I have strong opinions and won't hold back...I LOVE how Rachel's hair matches her sweater! Oh, and also, it is refreshing to see how "budget" or "original" whisk(e)y can be a tasty surprise. We poo-poo these blends sometimes and forget their place in our drinking adventures, as a solid whisk(e)y to have when we're out at a bar and just looking for a nice sipper as we converse with friends.

I've heard that before, that the predominant note in this (and any classic Irish whiskey) is shortbread cookie. When Jen mentioned Kit Kat, that confirmed it for me.

definitely under rated....a nice sipper.....and the price isnt too dear....thanks for your honest reviews! (sorry glenfiddiich...but you are not everyones cup of tea!)

Bushmills openly admit their Grain is from Middleton, as did Tullamore when I visited a few years ago. I do rate the Bushmills 16 and 21 very highly in my whisky journey, the problem is the entire core range is 40%. Haven't bought a bottle for ages although I'm tempted every time I'm in Travel Retail, (£70 for the 16yo at Gatwick a few weeks ago).
Lovely to meet you at the Fife Festival, hope you got a nice bottle of Cadrona for your efforts on the day!

I haven’t had the original in many years. Honestly, I don’t have any memory of how I felt about it back then. Surprised that you liked it. I guess I will pick up a bottle. As you said, it is definitely not going to hurt my wallet. Thanks.

I love your interpersonal dynamic with each other. I also love the closed caption kerfuffle, some of the auto translations are hilarious.

The first official license for Bushmills was granted in 1784. A license for Kilbeggan dated earlier in 1757.

Bushmills get their grain whiskey from Midleton distillery which they use for their blends . Also the part about 'oldest licenced distillery ' is true but cleverly worded marketing, the license was granted in 1608 but the distillery wasn't built until 1784 . They have been distilling non stop sense 1885 , only stop due to a fire and rebuild .
Kilbeggan distillery is the actual oldest ( 1757) , only a few years apart .

I tried the Bushmills 10 and 16, the standard Jameson in one evening. I preferred the Jameson's. I had some Oban 14 earlier and I preferred the Oban.

Somehow girls , I just remembered the lyrics of one of Judas Priest's songs(Judas Priest is an english band)-'"You don't have to be old to be wise"🤣

I've only tried their black bush, but to me i consider it in the "breakfast" category with the likes of Glendalough double barrel and Jameson.
I'm curious to try Tyrconnel, since it's only double distilled, to see if it has more bite. Unless y'all get to it first so I won't have to 😁

I don’t think you’re being rude about Glenflingit as we call it now. Just honest. Isn’t that what tasting reviews are about, and we would not be rude about you girls. You do a great job, and we like your whisky channel.

This might be one of those if you know you know answers but I gotta know. The way you pronounce Sláinte is different from anyone else that i have heard. Intentional or is it slang or maybe regional? Love the honest reviews and congratulations on your recent award.

Yes, shortbread cookie with pineapple, green apple, and lots of sharp spice especially from pot stilling. Not a big Bushmills fan because they tend to be too thin for me. I do believe they claim to be the oldest distillery.

As a Canadian with deep roots in Northern Ireland, I've wisely avoided this one and opted for Redbreast (the best), Tyrconnell, Writers' Tears, etc, instead. I do like the whisky's name-check in "Tom Traubert's Blues" by Tom Waits: "Old Bushmills I stagger..."

  • @pierreluna1654
    @pierreluna1654 Год назад +4

I tried Black bush, not bad at all but thin and quiet watery... I suppose the same thing for the original
But you are so enthousiast ! Strange...
    Try Jameson black barrel !!!

  • @xiamengbaby

I believe that Bushmills does not make pot still (malted and unmalted) whiskey. They produce single malts and blends (single malts and grain whiskies) similar to Scotland.
Bushmills sources grain whiskey from Middleton Distillery.

I used to really enjoy Bushmills years ago but I think my palate has moved on. The copious cask strength whiskies I've enjoyed has tilted my palate away from the 40 percenters. I did get a taste of the new Prohibition Recipe and that was notably better than the core range stuff. I generally like their flavor profile but I'm looking for something with more "oomf" to it these days. Come on Bushmills, give us some higher ABV expressions!

You have to have a bushmills, glenfiddich or jameson handy for when your non whisky drinking friends pop over and want a crack. Hide your good stuff at the back.

Jamesos basic is decent. I just tried their Black Barrel and that was quite good and I would highly recommend it for just a little extra in price.

I don't like Bushmills Original as well as their 10 y.o.and new releases of Black Bush (coz i usta drink the old release in the round cardboard tube with ordinary metal screw top, just like the Johny Walker has ). They are all flat and pretty watery stuff. There's nothing but toffee, caramel, and vanila in them and a wee bit of hint of sherry in "modern" Black Bush((((As to the old version of Black Bush, mentioned above-t'was perfect and tasty and heavy with sherry cask at that-really nice stuff!

When I taste Bushmilll my first time, was like a gin style.

    Dont like this whiskey...
Prefer Jameson if I can choose.
