I am having the same issue. Bought new toner thinking it was the cartridges. But new cartridges did not resolve the issue. HP really should be responsible for this service. There is no way a 500 dollar printer should have this issue with less than one year of service. Thank you for sharing the disassembly process
Bilal, thank you my friend! You have saved our printer from the landfill. Once we had it apart we took the mirrors out completely by removing the metal clips, wiped each with isopropyl alcohol, dried with micro fiber wearing gloves to prevent finger prints, cleaned all the plastic lenses and reassembled. print quality returned to acceptable levels, but still was not factory new and it bugged me enough to rip it apart again a few months later... this is when I noticed a critical step missing from your tutorial. This time i noticed the metal square and motor assembly in the center was also quite contaminated with dust and film. I cleaned that square motor - some models I've seen videos on are hexagonal but particularly the edge of the metal on top which shined to a mirror surface after we cleaned it and BOOM printer is back to it was like day one. I was ready to replace the laser component and ultimately the entire printer but this video has helped me save it!! hope my additional tip about the motor edge helps others! keep fixing things!!!!! and sharing the knowledge gained! thanks again be well
Same here, after cleaning that square mirror on the motor, BAM - magenta missing 🤣 Misaligned one of the mirrors 🫣😅 But yeah, BOOM, perfect printout again, thanks for your comment on that. PS: don't try to remove the laser PCB to clean the diods, did that on another HP in the past, it's pressed in and will die if you try to remove it 😱

So how do you break these tabs on these left and right side cover. Obviously, almost impossible if doing for the first time. So what is the trick. Is there a tool where you can cut 1 or 2 of the Tabs off. I did manage to Pry the cover up with curve tool( Mini-Cutters), then stick in slim Electrical Guage Wire Cutter & Holer Tool to cut a few off. Then use loads of little std screwdriver to pry every 2 or 3 inches , finally but thing loose.
Nice informative video!! I tried the same steps, glass was very smoky, I cleaned it but still print quality is not good. Toners are 90% full Is there any other steps you suggest? Thank you
I just purchased the M277dw at an estate sale 8/4/23. It fired right up and connected to my wifi and printed Black and White fine but it would not print color well at all. The prints were very dark and undefined. Also if I set the media to plain paper as is in the printer and then slid the quality to high it would make the sound of paper acceptance but then would stop and just reveal that the printer was thinking - for 10 minutes before I gave up. Beings it is 3 times the price new ($1300) of my M283cdw ($430) it should be worth the fix. But. Id like to know where I can have it done as I would not attempt this myself. As I only paid 45 for the printer with 2 full cartridges I think it would be worth it. The new HP cartridges were themselves worth $200. ( I haven't yet tried the copier or scanner )

Hi Bilal, I contact you, because I see, that you are an experienced engineer. My HP Printer (m283fdw) stopped working with a laser scanner fault.
