Bisping said to Marc; "We could sit here and go over some funny old stories, but no one's interested in that...". Absolutely not true! Pretty sure everyone would love to hear the stories about the wild west of early UK MMA. Sounds bonkers. Great conversation, fellas. You always learn something when Marc's talking about MMA.
Yes, too many people quick to grab mobile phones theae days when they see an opportunity that will make them look like a good person. The real heroes go unnoticed. But yes, the truth of whether you're a good person or not only matters to you, IF people are bringing it into question. Facts don't care about feelings. And the fact remains with you in the truth realm. But in general. A good person is noticed as such. If one is a good person and they know it, but is questioned on that, then it doesn't matter. People are generally succumbed to the devil on their shoulders over the Angel on the other side. People are evil. It might not be extreme evil but however minor the evil its still evil. The opposite of good. Think before you commit an act of evil via a very negative comment.
He started one with Dan Hardy on the Dan Hardy/Full Reptile channel called "Listen!", but they only did a few episodes. They did it after the Usman/Covington fight when Colby was calling Marc a corrupt cheat, so Marc wanted to set the record straight. He's reffing events every week so probably doesn't have time...
Best interview yet dude! Great insight from Marc, who seems like an absolute gent. Like many other comments on here, i hope we get a part 2 that involves stories from both you guys from back in the day. Great stuff man.
This was one of my fav episodes. You need to have Marc back again. His explanations from a referees perspective were so informative & he explained his points so well.
I think since Anthony’s just left and gone MIA, felder and mark should go 50/50 co-hosts, both great guys and both have unique insight into fighting in all aspects, mark talks really well and breaks down things as fans we just don’t see, I even think many fighters would listen and hear perspectives they haven’t heard before. Great episode, my favourite one for a while 👏🏽
Michael , I think Marc as answered so much about how professional and how hard reffing the fights are , I respect him so much more after listening to the pod cast , what A great show Gents , need to get more refs on Michael wow ,
What an absolute blast. 2 guys that clearly know their craft. I love the UFC and all martial arts. Learned a lot about both sides of the game from you two. Respect to you both. Everything you have achieved has been earned in blood and more.
Read the room bisping, we ABSOLUTELY want the old stories with you and Marc, not only do we want those stories but Marc’s eyes lit up at talking about the old times rather than the repetitive “how did you get into refereeing”. Should definitely get him back on for another pod. Great episode.
This is perhaps the most professional, most informative and interesting interview that Bisping has ever treated us to. Its Mike's restraint that allowed Marc to dispense his wisdom: "Be a good person, don't waste time proving it" and Marc's genuinely wide-eyed delight at remembering what shall henceforth be called "the jeans incident." +1 to all the comments that we want to know more about the early days of British MMA. In fact, please mention to Marc that as a former exec at Netflix, I believe you don't have a book in you, have have a television show.
If you had to deal with the ego of athletes who's as heavy as a toddler with the aggression of a dog as big as someone's foot, you would find the need to assert dominance too.
Great show today Count. It's awesome that Marc was able to talk about his martial arts accolades so people realize just how good and knowledgeable he is.👍🏽
He's the best ref since I've been watching UFC. He has an excellent understanding of the line between letting fighters defend themselves and protecting them from real damage.
@meatrocket6979 Peterson helping train the next generation of referees, is he out there educating commissioners, trying to bring the sport into new demographics. Sorry didn't realise you are the #1 super fan maybe you should be in the HOF. WHOPPER
Goddard is a man of integrity. This is a great interview. I don’t know how anyone can rank another ref above him. As he said, and it’s been clear to me, he takes it very seriously, as he should. I don’t know if I’ve ever thought of him blowing a call… can’t really say that about the other refs. Herzog is good too.
What a great interview. You can tell his intentions are good and he really cares about the sport and doing a good job. Just moved him up in my book, I'd want him as my ref.
Excellent Video!!! Thankyou so much. Very Insightful. I would love to see more interviews, with the Refs. Mark is a ref I hold in high regard. I think that, More videos about the Judging, would be beneficial. There is frustration and controversy about a lot of the decisions. Thankyou:)
Bisping with the piss break 😂 great interview. And props to Marc for being so open publicly. He’s one of if not the best refs ever next to big John in my opinion
It's a very unrewarding job to be a referee in a sport with such a toxic (&betting) fanbase. But he's one of the best refs ever. He's fast, has knowledge, confidence, authority and protects concussed fighters. He should be proud instead of miserable.
It's like being a Keeper in cricket , a catcher in Baseball, or a goalie everywhere. If you do your job, people say nothing. If you do something spectacular, you might get a bit of temporary praise, if you make a bad decision, it scars your career.
Really enjoyed this. To big characters and great friends clearly. Cus of listened to as many stories as they were willing to tell. Wud definitely be up for reading a book by Goddard.
@28:00 Joey Beltram! Nice one Mike, 90s house music days coming out there! I always call Mike Beltram "Joey" every time I see his reffing. Energy Flash. Classic
21:30 how about not letting a fighter get a piece of glass out their toe. Instead you forced them to engage and ended the fight because they both agreed not to so he could get the shard of glass out of his foot that was not his fault. Hard zig.
Mike just seen clip of you as bare knuckle fighter glad it’s just a movie cause we know Bisping is the man love ya bro any of your fights could of gone your way but I sure wish you would have got the punch in before Henderson
I would have thought that after Bisping told Vitor that his God isn't real and then proceeded to lose his eye in the fight, that he might reconsider his faith. Come on Bisping! Give it another shot, find your way back to the Lord! You are one of my favorites! God bless!!
Great episode. At one point mark was saying how hes the first to know in his heart if he made a mistake and that he'll go back to the seminars and discus it. Honestly though with how prominent social media is, if after a bad call the ref comes onto social media and somewhat holds up his hands and says maybe i could've left it a second or too longer but i jumped in when i saw such and such. I think the fans would really appreciate that? But just like with the judges when a terrible call is made theres no discussion its just, onto the next. Thoughts?
just a suggestion mike but somehow arrange Dominic cruz to be your new Co host your ratings will skyrocket brother we need some good wholesome banter with a bit of edge in mma it's so dry for good coverage, please make it happen man :)

Goddard is a great talker, He needs to start a podcast . It would be a hit!
That is an awesome idea bro 😎 I’ll watch it for real fo real

Just seems like we don't get to hear much from the refs and he seems like an interesting dude with alot of great stories
N he could get judges n refs on 2 talk when they f k up. Great idea n free views if these judges grow a set
@@Johnnotdoe94 he did, with Dan Hardy...it wasn't! 😂

This was one of my fav episodes. You need to have Marc back again. His explanations from a referees perspective were so informative & he explained his points so well.
Superb!!! He needs to be a regular guest on Believe You Me
Marc deserved for this to be on the pod and not buried in the RUclips algorithm
This is getting more exposure than on the podcast
Marc is always a great guest on podcasts, his knowledge and passion for the sport really comes across, loads of respect for him as a ref.
Thanks for using your platform to give Marc an opportunity to speak on these ref topics
