    Planas Sensei this is great mechanics of motion. I tell people that think that Karate don't work, BS, lets find out. Im a Judoka, who wakes up at 3:00 AM and do Wado Ryu katas with aiki taisabaki. Kempo is what the Japanese call Karate. It is modified Kungfu.

    LO que siempre ha visto en todas esas rutinas es que el atacante coopera para que la técnica se vea de películas, y la vida real ha demostrado que cualquier acción violenta es un caos. remitente a Buco Orozco.

      Huk is the architect of the modern Kenpo system. In a 90s Black Belt magazine issue he revealed he made up the majority of the system for Parker. Huk did all the work while Parker made all the money

    It really bugs me that this is marketed as self defence, it's it's irresponsible. As choreographed moves the techniques look great, but it's not practical and gives naive students a false sense of security.

      @@stevegledhill1575 @steve gledhill you're very welcome :) the yawn is appropriate, cause if you think these techniques will work - you're dreaming. Kenpo doesn't even have continuous bouts in competition last time I checked (and their threshold for "excessive contact" is quite low - but tbf that is subjective). So as I said, it's a nice sport and art but it should be marketed as such.

      @@jimb7816 I have, I've fought people in continuous kickboxing competition (not just that point sparring stuff - I've done that too and it is fun). Have you ever seen something like flashing mace work in sparring or competition?

    • @oliviabyrd
      @oliviabyrd 3 года назад

      @@Ottepeg89 I have not seen it in sparring or competition because American Kenpo I completely agree that trying to pull off a technique in a competition is really not going to go well. And yes, I wish the Kenpo system made more of an effort to focus on contact and sparring. I've noticed that in most Kenpo videos, the techniques are always executed in the "Ideal" phase. This is for teaching and demonstration purposes, so that the students may understand the mechanics of the movements. No one, at least in my school, expects things go exactly as "choreographed". We always discuss what could go wrong and how we would have to adjust. We're taught that techniques are just a basis, and really, can be altered at any time and whenever the situation calls for it. As for the "choreography", that's just called training for different attacks. Just like when BJJ practitioners are taught how to escape an armbar or how to defend a choke. Or Muay Thai: hook is coming, block, then counterstrike. Take the Kenpo technique Shielding Hammer for a left hook. Block, counterstrike. Not really all that different.
