These manufacturers need to quit chasing hp and torque numbers and spend their time on making better more reliable parts for them. For example, how an O2 sensor that can make it 100,000 miles
But how will I pull my 5th wheel house sized camper and everything we need to never leave the camper the entire trip? We like the outdoors, but like, outside our windows.
You will never get reliability out of a modern diesel truck unless you Delete the DEF system or if the government allows them to be built for consumers without that system. There’s a reason Goverment and Military use vehicles are exempt from the Def system and yet the consumer has to put up with that crap💀
2024 F250 XLT Tremor 7.3L gas. Dual battery/alt, roof marker lamps, bedliner, upfitter switches and more for only 59K. 3300# payload & 18000# towing. This is a good base vehicle to start with. Bought in Oct still has under 200 miles.
I ordered and 3500HD LT midnight edition with Duramax with all the options and came in 30 grand less than a comparable Ford. Go to GM order site and price out a LT Duramax Midnight with leather you will be shocked on how much lower the cost is.
Oh I see it wasn’t the breakfast. 😃 In 2023 I went with a GMC 3500 Duramax (on lot not an order). And yes, it was less money than a Ford or a RAM. I leave my breakfast order response for your other post. Just in case. 😃
“comparable” is a relative term. I often price out RAMs when truck shopping, and find I can get “comparable” models for half the price of Chevy or Ford, but everyone’s opinion of “comparable” can vary significantly.
@@Cloud30000you cannot get a ram Laramie for half the price of a Silverado ltz. You cant get a rebel half the price of a trail boss. What are you even talking about?
Not sure how there could be $30k difference between TRULY comparable trucks. I’m seeing gas ford lariats at around $70-$80k, that would mean the Chevy would be $40-50k? When I was seriously considering using a new HD truck, I built every one with options as close as possible. While I don’t remember exact #’s, I believe the msrp differences were within $5k or so.
Personally I'd put a nice ceramic coating on the heavy duty & maybe some ppf to retain some trade in value protecting the paint after all it's not an inexpensive truck at all keeping it looking nice & easy to clean will likely pay off long-term
While not ideal, 20” rims isn’t too bad if they fit 37” tires on it; still plenty of rubber at that size. Anything smaller and 18” (or smaller) rims become mandatory to be able to have enough rubber to deflate it for harder trails. The brakes make it a little more challenging to get 18” rims to fit, but other trucks like the 5th gen RAM 1500 use 18” rims with oversized brakes so their are plenty of rims that will fit if they pay attention when shopping.
I finally did it. I retired my 08 tundra. I pick up the 25 chevy silverado 2500hd duramax custom. So my more truck than my tundra. I just hope it holds up like the tundra.
I also sold my 2008 tundra witch was the best truck l ever owned.Alot has changed on the 1500 trucks segment(E.P.A regulations) I went with 2024 2500hd gmc duramax the drive train seem pretty solid, have had the truck for a year. For the sake of the electronics l got a 7 year 125000 warranty threw the bank for a reasonable price.
It's better to have it & not need it daily than it is to really need it on days you do & not have it is how to help European friends understand better respectfully Andre & if they watch TFL it proves it
The Trail Boss is nothing more than an appearance package. Essentially the same as my 2024 Z71 with the Z71 Sport Edition package. My truck came with the factory 20’s and K03’s. Option price for the tire upgrade was $295. My truck thankfully doesn’t have the roof marker lights, another place for leaks.
Hey TFL, the new 2025 Ford F-150 Tremor has the winch option and it costs whopping $9,220. Yes, NINE.22 GRAND. It is not a package. It's just an winch option. Can you guys find out and tell us viewers why?
I think it requires a special bumper, which is where the majority of the cost comes from. Much cheaper to have an aftermarket winch and bumper installed, plus you have the original bumper to put back on when you sell the truck so you can put the winch on the next truck too.
Because Ford thinks they can. That’s why. Actually, it’s even worse than $9k. It’s TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS. Because you need the Tremor High package to add the winch, not just the plain vanilla Tremor package. The Tremor High is $11k. So to add the factory winch it’s $20k.
Z71 & trail boss is like fx4 Ford where the zr2 is more like the tremor package at least that's how I've always thought of it though things have changed a bit recently
I’ve had a 2 door truck for 20 years. My next vehicle will be an older suburban. Essentially a truck with a camper shell, but also seats for family. I would go rent a trailer for the rarer cases I need to haul something bigger.
The ram definitely needs to be updated but it doesnt necessarily need to be bigger, a lot of guys like the Ram 2500 because its shorter and easier to maneuver in tight parking lots. Fords are just too expensive, 90k and it didnt even have a bedliner is just ridiculous.
Reliability has been forsaken, and with a lack of knowledgeable technicians to service new vehicles, some new owners go for months without their vehicles. I’m grateful to God for my 25-year-old Chevy Suburban 1500 w/ 5.3L V8 4x4. 284,434 on the clock and still going strong. Vanity is a painful bedfellow…
Trail Boss is just wheels and Z71 sport package.....doesnt offer anything different for offroad than a Z71...... ZR2 would have been better option for offroad but also more expensive 100% better to have more truck than you need vs barely enough.....easier on the vehicle, for the driver, its safer, and overall just going to be a better experience purchased a 24 SLT 2500 with Duramax a month or so ago and sell price was 73k.....sticker was 81k....you can for sure negotiate on HD right now.....seen Denalis for 9k off on 24 models as well
Id put some better shocks maybe billstiens & rock rails as it seems like nearly everyone on RUclips do these 2 mods on trail bosses across the board & seem very pleased after
@atg1338 it has 35s I believe & kings are great but they're using it as a work truck & likely won't spend that kind of money however I'd do the same on most trucks myself
I’m not sure why anyone would want 20” rims I personally can’t stand anything above 18, and would prefer it to be a 17🤷♂️ even all these midsize SUVs coming with 21s and 22s drive me insane. “Styling” options like that should stay in the southern states that never see snow.👌
It is interesting that Chevy brought Trail Boss to the 2500 when they had the ZR2. I bought a gas ZR2 January and love it. I don’t tow enough to need the diesel. Looked at Ford Tremor as well. Chevy was on the lot and a little cheaper but only 400 kw in the bed.
Andre. Neighbor has V8 tundra that is older like yours. Best change timing belt 10,000 miles before it is due and change oil very often. Just cost neighbor nearly $10,000 to replace the V8 engine!
I wish you guys would address real prices which I’m not sure I can find easily. I’m seeing nicely equipped Laramie ram 2500’s for 65-70 on car gurus but I don’t know if those are real prices??? That’s with the diesel
When truck guys sitting around and say out loud in unison the torque number of the high output Ford Powerstroke engine. 0:20:00 It’s kind of endearing. 😃
It’s one of the biggest talking points with HD trucks, so they are all drooling over it. I’m actually surprised Roman didn’t go for it, but I believe he doesn’t intend to drive it often and only spends big on vehicles he plans on allocating primarily to himself instead of the rest of the team.
Chevrolet started the longer short bed and ford copied, just like the bumper step and the bed step and camera views and rear view camera mirror and all wheel drive
That GM 2500 looked so small inside the cab compared to the Ford. Overall, every diesel engine is complete crap! They suck on their own exhaust and destroy themselves prematurely. I’d NEVER own the current iteration of diesel engines!!!
@Firetruck thanks for the information are you gonna put different wheels on the Chevy and go to an 18 inch wheel or 17 inch wheel did the Chevy come with a 20 inch wheel. Just curious if you are gonna change that or not.
Powerstroke is an engine, not a truck. It’s also extremely heavy, so it’s terrible for the main purpose of the Power Wagon (Off Road use). Powerstroke to tow, Power wagon to crawl. You can rock crawl with almost any engine, as the important part is the low\granny gear able to multiply the torque to high values at very low speeds. If you want to drive the same vehicle on the highway afterwards, that’s a different story, but even then you don’t need anything near as powerful as a Powerstroke just to reach highway speeds on a truck that isn’t towing, even with larger tires mounted, and a truck outfitted to rock crawl well is not going to tow heavy trailers well on the highway no matter what engine it has.

