or stick to new music reactions and for your eyes only is a great example of why breaking stuff down that you’ve heard before is a good idea! Songs that are important to you and strike a cord with you will resonate with us as well because we will be able to see that shining through when you’re breaking it down. You’ll be able to shine a light on music you feel is worthy of hype that some of us might not have heard yet. Just like “he said she said” by Lupe. When you did a breakdown of that I hadn’t heard Lupe before but now you have me wanting to do a whole Lupe journey to see what he’s all about. 😂 (speaking of...where should I start?!) Watching this over and then watching the die in cali reaction, I think you’ll make the connection. Everyone has a dream they want but when it takes decisions you’re not down with to get there. That house in the hills is more like a prison than home…
bro if you knew the story of this, it would mean way more. He wrote it because that day he felt like he was gonna die that day off drugs, so he wrote this song for his daughter for when hes gone
Addiction is a hard thing man... the moment it enters my blood it feels like the best warmest hug, it takes away the years of pain and sorrow Ive been going through now... I just want to be able to be okay without them... sorry for wasting anyones time.
I understand the feeling so much bro. 30 minutes of that warm feeling is worth the potential hours/ days of your body having a breakdown from withdrawal. Everything seems manageable until you inevitable make a bad move and hit rock bottom AGAIN. To this day, I still use tex to curb myself
@TheThirdErnest deluxe dropped so you have 5 new tracks to do and then the acoustic bloody valentine if you want to do that again. They a little heavier than the rest of the album and they’re all super sick
This is for his daughter. It can be taken in different ways, that's art. I'm so glad you said what you did - that he didn't switch genres because of Eminem. MGK is so multi talented and he's out to try and make things that are different, & songs he really wants to do. He deserves the credit due to him.
This is a suicide note he wrote to his daughter. He sent her this message over text before he turned it into a song because in case he did go through with it he would have told her everything he wanted her to know.
MGK ripped open his chest and pulled out his heart and served it up on a platter with this album. Truly a masterpiece. He's talking to his daughter btw.
He wrote this song months ago when juice died for his daughter. He didn't want to be in the position where he hadn't said everything he wanted to say to his daughter. First song in a long time that made me cry. First verse especially. Hits home.
This reminds me of his song '27' on the album bloom; that has a similar undertone to it, though this is far more personal
I am only alive once,
And I'mma die when God wants,
So fill the sky with diamonds,
'Cause that's how it's gonna look when I'm gone,
Had a vision as a kid that one day I would change the world with my song,
Several years have passed and now that vision came to life that boy's a fucking icon.

@Zachary Lash So this is for the kid who never had a father figure to depend on
Spending every school day being sent home
Feeling like he doesn't know anybody
Because the only thing he ever had to him was some headphones

Every morning just to get him through the day
Looking for an escape and the kick in the bass

Watching this over and then watching the die in cali reaction, I think you’ll make the connection. Everyone has a dream they want but when it takes decisions you’re not down with to get there. That house in the hills is more like a prison than home…
This album is going to win Grammys.
bro if you knew the story of this, it would mean way more. He wrote it because that day he felt like he was gonna die that day off drugs, so he wrote this song for his daughter for when hes gone
This is an amazing reaction bro
Well versed bro.. ur take on this track is on point man..
This was an amazing reaction train, so glad you did it!!!
This is so sad but I do love this song one of my favorites
Love the shirt, love your breakdowns. Keep it up.
Addiction is a hard thing man... the moment it enters my blood it feels like the best warmest hug, it takes away the years of pain and sorrow Ive been going through now... I just want to be able to be okay without them... sorry for wasting anyones time.
It really is, I’m trying to get through it myself. Stay strong just wanted to let you know your not alone.
I understand the feeling so much bro. 30 minutes of that warm feeling is worth the potential hours/ days of your body having a breakdown from withdrawal. Everything seems manageable until you inevitable make a bad move and hit rock bottom AGAIN. To this day, I still use tex to curb myself
It took way too long until you realize it’s for his daughter lol this song is so so deep
But most dont know he orginally wrote rock mussic and then went to rap and now hea back to it
If you ever check out his bloom album from 2017 everyone knows he was headed this direction all along!
You're real bro respect for you 🙏
What's up brother always enjoy your reactions. Thank you for all your work.
@TheThirdErnest deluxe dropped so you have 5 new tracks to do and then the acoustic bloody valentine if you want to do that again.
They a little heavier than the rest of the album and they’re all super sick
My friend just committed suicide a few days ago and this song was his message he left. crazy what your mind can do to you.
I cry every time I listen to this. I have a son and I think about his daughter when I hear this. It breaks my heart.
Fastest album review without streaming the reaction 🖤
MGK ripped open his chest and pulled out his heart and served it up on a platter with this album. Truly a masterpiece. He's talking to his daughter btw.
Crying in school rn. That’s how you know he hit way too close to home with this song 🥺
You should do “can’t look back “ from the deluxe version of Tickets To My Downfall mgk
