Guilty as charged 😐. I habitually ask this question. You´re absolutely right... I do pre-teach explain the needed vocab, but there´s not enough time to really explore or practice it. So the students get a first exposure, but I fear it often doesn´t stick after they walk out of the classroom.
We've all done it at some point! 🤦♀ And I agree - unless there's also time to practice and reinforce the vocab, it probably doesn't stick for very long.
