Nice, It's a great boat! The wiring wasn't the worst. You will need to cut the attached harness that is on the boat , then I used watertight heat shrink connectors to attach the wires to the head unit. If your speaker wires are not marked left and right, be sure and test them before you shrink and permanently connect them. I looked every where for a harness adapter that would work with no luck. If you come across one by chance, let us know. Good Luck, and enjoy your Boat!
I have a crestliner 1750 superhawk that came with factory installed Jensen. I’m now seeing moisture after 10yrs of owning it. I’m thinking this video should be all the help I need to switch the stereo to the boss mgr350b Wish they had blue tooth in the Jensen 10yrs ago. But now without that and the moisture I think it’s time to switch it. Thanks for posting this video. Ps. What crestliner do you have ?
@@DeanoOutDoors How yoy liking the sportfish? I was thinking about upgrading to a Alumacraft 1950 trophy. But not sure I wanna spend the $ just yet. I need to get a kicker on my current boat. Then I gotta get a livescope. I do all kinda of fishing, salmon, musky, trout, walleye etc. I did repair a lot of my current boat. I hate how to hook for the trailer is up high. I found if you are at a shallow water launch and the trolling motor is going straight off the tip its gonna hit. So I had to readjust where the dealer had put the minn kota. Then the paint was chipping so now I fixed that and no loosen the straps so its not constantly rubbing it. The panel where the battery is under the dash on the starboard side is a pain in the ass. I found the wood just bored itself out, Crestliner should have put a metal bracker at the back so the screw would catch on, so I took the panel off and put one on. Now the 3 screws that go into the floor bored out so I had to make a L bracket and put it on the floor and cuz its apanel in the L shape the bracket would be in bottom right corner of the L . I had taken the IP instruments out and put in a merc montitor and found that crestliner cheaped out and used ruber grommets for the screws in the IP, so I then had to make little tabs of metal stick where there were. So many flaws I have fixed, kinda worries me when I upgrade what I am gonna have to deal with.... this boat is almost perfect now, but there are times when I wish it was bigger so I could have more ppl out at a time. I also made a musky revival box, it drains out the side hole I had the dealership drill and put connections on for it. So a new boat would definitely require me to make a way to drain the revival box when its pumping water in. I know Charlie Wray of the fishful thinking show had a boat once that had a full size musky tank built in, but I cant seem to find which model that was. But anyhow, eventually I gotta upgrade.
Wow, sounds like you have a lot of time into that boat. I had zero problems with the 1650 fishhawk and loved it so much that I went with another Crestliner. I was in the same boat,😁 I needed more space and wanted to troll the Great Lakes so I decided to upgrade to the 1850 Sportfish. So far it’s been Great. There is so much space inside and the deep sidewalls makes it perfect for larger bodies of water. Overall, it’s a nice dry ride, fishes four very easy and the build quality seems to be good quality, time will tell though. I just like that’s it’s an all welded construction, to me it looks better then riveted. I have a walkthrough video of it on my channel if you’re interested.
Forgive me, but why did you resize the cut out hole to fit the U bracket shape? I am not expert, but shouldn't the U bracket sit flush to the back of the cut out hole? This would give it a purchase against the back of the cut out hole to provide a secure attachment.
Hello, Thanks for the question. In my situation, that was the only way I could get the bracket into the cutout. The area where my radio sits is fully enclosed around it, with just a little opening behind it. I had to have it installed to the head unit ahead of time because I couldn't get it started from the inside after the radio was inserted. After it was in place, I was able to turn the bracket 45 degrees and tighten it up. Hope that helps.
It is still working great. However, on hot humid days, if the sun is beating down on the unit, I have seen some moisture behind the faceplate. It hasn't affected the performance yet, and goes away later in the day. I have seen this moisture on other brand units as well in the same conditions. Hope this helps!
Nice video! I need help, i want to delete the cd radio in my car but replace it with an bluetooth amp of 240watt, for now i like the product but i want to have it turned on when i turn my car on so i can conect to it whitout need to push the start bouton on the player, it is possible thet this player turns on with the car? Thanks a lot !
Hello, good question. Yes, this radio has the ability to turn on when you turn on the power source to the vehicle it is in. There will be a second power supply wire that you need to connect. Thanks.
The system sounds really good. They are loud, but if the bass is set to max and you turn the volume way up, it starts to get distorted. If I'm going to have the unit cranked up, I usually adjust the bass down some to help with this. You could buy the unit without the speakers and get higher end speakers which would help with the distortion also.
This unit came with the cheap wire antenna, so I just ran it under the steering console for now, but I am planning on getting a better antenna and mounting it to the side of the console in the near future. With the one supplied, your not going to get much for reception in the Northwoods.
Good Question, I should had shown this in the video. There is a metal mounting bracket that attaches the the head unit and slides thru the wider area cutout. I then turned the unit 45 degrees so that the bracket sits behind the round part of the cutout and tighten it up.
Late to the party - but same issue with wiring harness on the Crestliner that I'm trying to solve for. Don't think there is an aftermarket harness for the radio. What did you do with the yellow wire from the Boss unit? Did you splice the Yellow/Red together and if you did, do you have any issues with memory from the unit?
Yeah, I wish they made a harness adaptor, that would be so much quicker to install. The yellow wire is your constant power source, this should be connected to the constant 12v per source. The red wire should be connected to the switched power supply. My boat had both the yellow and red wires pre installed, I just had to splice into them. I hope this makes sense. Best of luck.
I know the video doesn't catch the real sound, But what would you give the sound quality? If you don't mind please when you get a chance come check out my Boat Budget Build that I have going.
I had to splice into the factory installed plug. I could not find an aftermarket adapter that fit. If anyone else has found one, please let us know. Thanks 👍
To see how I installed the marine speakers, watch this video here: ruclips.net/video/s0LJc2kx_wU/видео.html
That's the only time to work on the boat wen it rains lol any other time I'm on it lol nice video jus ordered one
Yes, that is the best time to work on it for sure. Your going to enjoy the unit! Stay safe on the water.
That’s the best song
I know right! Just happened to be playing when I recorded~
I have same boat and same stereo. I have the speakers installed but the head unit is next. How hard is it to wire?

What kind of battery do you have installed? Because right now i only have a start battery fitted for powering up my engine.
It's wired to my 12v starter battery. That should work fine for you.
Do you know if this radio will shut off completely when the boat is not in use? I have a direct line but don’t want to drain battery.
Yes, it will shut down completely when wired properly. I have mine wired to the auxiliary switch on my boat.

Bluetooth is great on this unit. This install was done on a 1650 fishhawk. I had upgraded to the 1850 sportfish early last year.

definitely gonna check that vid out now thanks@@DeanoOutDoors
Do you need an extra amplifier or is the receiver work as the amplifier? Tia!
No need to add an amplifier. The unit works good without one. These are the same stereos that are factory installed on most new boats.

Where you get the harness ? I got same radio and speaker
I couldn't find the correct harness, so I spliced the wires together with waterproof butt slices and shrink tubing.

The wires came pre-installed on my Boat

Thank you Tim Hugg.

Can you do four speaks so it’s the whole boat?
Yes, you could add four speakers if you wanted to.
