    Thank you for all your practice suggestions. I've been a full time pastor for 46 years and a part time therapist for 38. I'm now retiring from pastoral ministry and transitioning to more of a full time therapy practice. Your videos are really helpful.

    Hi Marie, I wanted to give you a positive comment. I have changed my copy on one platform based on your suggestions here. And I forgot about it, suddenly I am noticing more and more people asking for my services. And I suddenly remembered that I adapted the copy. So, thank you. And also - this works.

    Very helpful and entertaining -- thank you! A couple profiles I saw started out "My ideal client is one who...." I felt like that made me feel like a failure as a client without even going there!

    of the waves of the emotions that I experience?

    to blissful happiness
    and everything in between.

    Actually, I'm kind of surprised at this. If the first sentence is not an opening for new patients, why even have an active profile here? I'm an editor and this is like me saying "I am booked and not taking new clients." What does it matter what the rest of it says? As a potential client or patient, I'd move on.

    Hi Marie, thanks so much for all the knowledge you share on here. I'll be graduating next year and your videos are helping me to prepare to launch! I noticed that in your video you mentioned not needing Psychology Today to fill your practice. What have been the most effective lead generators for you in that case?

    I wonder if there is a difference in the amount of inquiry between PsyD/PhD, LMFT, LCSW, and LPCC from this directory. I used some of those helpful tips you provide in my profile. In my experience, a lot of the inquiries that come in seem to show that those clients don't even read my profile. For instance, they would ask for couples therapy or family therapy, when my profile specifically state that I only accept individual adults at this time. I'm an LMFT. It makes me wonder if clients understand that clinicians who are not psychologists can also provide treatment for various clinical needs. I have friends who are psychologists who receive a lot of inquiries from Psychology Today, but my fellow LMFTs seem to experience something different. Of course, that's just my experience.

      That's an interesting point! I had an entire rant related to this that I cut out from the video because it was such a long video. My experience has also been that folks hadn't read my full profile before reaching out (e.g., asking for my rate or whether I accept insurance when it's clearly stated on my profile). This doesn't seem to happen for folks finding my website in a Google search. I wonder if this reflects differences in how people use Psychology Today as opposed to finding a therapist through Google search. I have no idea but it would be interesting to learn about!

    But why update, maintain and pay for a listing if one isn't taking new clients? Is there a benefit?

      Great question! I took mine down after this video - I just wanted to show you what I was doing wrong before I took it down (and I didn't technically update it I just pointed out what I'd change 😉)

    Thank you 🙏 really helpful as always - maybe just a bit of self love would be nice to display 😇 I feel you are too tough to yourself i.e. acoustically made clear when something wrong ok your profile but not applauding yourself when something good 😉...I hope the feedback it’s ok...it’s from a place of love 💕

    I'm not a therapist or studying to be one! I'm on the the other side of the cough and I stumbled on your videos and I love your videos, very interesting! But I was looking for a therapist but probably chicken out! I used the psychology today there's so much on their profile! I saw a couple of black and White photos! Thought that was funny! Also the pages are way to long and no website and a website would be great because I mostly scrolled down to the end of the page after 2 paragraphs because it felt way to LONG!
    ALSO its overwhelming but they want to show us the clients i guess that they are professional and list xy&z! I lover profile! But I emailed 3 therapist and they where all booked so I tried 1 more time and she's on vacation for 2 weeks but we sechuldel an appointment I have 2 weeks to jump ship because this is sign I don't need to see a therapist!

    It would have been helpful to show examples after you've reviewed the profile instead of talking about what you'd change.

    *Of course you’re making mistakes. Kind of like when Srini Pillay called telepathy a phenomenon and magically forgot that the definition for PHENOMENON is “observable fact”. How a Harvard doctor/author mistook such an easy word (and for the reviewer to magically make the mistake of not knowing what the word PHENOMENON means too) is BEYOND me.*

  • @earlaweese
    @earlaweese 2 года назад

    *”The Biology of Telepathy” by Srini Pillay was posted on Psychology Today. It was REVIEWED by LYBI MA. I just don’t understand HOW two EXPERTS made mistakes about SIMPLE words. “Phenomenon” isn’t an extremely nuanced word!!!*
