- Safari West keepers were concerned when the latest giraffe calf born on the 400-acre wildlife preserve in Santa Rosa showed signs of infection at birth. The team separated the baby and started an IV on her neck for antibiotics and fluids. They also woke before sunrise to feed the calf four times a day. Keepers introduced the baby to mother Malakai on Saturday, July 13, 2024. (John Burgess/The Press Democrat)

What an adorable sweetie pie. Thank you for all your hard work, I am so jealous.❤
God's beautiful creature. So sweet and beautiful scenes with a kindhearted human. Thank you so much ! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Baby animals are so precious 💕
Hopefully mom will let her feed….caring staff
Is this mom's first baby? Normally you would expect protective behavior. Does mom know this is her baby? I saw once with a young rejected foal they covered it in mom's pee first, then smeared mom's poo over it so mom would accept it and it worked. Worried for this baby. This staff member is so wonderful and caring with this baby. I am wondering what the problem is with mom?
❤❤❤❤
❤ cutest ❤
Didn't Momma lose her milk with no nursing for two weeks?
she has some serious trauma from the mom's tail. guess she got smacked several times for misbehaving.
Cute!
