I'm expecting my second child this June. And, I'm going to take a four-month maternity leave.
But I know for so many folks, it feels like such a long maternity leave is not an option because, well, bills gotta get paid. Plus babies are expensive.
But I assure you, I'll still be getting paid during those four months. So in this video, I share three different ways to get paid during parental leave when you work for yourself in private practice. There are probably many more ways to go about this, but these are the three avenues I'm using to pay myself for four months while not working.

People need to take at least 6 months. The US is sooo behind when it comes to this. I relocated from Germany and I have 2 years paid leave.

Congrats Marie! Hoping to be able to get to a place in my practice where I can get paternity leave when I'm ready to have kids.

I needed this. I'm starting maternity leave from my agency and am considering resigning to go into Private Practice (I take my LCSW exam in Sept. Right now I'm researching Better Help, Talk Space, and local private practice groups).

Congratulations on the pregnancy. I am also expecting a baby in May. I just looked up tx disability benefits and it looks like they will pull my income and w2. How are you able to scale theu this and still get the funds.

Congrats on your baby arriving soon! Exciting! I could use some clarification on your question...there is a bit of info you have to compile in order to access the disability funds. If you are self-employed (and therefore you don't have a W2), then at least in the state of California there is a separate application process to reflect that. Is that what you might be asking about?

What would be your advice to someone who wants to take a longer maternity leave but is the only person that specializes in a population in their geographic region?

Rather than a RUclips channel I've been thinking of starting a blog. Do you have any resources for starting a blog for profit? Thanks!

congrats on the baby ! :)) I was wondering if I should become a therapist but im not sure if I should go full time I saw your video on how you made six figures and you called it a side hustle so I was wondering if you were something else too besides the other things

My two sources of income are my private practice (I see 8 clients a week) and Private Practice Skills - which includes this RUclips channel and the various income streams I cover in that video about earning 6 figures. I do all of that in 2 days a week and the rest of the week I'm at home with my toddler :) Hope that helps!
