- Exploring the Book Cliffs outside Green River Utah has been something I have wanted to do for a very long time! After a day of solo travel, I was met by my brother Mike. We did what we love most, looked at the map found something we wanted to check out, and hit the trail.

I think we could win the slowest drivers award. This trip was so beautiful. It’s funny to me that we spent half the day just getting above where we started in the morning.
I film way too much. I can’t seem to figure that part out. No regrets in this trip.
These shots are incredible! Love seeing the GX out in the wilderness too
Another cool video. Scenery wise I'd say this one ranks right up at the top. Just a gorgeous area.
The views on this trip were just jaw breaking
Awesome video Jared. Love that area.
Thanks 👍
Great footage.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks. What an awesome place. Regards from Ody Slim
It’s a really beautiful area!
FINALLY,The guys have come back to the Swell😉 Another great vid. I love the swell area also. I have used GR as a basecamp a few times going in and out of the swell and I never thought to go where you went. Going to add in a couple day trip there in late spring now..
Great video! We spend a lot of time in the swell, but this is definitely going on the list👍
Same. I’ve spent so much time in the Swell accessing it via Green River often and never took the time to explore here. I should have along time ago.
@@BackroadExploration we were in Moab last month and did Spring Canyon Point. Takes you to the edge of the canyon with the Green River. Easy trail but fun and very scenic. If you get a chance you won’t be disappointed. A couple of killer Dispersed camps at the end as well👍
Love your vids! Giving me some great ideas for my next trip to Utah! Thanks!
Thanks so much for watching. When’s your next trip?
Fall but might put it off until next fall. 30ish hour drive rom Canada and gas prices might dictate our trips. Last fall was very expensive!
Such beautiful views! Thanks for sharing. Concerning those cows, I wonder if the rancher takes hay out for them on occasion? Also loved your "fill up with adventure gas" comment!
Adventure gas is the best mod! The views in this area were unbelievable!
Amazing scenery, you're very lucky to live close enough to explore it like you do.
💯 I feel super blessed to be so close.
Jealous!
Was in this exact same area about 6-7 weeks ago...got turned around by a big mudslide just north of the campground...recent heavy rains....how 'bout the hippie art area ?? Kool...Got out & took pics....Glad to see you're in another Toyota....Wife's ? Ha ha..Your brother probably talked you into it ? Good for him.....We'll cross paths some day......I hang out on the Swell mucho......LX 470 Lexus (:
That Hippie art was pretty cool. I’m enjoying the GX, it’s a fun rig. The primary motivation was a need for a third row vehicle. Looking forward to crossing paths!
wow! The views from up the cliffs are stunning! Funny, I was just by the green river, on the road where you camped at the beginning of the video, this morning. I need to plan a trip back when it's dryer.
It’s such a beautiful canyon. I need to get back and do some camping there.
And hiking.
Wow Jared, that is some seriously beautiful country! The snow really accentuates the ruggedness of the terrain. It's amazing to me that the indigenous peoples were enjoying this beauty for millennia before we got to see it. I wonder if they took it for granted like so many of the current population does. I don't think so.
It’s stunning and the snow makes it even better. I’m certain one of the reasons the indigenous people spent so much time here is because of the scenery.
I lived in the book cliffs when i was 16 in a program for minors its crazy out there
That area is stunning! I drove the road on the east side of the Green River as far north as it goes. It ends near Nefertiti rock a few miles north of the town of Green River. That road was in good shape when I drove it in 2013. I drove it in my 2005 Buick LeSabre 4-door sedan with no problems. Definitely had to go very slow in a few places but the car never did bottom out. I have some great pictures from the Lower Gray Canyon where that road goes through.
That’s awesome. It could likely be done in a Buick now just have to pick the right lines and need a dry day.
Dam, You sold the Jeep! Wish I had know it, My son was looking for one like it after he saw yours in vids. You didn't mention it in any earlier vids or did I miss that? Bummer
When we decided to get the GX we planned to sell it. Just didn’t make sense to have two rigs for the same relative purpose. I was having a hard time letting go so we kept it for a bit but made the decision to move on. I honestly miss it like crazy but this new chapter has been fun.
Mike, how are you attaching the recovery boards and jack to the LFD cross bars? I assume the boards are using the pins that come with them? But cant tell on the jack?
What happened to your jeep? Hope you still have it ,looking for ward to seeing it in your videos like before !
Same awesome adventures but a new rig. I sold the Jeep a few months ago.
Awesome views!
What cross bars are on the 4runner? LFD, Victory, or DIY? How noisy are they without a front fairing?
They are LFD cross bars. I don’t notice the noise at all. I’ve had em on long enough I can’t remember the sound difference for no cross bars, but I don’t ever think about them up there.
@@mikeoldham Thanks, I've been debating on which to get
@@discopatrol. I have a cross bar and fairing set on my 4Runner , get the bundle with the wind fairing. It helps what little noise there is and you can add lights later if you want. I chose LFD after Mikes recommendation and you can upgrade it to a full rack and use same crossbars, saves money.
i know this is a long shot but at 11:54 you are looking down at the river and there is a boat launch. any chance you can help me find that? what area would you say that is in? thanks a ton
It’s Bulter Wash Put-in north of Green River Utah
@@BackroadExploration awesome... thank you!
Do you happen to have a map of the trails/roads you drove for this video? I was wondering how you got to the top of that mesa.
I do. I’m working on a resource to share it with people who watch my content.
Very nice filming. I like your content but man, you don't know what to do with hands when talking :-))
I talk with my hands I don’t know what else to say.
Yes......drone & video are EXcellent.......I need more practice !
