Marcel Coenen One of the best guitarists I have ever seen/heard. No Flash but pure talent.
I love this performance so much that it's too short for me. I really like every single detail of it.
That guitar player reminds me of Emppu. He sits quietly in the corner but when needed he blows up and gives you what you need.
Marcel Coenen...he is more like the Dutch version of John Petrucci (Dream Theater). Yes, he is that good.
@@sopwithsnoopy8779 He might be better than Petrucci in the way he restrains himself. I seen Petrucci 4or 5 times and he couldn't have done that. He would have been blown it up. Not that that's bad just different. Thanks for the info.
Maybe over the top, but his guitar playing reminded me somewhat of Steve Vai on "Children of the Universe"
Edward Reekers has such a great voice
Putting great songs analysis in historical and musical perspective is one of Eric's best skills 🤘❤
The Ayreon Universe live concert is what I play mostly, I prefer the live over the studio albums maybe because I’ve seen the whole concert and how much all the musicians are enjoying being there and playing this music together and you can hear that in the music I think 🫶🏼
I actually listened to this song earlier today while waiting to get my blood drawn 🩸

Hey Eric and a happy new year! Nice to see you get back to Ayreon every so often. I really appreciate your perspective those songs! I can't wait for the first official videos from the shows last September get released. I'll definitely pre order the DVD/Blue-Ray. Even though I have seen the show live twice.

Very soothing and beautiful performance.
To me, it sounds more like it's taken from any Pink Floyd album. I'm not that familiar with Yes, unfortunately. But I believe this song would fit perfectly on Pink Floyd's Delicate Sound of Thunder album/show.
I thought I'd select a more soothing track this time, since it doesn't always have to be heavy. The bass riff is quite mesmerizing though, almost hypnotizing.
Actually the live performance they did once with Stream of Passion with Marcela and Diana Bovio on the vocals is the best live rendition of this song and at that time Arjen himself was on stage playing the guitar, so that made it extra special :) This one is also good though, just not as good. It might be nice to check it off-line, you will enjoy it since it has the proper length for the track, the guitar solo/battle (Arjen vs Lori Linstruth) and the super/climactic ending :)

Great reaction again. Comfort in familiarity. That is really my basic feeling listening to Ayreon. Never thought about that.
Yes AND Anderson Bruford Wakeman and Howe played a show at the Superdome. iirc ABW&H "opened" and Yes closed, but it sort of morphed from one to the other without a real break. A buddy who went said it was basically like seeing all versions of Yes.

I wouldn't even dare to put them both on a steady spot in the top-3 or top-5. Who is first and who is second doesn't really matter. They both are absolute magicians in music in their own respect. What does speak more for Arjen is that he always manages to find the exact right musicians and singers to perform, both on his albums and live, where Tuomas 'only has his valkyrie goddess' Floor (aside from the band of course)

This is a song from Stream of Passion (another project of Arjen's), it's "original" is slightly better I think, at least I prefer those vocals: ruclips.net/video/-tAoSEYA-n0/видео.html (oh, and Arjen on guitar)
