How to Improve Your Lung Capacity

  • When singers lack the stamina to make it through a long phrase, or sustaining a high note as long as they would like to, is this due to poor lung capacity?
    There may be other factors at play, but improving your lung capacity by improving range of motion for your breathing anatomy can help a great deal!
    The best thing you can do to improve range of motion for your breathing anatomy is to release and stretch the characteristically tight, overactive muscles and tissues that make it difficult to fully expand your abdomen and ribcage. This video offers some simple myofascial release movements you can perform every day that can help increase your lung capacity as well as promote greater ease and freedom with your breath coordination generally.
