The main problem with flips when learning is trying to flip the board before it’s even left the ground. Just do a massive Ollie and then flip it when you are up there .
The main thing that helped me start landing my heel flips was just some little YT short that said to pretend it’s just an Ollie but kick out your heel at the end. I didn’t know why, but it just works, I thought it was because my balance is just more dialed in when I Ollie but now I’m thinking it’s because when I Ollie im not worried as much about what my lower leg has to do, which allows me to bring my knee forward further/faster. I’m gonna try them again with this cue instead and see if I get a similar result.
@@gordyy7949 idk where you're at but around me I can find patches of dry unsalted concrete here and there. Don't let the winter and snow stop you from shredding bro!!
@@MORI-ij6vp im in nc it doesnt snow much here but when it does ill have my garage. This is my first ever winter skating ive only been skating for around 6 months
I was always comfortable with heel flips before kick flips. Still my go-to trick at 47 years old! I never really thought about the technique, but I rewatched the ones I recorded, and my knee is definitely way ahead of my foot!
At first i thought your thumbnail was just clickbait but your content is really amazing! I love how you analyze how pro's do tricks and break it down. I think your channel has become one of my favorites now 🔥🔥🙌
I think you would get more height/pop on your heel flips in you wait a little longer before you flip the board, it’s only like a fraction of a second and it’s more of a feeling thing. It’s kind of like a back flip, you have to focus on jumping up first, if you try to initiate the flip before you have reached the apex of your jump all your energy goes into the rotation instead of the ascension.
Bro i subbed cause i like your personality, you're down to earth and humble. SS heel on the other hand is a bit more challenging to get a tweak on somehow. Would be nice to see a vid on SS heel neen style.
I am def going to give these another shot tonight at the Skatepark. Never been able to get a heelflip, only landed switch heels weirdly enough. Also, I met Jamie back in October at Tampa Pro and just the nicest fuckin dude you could possibly encounter. Props to Foy!
i was there last year when i learned heelflips. i was always better in them til i wanted the neen williams flick which i succeded BUT be aware that if you manage to flick it that way the hardest part for me was to bring the board back because it flies in front of you as you can see. I was able to catch it but i would land always on the tip of the tail, til i slipped out of the tail and sprained my ankle. So since a year i did not try them anymore. to achieve that what neen does, i was focussing to do more an ollie than a heelflip and then when you almost jumping you just kick it out hard and it works wunderfull. PS: i like how you descirbed it with the "Knee in front of the Nose"..i probably wasnt doing that.... greetings JOE, keep going
Agreed! Never could heel flip before watching the Neen Williams heel flip tutorial. Have to put my front foot on differently and hang toes bit back foot in the pocket is clutch! Then hang foot off the nose for a sec.
Neen does the real gnarly ninja kick style. Stoked you are committed to a tre flip every video. And the second you said basketball court I thought of the cement at my elementary school that I first started skating on, rough and gritty as hell 🤣
Neen’s heelflip is also a product of popping off the heel side of the tail(goofy) with back foot instead of popping dead center. Counter pressures the front foot placement and give you more pop I think
Ohh you cracked the board. Are you going to go back to the Roberts twin tail. You had a great session. I am definitely a heelfliper first. But I have a weird thing about them, I can only do them on a bank or fakie in flat. I haven't figured out just a regular heelflip yet. The channel is great. I am glad it is providing a little for you. Keep it going and stay rad Sir.
Yo dude , loving the content , been watching a few of Ur vids and subbed 😁 Definite improvement on the heels there man , I found the biggest thing that helped my heels is setting up the back foot right in the opposite corner pocket, helps me get a nice high Heelflip when I land em lol give it a go man 😁
Great video like always. Just an observation: I noticed @ 4:40 your back foot comes off the board before the tail even hits the ground. It would pop higher if the board isn't leveled out so soon.
Hell yeah dude!!! Diggin' your content as always 👌 Making time to skate hasn't been the easiest lately, though I should be able to sneak a session in before work tomorrow, gonna put some time in with Heelflips 🔥👍🔥
notice that Neen's toe doesn't hang over the front of the board when he sets up his heelflips. This made the biggest difference in getting my heelflips looking and feeling better
ive heard neen say the best position for heelflips is to just use your same ollie position but flick out to the pcket. ever since my heelflips have dramatically improved
Skateboard side of me: Wow Perfect video gonna go try to heel flip now. Basketball side of me: get of my damn court. Matters what I’m there for that day 😂😂😂
I can’t get heelflips to save my life. I can’t figure out my body weight when popping. My board lands a good foot or two in front of me (the direction I’m rolling). I’ve noticed when looking at footage of myself trying heelflips that I’m almost jumping backwards (fakie direction) but I cannot get my body to jump forward or straight up & down no matter how hard I focus on it…. I’m really struggling. I’ve landed 5 heelflips so far but obviously it was just luck. Please if anyone else had the same issue, what helped?
If by some miracle I got good enough and my body could take it hell yeah but odds are I’d never reach a level where I feel like I deserve but that is what I’m chasing just not sure there’s enough time but I’m gonna keep chasing
pop it harder like you going to do a real big ollie and soak up those legs into a ninja kick… like a kick flip and try and catch it with the back foot… remember you want it to flip going upwards and catch it with your back foot at the peak of jump or Ollie or pop… luan does it the best imo
Man, your evolution is CLEAR for me. Anyone else who sees this?
The main problem with flips when learning is trying to flip the board before it’s even left the ground. Just do a massive Ollie and then flip it when you are up there .
Your style is finally starting to tighten up . I have been watching your progress and that half cab was crispy

