My biggest gripe with the series was the lack of insight into how they train and prepare for races. Track practices are super intense and meticulous but they barely showed that, it def could have replaced some of the repetitive monologues.
The dialogues were definitely super repetitive. I agree they should have shown way more technical stuff in the training - the most they did show were strides and a snippet of pool work with Jacobs.
I really liked the series, it did increase a lot my interest in sprinting, will definitely check that out in the Olympics. My only pet peeve is that I think it was a little too biased towards the americans, which I understand cause their target audience is probably americans and Noah and Sha'Carri have huge personalities but it would be nice to have a little bit more balance
I'm a super casual sprint fan, used to watch Usain Bolt in his last years but pretty much stopped after he retired. I was still super excited for this series because imo Netflix has produced a lot of great sports documentaries. I have watched four episodes now and I gotta say I'm a little disappointed. The first two episodes were exciting and fresh but by the third I got super bored. They are so obviously formulaic and superficial because the series uses the cliche sports documentary script: 1. athlete X at home playing with his/her family 2. Superficial training montage 3. Coach hypes the athlete and the athlete says he/she is going to "kill everyone" (as you said calm down) 4. The American sprinter miraculously wins Idk I might still finish the series since it's so short but I won't be holding my breath for a second season

Good point. They are probably more marketable because of their loud personality.

Yeah it feels just fine and quite forgettable. Your description of that formula is painfully accurate.
I hated the sepia colour editing and couldn’t finish the series.
Gotta change the name of the channel
Love the content tho
Might have to look into this…
