    I have 20 year old Honda generators still going strong. They are built like tanks, used and abused them in my company in the rain and snow. They are proven.

    I have both of the same generators. One at home for backup, the other for the boat. I find the Pedrator seems a little bit quieter. Unfortunately neither one is working due to carb issues. Great video.

    Thank you for supporting my comrades in Japan, but I have a Predator 2000 which I use occasionally and it serves my needs well. I couldn't justify paying twice as much for the Honda unless I used it daily and required higher load capacity. Japanese people also value budgetary common sense.

      I agree, I think it’s hard to justify the Honda at twice the price

    If you disconnect them from each other I bet the Honda runs at a slightly higher voltage. This causes it to carry more of the load when connected in parallel.

      Good call. Too bad I don't have access to the Honda anymore to test that out.

    I may have missed this spec, but the Honda engine is 121cc and the predator is a 79cc Yamaha clone. The Honda will run at 2200 watts for 30 minutes until it shuts down. The Yamaha Clone will operate at 2000 watts for 30 seconds before shut down. Predators also lack authorized service centers. It is not possible to see into the future, but I feel more comfortable with the Honda since I live in Florida. Predators have a high failure rate and Harbor Freight relies on the purchase of a extended warranty for replacement. During a catastrophic event there will not be any generators on the shelf to replace your generator.
    Harbor Freight does not publish the cost of their Extended Service Protection plans online, but is seems it would be fairly easy. I have heard for the Predator 2000 it is $200 plus or minus one million dollars. The warranty is two years or 90 days depending on the maintenance.
    Just for your information the industry standard is at 23 feet. Also when you exceed any inverter generators maximum output the sine wave distorts and causes the inverter to overheat causing damage.
    Buy what you can afford, but if you can afford the Honda buy the Honda, but use proper break-in procedure for any generator. And for heaven's sake do not use synthetic oil for the break in period.

    I want to thank you for paralleling the Honda with a predator. I’ve always wondered about it. I have owned Honda generators for over 40 years on my fifth wheel and I live off the grid and I use them for back up power when the sun doesn’t shine for days at a time. When you did your comparison, you never showed us the output voltage. I believe the Honda usually has higher output voltage than most other generators. The higher output voltage will therefore make it share more of the load than the lower AC output voltage of the predator, 3:52 if that is the case. I would recommend you show us the voltage on your future video so that we can have this information available to us.
    Thanks for the information you made available.
    George.

      While I'm not sure I ever filmed it, yes, the Honda outputs a higher voltages. IIRC, it was about 123 while the Predator was about 119. So makes sense the Honda would take most of the load. OTOH, it does raise the question, of how efficient paralleling is in general, as two generators, even two of the same make and model might differ in output voltages.

    To me the issue comes down to reliability. Which one is less likely to fail on the job?

    new to RVing i have two predators 2000s i parallel i noticed one didn’t work in the texas heat. My question is is it safe to parallel them and sill use one of the outlets ?

    I own two EU2200's (companion and regular), and a Predator 2000 which I use as a "loaner" for family. The Predator is fairly quiet and the fuel gauge is nice, but there is absolutely no comparison between the Hondas' and the Predator as far as build quality or performance goes. The Hondas are far superior.

      What's the difference in performance? I have both of them as well and they do the same job

    • @joshoconnor9666
      @joshoconnor9666 Год назад +3

      Well the predator will trip and shur down if overloaded and the honda will drop down and compensate, protecting itself but not quitting the job either unless its seriously overloaded. The honda is better on gas, the honda outputs a smoother sinewave which is best for sensative electrontics like phones or laptops, the honda will also last you about the same as about 3 to 5 predators. The honda is going to resell for a decent price. Im sure there is probably a few more but i think that should do it

    While the test was the same for both, to give everybody a better DB rating, move the vehicle from directly behind their exhausts so sound doesn't bounce back.

    You DIDN’T hook up the GROUND WIRE!. 🤦🏻‍♂️🙂
    But other then that GREAT VIDEO. 😁

    • @aaronstestlab
      @aaronstestlab  3 года назад

      To be totally honest, I’ve never understood ground wires on portable generators. Unless you’re driving a ground rod 8 feet deep, what do they do?

    • @Hi-jj4jy
      @Hi-jj4jy 3 года назад +1

      @@aaronstestlab
      In this case: It would be the machines being the ground if something was to go wrong,otherwise it would be you touching something that becomes the ground. Example: If using welding equipment you have to Hook up the Ground clamp to the Piece your working with or Something that has a good Ground,otherwise it’s not going to work right or at all.

    I was just wondering doing some math how did you get 23anps 2700 wats out of a 16.6 anp 2000 wat generator without popping the 15 amp breaker not criticizing or anything I just curious

    • @Speedy99Q
      @Speedy99Q 6 месяцев назад +1

      its a 2200 watt honda and it has 20 amp breaker, Breakers will take more than there rated capacity for short amounts of time. My Fridge draws 28 amps at start up and its on a 15 amp breaker

    You pointed the heat gun toward the decibel meter when running on the Honda generator vs pointed it away from the decibel meter when running on the Predator.. proper experiment design is a discipline all its own, so it's not surprising.. just keep that in mind if doing comparison vids in the future.

    • @Speedy99Q
      @Speedy99Q 6 месяцев назад

      your right i just noticed this also. Also if you look at the numbers the honda was almost a decibel quieter at full load, even with the heat gun pointed at the sound meter
