It is so refreshing to listen to the perspectives of professionals discussing their feelings, this is about my 60th year of carrying a camera with me wherever I go and I now appreciate the value of my hobby without suffering from the pressure of having strangers critique my efforts. My camera and one of my motorbikes heading for nowhere in particular and without a plan to photograph a specific image, therapeutic bliss!

Great interview Lucy! I think you are questioning many topics that creative photographers are facing in a modern competitive world in a very eloquent way! The point about feeling we should always be creating is very true, it is as if everything in the present is more important than what we shot a month ago. If I have developed a few roles of film and it's months later I feel strange is it right to post let's say a winter photo in the summertime. We live in an instant world literally, but this is just social conditioning and it's good to push back, slow down a bit and do it your way.

When you are phone all day for home inspections and work I will never use my phone for fun photography. If real cameras went away I would leave photography before using my phone