never looked at it like this im gonna try it next session

This is how I learned my heelflips, i just thought of them like an ollie but then i kick straight out at the end just as you said
Been watching Neen’s kickflips for a while now but something about seeing Jamie Foy do em in this vid made it really click. Thanks for this!
Plz don't stop with this series🙏👊

subbed, keep going. you’re going far my friend.
I’m about to go outside and practice these tips. Heel flip, I’m coming for you!
great advice! I've definitely neglected the heelflip . This makes me wanna get out and get heelflippin
You should! best trick

Beautiful heel flip Jamie Foy!!
Love these detailed skate tips! Thanks!
Good stuff bro! Proud of the progress!
this is what i needed to see thank you.

I talk about this in a different video but it’s totally agree 💯
Nice tutorial thank you for helping me how to make good heels
No problem thanks for watching and commenting! ❤️🙏🏼

Nice video! Leading with the knee really helped learning switch heels

Your heelflips are pretty consistent looking though! I wanna take this approach soon and start heelflipping more.
lol that board throw got me all kinds of hyped I always be throwing my shit
Look into some epoxy or black JB weld for razor tail. It's saved me a lot of money on decks while keeping my pop
notice that Neen's toe doesn't hang over the front of the board when he sets up his heelflips. This made the biggest difference in getting my heelflips looking and feeling better

my board always breaks when I try frontside lipslide
Diggin the music on this one
I love heelflips
Heelflips are so weird to me cause I always get so close but I don’t have like any control

Put 70% of your weight on your front foot
@@localjoe I’ll try that out next session thanks man
@Young Nino thanks bro
I landed one I’m proud of 😎
U definitely got a buttery heel and I noticed u don't hang those toes as much
Foy's mobster heelflips are disgusting. Very satisfying.
Nice video (:
U have to do kyonosuke secret to switch heels!
I learned heelflips first way before kickflips but I kickfliped a 6 stair and never heelflipped one so yeah lol
I feel the little rage I hate it when I don’t get the tricks, I usually do first try every time
You look like Jamie Foy as well
Hermano tus videos tienen muy buena Vibra
Love your content and do u want to become pro one day or just stay a yt skater?
If by some miracle I got good enough and my body could take it hell yeah but odds are I’d never reach a level where I feel like I deserve but that is what I’m chasing just not sure there’s enough time but I’m gonna keep chasing
Jake Hayes has trick tips on tiktok!
big brain perception
Dont ever remove the practice sessions plz
Gonna make separate longer videos for the practice sessions i think
Neen starts with his foot pitched about 15%, like Ishod. He just slides it six more inches than Ishod.
