All of the advice given here is good. Other things are to turn rumble off, take frequent small breaks, and be mindful of how you use your hands in other daily activities; a common thing is people who type a lot and aren't mindful of the position of their hands and wrists. Stretch daily and go to the doctor if you have any lasting pain.
I definitely agree with the grip aspect of your advice. I played Tennis in high school and the best thing that I was taught was having a loose grip on your racquet and not clutching it with a lot of pressure, which will hurt your arm/hand. Obviously there's more going on than a gaming controller but the concept is important! In general your body should be relaxed and not tense when playing.
Dillon beroog just remember this is the guy who spaces his float just in range of short-hop charge-shot so that he can air dodge within pixels above it
I've been actively trying to loosen my grip for some time now but it seems that whenever I really get into it I go back to tensing up.. It's really difficult for me :/
go into your bathroom at home, plug the drain in the sink, fill that sucker up with hot water and soak for a few minutes feels amazing when my wrists/hands/fingers hurt
The cold hands thing makes sense, because it can make your muscles stiff or tense up. Also the controller size and shape thing makes sense, which is why there are multiple shapes and sizes of mice and stuff so your hand doesn't need to contort or scrunch up in a weird way to grip. Also clawing probably leads to faster hand pain.
Not sure if this has been posted yet, but this is an amazing guide for hand health, and health in general for melee players: smashboards.com/threads/staying-healthy-a-guide-to-playing-melee-better-and-longer.332355/
I can confirm as an eSports player myself, playing any game with a low temperature is bad for your hands. A cold room makes the muscles tense and can lead to tearing if you don't warm them up often. This is coming from a guy who used to play competitive shooters AND Smash. Trust me, it's not a good idea because your hands could start cramping during practice, or just not move the way you want them. Never should you keep playing if your hands feel tense, I learned that the hard way. For injuries in general, if you start feeling constant pain that doesn't go away after resting for one or two weeks, tell your doctor like any athlete should.
I have had carpal tunnel for years without knowing how bad it was im healing it slowly now my advice is to stretch and heat then ice your hands can hurt when cold because when you ice you're contracting your muscles and tendons so they aren't going to move easily Do Not use hands after icing hope i and all of you get better!
Your hands actually being cold may actually play a role in how tightly you grip your controller. The colder your muscles are the more stiff they are. So even though people make fun of Armada for the heat packs, it may actually be helping.
I personally wouldn't believe the cold hands thing because I always get told my hands are warm and I play melee in my room which everyone points out as being way too hot when I think it's fine, but I still experience some hand pains.
Some tips for if you're sick. I think if you're sick, staying in bed to rest is important. I also feel like going to the doctor is something to think about. But going to the doctor isn't always necessary though. Even you might think it is, it might not be though. Anyways, I've never been sick since I was a child, so I could be wrong...
I just started playing recently like weeks and I have marfan's disease so my wrist is already killing me. I'm going to switch to the frame 1 when the next shipment drops
Guys can you help me? i was playing WoW,LoL and alot games for 10years everyday without scretching or something, and now i have pain in my hand and waist 24/7 knuckles pain sometimes convulsions ..maybe it's not from playing,i visited doctors and they said i dont have carpal tunel they did not find anything I just got pills for pain and it does not help... someone has experience with it? im desperate
Now that Slippy online is here, I have never played so much before. My left thumb is tired. The real solution is obvious to play less or play less crazy.
Practice an instrument, especially guitar or piano. Practicing an instrument is really good hand exercise. I know it helps me with my typing speed and with pretty much anything else involving my hands. I have also never experienced hand pain when playing Smash.
If none of this helps and you still want to play melee you should maybe not play fox or falco at least. I'm no expert as I don't even really play melee, but it seems logical that a character that requires less inputs per second will put less stress on your hands.
Cancer yeah pressing buttons harder than necessary is like the first issue ppl have, if you are going for movement techs pad is rough with your left hand if you use pad, that's the biggest advantage of using stick on tekken
loose grip is hard to get your body to do but it's worth the extra effort! the strange thing for me is that i don't have any grip problems with the 64 controller but i do with GC and with computer mouse. I play rivals with an xbox controller and am able to get loose no problem. i have severe hand problems from playing classical bass but i am healing more and more.
Hahahahha its so funny how android is trying so hard while armada is just talking and giving tips
video length 4:20; Armada knows my solution.

I got a Tai Lopez ad before this video
Cold sucks, my fingers always lock up. I wear finger-less gloves made for arthritis because of it. I can't even type in the cold without them.
Which brand and product? Plus, are they comfortable when playing? I 've had issues for some time and am currently searching.
