  • More Canadians are now dying of overdoses than motor-vehicle accidents and homicides combined. Due to this drastic rise in overdose, Naloxone no longer requires a prescription to be sold in pharmacies if indicated for emergency use for opioid overdose. Overdoses can be caused by prescription medication and usually occur in private homes beyond the immediate reach of doctors and nurses. There is a way you can help someone who is experiencing an opioid overdose, without having any specialized medical training.

The opioid crisis has a tight grip on North America and it is up to us to promote community education. Great job.

Bad advice to call 911 first. Person can die while you're on phone. Admister, then dial! Better yet, get someone else to call while you administer Narcan.

I live in Tucson, AZ USA. The "free" kits only come with the basic intramuscular needles(2) and vials(2).

I think there is a lot of stigma around the kit and this video (as also seen in this video). You don’t have to be a user or know someone who is to get this free of cost in Ontario. I recommend to consult the pharmacist, I found this video looking to see the retractable needles as I do not use them in the veterinary field.

I started carrying 2 doses in my edc ifak after my grandmother accidentally double dosed her new pain meds and nearly died. The paramedics said it took 2 doses for her to respond

I've actually just not long completed training and got some prenoxad(naloxone) as a pre filled syringe in a yellow case as in the UK I can legally own a kit if I have undergone training, which I have and have a kit as you never know.

My grandmother accidentally took extra pain meds when she forgot she already took it and overdosed. Plus for addicts it's not like they intentionally almost die

you say you need proper training for a naloxone kit, thats not true anymore, i just walked into any of the hospitals in my city, ask for one, they give you one, no questions asked, they do teach you how to use one if you need it, but i didnt as ive seen it before (a party i went to, someone overdosed, no one had a kit, medics show up and use their narcan kit
