Grandma has confidence with her baking. Please do more baking with grandma!! She has so much knowledge pertaining, to cooking & other things. Have a blessed day & thankyou.
Thank you so much for this recipe. I've been looking for a while for a recipe that's old school. My Grandma use to make it exactly like this. I could not remember exactly how she did it , I was a teenager. . I made it & it was Great. Seeing u and u're aunt, remind me of me & my grandma. Love her. Cherish her. Much Love.
In the Pacific Islands, we crate it n then mix it with coconut cream and bake it in earth oven or in Papua New Guinea we call it mumu. We do the same with casava, taro, yam and banana. Good to learn that we hve something in common
traditionally in Jamaica, it is baked in a pot outside with hot coals on top and under the pan. It is called 'Hell a top and Hell a bottom with Halleluya in the middle'.
lol, its funny and quite surreal as this reminded me of my grandmothers cooking. the old way is truly by instinct which makes it so signature to them. One can never truly replicate.Food is always divine. :D
Grandma I made my pudding, the first time U 've ever tried to! My husband is an Antiguan and he keep saying it's the best he has ever eaten! Thank you so so much Grandma! I've never interested in baking now I bake something, even twice a week!!
Beautiful.....your Aunt is indeed the expert.....I love the texture of this.....looks like puddin’ instead of cake ....looks very moist...can’t wait to make this♥️♥️♥️👍🏾👍🏾
The TRADITIONAL WAY OF BAKING SWEET POTATO PUDDING IS ON COLE MAKE FROM BURNING WOOD IN A KILN. IN A COLE POT WITH HOT COLE ON TOP PLACE ON METAL sheet and hot cole in the cole pot. The container wit the sweet potato pudding mixture is placed. 3hrs normal time for baking pudding this way.😊🇯🇲
I’m the palest, blonde, 53 year old woman you’ve ever met, but your auntie is my kinda lady! What I wouldn’t give to spend some time with her in the kitchen! When I grow up, I want to be just like her! Btw, I fully intend on making this, give that beautiful woman a hug for me!
Now this is the sweet potato pudding I remember. Nowadays folks are making some sort of dark, hard & tough something & calling it sweet potato pudding...😠
Yes yes yes. This is how it should be made. I used to make it but could not remember how. I am seeing people pack it up with flour and cornmeal and that only makes it very tough. This is how I used to do it. Thank you very much much for this recipe. Gonna make it today. I will just use a lot less sugar
I did make this two weeks ago and it was tremendous....the coco yam takes it to another pleasant level. I think I added too much extra butter though because I love ❤️ butter so much. I have also made the sardine recipe.....also wonderful 👍🏾
Best recipe so far. Only thing missing is the soft top which I love. I’ve viewed a few recipes that made me nauseous just thinking about the ingredients like adding soaked bread in it. Love your auntie’s recipe because her measurements are like mine ... you add some thing and if the aroma, look or feel doesn’t seem right, just add a bit more of something.
You probably dont care at all but does any of you know of a tool to get back into an instagram account?? I was stupid lost the password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me
This looks yummy and delicious. Big up yuh self grandma yuh a wah good. Old school traditional Jamaican pudding. Many thanks to grandma mi a go try this now. Ps: you forgot to add the amount of sugar.
Hi! Thank You so much, for this originally recipe, I'm from Dominican Republic. And that the way we do the Sweet potatoes, cake. I 'll tray it. Thank you. Thank to your Aunty. Att. Maggie
Thank you for the time and effort, you have allocated to this recipe. I am very drawn to the softer consistency. And will therefore use this clearly timeless method!
I recently attempted a sweet potato pudding recipe using the orange sweet potatoes & no coco or yam. Came out on the soft side. Will give your recipe a shot on my next attempt. Nice man!
OMG, That's EXACTLY how sweet potato pudding is supposed to look. Wish I could get those potatoes here in AZ. Me da go mek it right now!! Thank you so much! Couldn't remember how to make it and all the videos on RUclips just weren't hitting the nail on the head!!
No Baking powder And No cornmeal Please Listen To This Jamaican 🇯🇲 Woman She's Been Doing This Her Way For Years So it's Very Authentic Wow She's The Only One I've Came Across Who Does Her Sweet Potato 🍠 Pudding This Way And It Came Out Beautifully Wow Hands Down 🙌🏿

Hello there I like your videos from One Jamaica to the other I love how you speak unlike some other Jamaican sometime they over do it real backyard Patois much blessings
Since that was a large about we used 1 small box of brown sugar. Will correct it in the description. But feel free to adjust it to a the amount you're making
Hello granny your sweet potato pudding looks delicious but I think eddos you would put in it would make it taste different I don't like eddos but it still looks delicious big up your self granny
I love it! Gramma was very certain she wanted NO BAKING POWDER in that pudding! It looks sooooo good! Is it just a regular sweet potato? It looks delicious!!!! What is the central taste of the pudding?
"If unu waa guh tear up fi unu finga, yuh caa grate it but, that's what blender is for." So true. The original Jamaican version is made in a cast iron or aluminium pot with a lid. The pot is set on a wood or charcoal fire while a second charcoal fire burns on the lid. I'm therefore surprised that no one has thought of using the broiler at any point in the process.
Me going mek a few of them now since I found some AUTHENTIC sweet potatoes in a little farmers market in Hanes city Florida I just need to run go get some coconut milk and a few items from the store.
What did you do with the ground foods like the yam and the potatoes, did you grater or blend them together with water? Volume was too low also could hardly hear.
Auntie was giving me anxiety watching her say the measurements and then just dash however much she wanted. Now I know how people feel watching me cook and why I have to kick them out of the kitchen.
We mix sugar and all wet ingredients in the coconut milk before adding to the potatoes mix all dry ingredients, then combine ,do not over mix ,add a topps of browning for color as well, just a suggestion, and if you use corn starch instead of flour yr.pudding is to die for ,try it out .
God bless all of the Jamaicans grandma they know how to bake the best Jamaican sweet potato pudding...🙌😀🙏😃🙌

Good to learn that we hve something in common

traditionally in Jamaica, it is baked in a pot outside with hot coals on top and under the pan. It is called 'Hell a top and Hell a bottom with Halleluya in the middle'.
Why can’t I see the amt of sugar?
Why can’t see the amt of sugar?
The other root that is not sweet potato or yam...could I use yuca instead?
We are the same people thats why
