Wiegraf is easily one of the most tragic characters in story telling in general. He put his life on the line and fought for Ivalice during the 50 years war, was forced into the streets along with the soldiers who fought under him, tries his best to fight for what he and his men are owed as well as better conditions for the common people, loses his friends along the way, his men are all killed or forced into hiding, and he loses his sister. With nothing left to lose, the Templars' offer seemed like a great opportunity to not only get vengeance for his sister, but resume his fight against the nobility, only to fall further and become a hollow vessel for Belias. So now everything this man has lost was sadly in vain...
Wiegraf is not one of the main enemies at the final moments of the game but he is a different story of tragic to what we see with ramza and delita. A knight dispossed of at end of war that wanted justice for his peers, tagged as a criminal, his sister killed by nobles and his partners going astray of his plan into a deathtrap. Revenge becomes his last burning fuel and sells his soul for another chance to avenge his sister
You are right although you could make an argument he was a final enemy for many players on their first playthrough of FFT lol. But all jokes aside yeah well Delita and Ramza was arguably tragic too. But I think Ramza truly got the better end of the deal persoanlly. I still love Wiegraf though
@@J7Jase I don't think we're going to get any, but it's still interesting to speculate on how Delita was approached by church (probably same as Wigraf), but how different his response was - agreeing on the surface but starting to play his own game, that eventually brought him to the throne.
@@J7Jase not only the princess, the Black Sheep Knights annihilation during the riot (off screen, through the Rumors section in Chapter 2) fits in perfectly for Delita to get into Goltana's ranks. Damn, this dude is as brilliant as one gets!
Wiegraf is probably my favourite character in FFT. This particular scene made me not only sympathize with him, but also hate Loffrey a lot. "Was not my intent to put salt on the fresh wound", sure. The bastard knew exactly what to say to a broken and desperate man to sway him on their side. I also love the narrative of this scene. It has been said countless times the the whole narrative of this game is incredible and this cutscene is a good example of that. Yeah same here. I thought this scene was great because in the original it didn't really link well with him joining the Church. He just came out of nowhere lol. Even though Matsuno didn't work on WOTL at all this was a good scene that connects it well so whoever did the additional side story stuff was fantastic. Np at all glad you enjoyed it!
I was just curious on if this was a mod for final fantasy tactics war of the Lions. Because I don't remember this in final fantasy tactics where the Lions
Thanks for commenting and no it isn't a mod. So this scene appears in Chapter 2 after the fight with Gaffgarion at the Gallows. Or if you can rewatch it in your Chronicle just look for "Vow For Vengeance"

I've always loved Wiegraf. I really wish there was a way to save him and add him to our party.

All Wiegraf wanted was equality =(
Also his pay and being recognized. Sucks that virtually all his soldiers too were practically wiped out as well
@@J7Jase I wish Wiegraf and his sister joined Ramza's party.

He was full of sorrow and regret and the Templar approached him precisely in time.

That one was heartbreaking
My favorite scene is when Agrias reunites with Ovelia.
Same I'm glad it was added though as it just made the story clearer. In the PSX we see him out of nowhere.
And yeah that was a great one. Solid choice
I’ve always liked the speech they use so fashion love it
It's good and I love these additional scenes in War of the Lions. Makes the story a lot more clear for certain parts
There are so many great characters in this story.
1000% agreed
Ah Wiegraf...from wanting equality to selling his soul to a demon just to hear the screaming howl of his victims....i had so much fun w/ this game
He didn't want to go out on his shield. But I still love him
I wonder how the church recruited Delita. He was around the same area, and with the same weak state of mind. Their circumstances are so alike!
Good question. I have no clue at all! But I'd love to see some explanation or backstory!
