As a northern transplant, lemme tell you: I've never felt more supported than when I was regularly the only customer in a Waffle House at 4am after the night shift. Those girls made me a fresh pot of decaf and talked with me until I was ready to roll myself out the door. It probably helped that I tipped like a queen. 🤣
But yeah, Waffle House might be a hot mess but it's a more supportive institution than a Lane Bryant bra. 💖

My Papaw and I used to go to Waffle House together. He liked the coffee and the mugs especially, since they were thick and held the heat really well.
We lost him in January, and I went to Waffle House in the dead of night to have a cup of coffee and a slice of chocolate pie for Papaw. And yeah, I cried. True Story, I’ve had 3 nieces happily work at WF.
Waffle House is THE place which feeds first responders in natural disasters. FEMA even has a code with them, so if you EVER see a Waffle House closed(especially if it’s chained) then get the heck out of dodge! They’ve been open through some hurricanes, but for the really bad ones, they chained and left, but are the first to come back.
So please don’t knock them that bad, especially down here in the deep gulf south, WH is critical to recovering from hurricanes, in more ways than one.

When I was in high school a group of friends and I went to Waffle House one day and were informed that they were out of hash browns, apparently the supply truck hadn't shown up. So we got up and decided to go to the other side of town to another Waffle House. We walked in the door and asked if they had hash browns, "Sorry, we're out." So we walked out of that one and decided to go to the other, other side of town to another Waffle House. We walked in the door and asked if they had hash browns and finally yes, they had hash browns. Kinda not true. I've kicked people out of my WH twice, once was when some drunk dude started threatening violence to my cook (you do NOT threaten the guy who signs my checks) and the second one was some coked up meth-head who got her food (in to-go boxes) and then was told to leave, and got violent with both me and the same cook. I did hear my favorite line I've ever heard a cop say that night though, Tasha (the meth-head) was like, "Well if I'm banned from here, I'm banned from Burger King (prattles off like ten other places), then where am I supposed to go??" The Sgt in charge: "That's our way of telling you to get the fuck out of our city." Me, the cook, and the two other cops there just bursted out laughing while the Sgt stared her down. The cops hung out and bs'd with us in the parking lot for a bit, before the Sgt leaned into his radio: "Sorry guys, she's down at the gas station now. Gotta go."
Now, I have walked in on some dude using a needle in our bathroom once. He was chill, though, so just, "Sorry about that..." and close the door. I still tell the story, because it's funny, and I don't respect him, but he didn't get kicked out or anything for it. I mean, afterall, when I go out back to smoke a blunt with a manager, my fellow waiter, and a customer, leaving the store empty... Can I really talk?

Nashville TN Waffle House 3AM on a Tuesday 2 Employees on duty a cook and an older lady taking orders-plus 2 young ladies and their male friend finishing their meal as me and my buddy walk in. They get into an argument over who has the best "attributes" they ask me and my friend Bill to act as judges. No police were summoned we gave our assessment everyone left happy, and the Waffle House crew just kept working.

I wouldn't be surprised. Especially if it was off Sidco or Harding. A few other areas also always have something going on. LOL

@@veronicaadair9004 me and my friend Bill had Tuesdays off so we would play darts and have a few beers on Monday night we had found a place near a lot of trucking places that served a full breakfast for 4 bucks a real dive but Bill and I are big guys and no one bothered us and we would go there after a night of drinks but for some reason we went to Waffle House that night/morning . I am pretty sure the girls were local “dancers” coming off a light Monday shift

I love this video but I can't help but think that this title is "What do people not from the south say in Waffle House" You better believed I can rattle off the toppings I want on my Hashbrowns faster than I could give you the names of the people in my family.

Their chocolate chip waffle will always and forever be my go to. Nothing like that hot waffle, chips thrown on top and slightly melted, butter in each hole, and a little bit of syrup. Before and after standard exams, finals, football games… good times