It’s also nice to have a full-size truck in Germany. I've been driving my RAM 1500 for 14 years now and don't want to be without it anymore.
Kase and Andre holding down the TFL-fort during the Thanksgiving weekend, love to see it!
lol, they pre-record these long before the holiday and use the magic of scheduled releases to make it look like they work through the weekend 😂
Thank you for watching, listening, and the kind words. Hope you had a very Happy thanksgiving.

Awesome truck and good deal.
Did not know they brought back the Tremor in XLT trim. That’s awesome.

I won’t listen to the oil people. I change my oil every 5k. No exceptions. Never had an engine problem in my life of nearly 60 years.
Really enjoyed these 2 together
Today I've spotted 2025 Ram HD trucks in transport in Texas heading to dealerships

$30k apples to apples? No Way.
I purchased a 2024 HD2500 ZR2 6.6 gas in September. So far so good. Does not burn oil and no transmission issues. I paid 77k.
Thank you for letting us know. Keep us in the loop.
77k for a gas truck wow
Good luck!

The Chevy was the best option and best deal. Good decision but only downfall was it should have 18" wheel's. Time for mods.

Chy-na Motors
Spot on with it needing 18” wheels
You can get the Chevrolet with 18. Inch rims
Don’t spend too much on after market parts coz it’s going back to the dealer soon

I would never buy a Gm full size truck until they stop coating the frames with that terrible wax that peels off. 👎
I wouldn't even consider a Ford, until they replace the CP4 fuel pump.
RAS road active suspension doesn't hurt at all on towing vehicles especially coupled with upgraded shocks
The Trail Boss trim should have been named the Straw Boss. I think the Chevy will be a good truck and does offer value compared to the Ford price.

John, I ordered ham and bacon with two eggs sunny side up. Why did you ask?
I ordered some Whataburger taquitos for breakfast. I’m good with my decision.
Never tried the taquitos. How were they?
Why didn’t you compare the ZR2 to the tremor? Trail boss is just cosmetic!
There were no ZR2 HD trucks available for us to look at when we went shopping.
Trailboss competes against ford FX4

Tremor competes against Chevy ZR2 HD not trail boss.

Does the Super Duty Ford have more payload then the Chevy?
In the video they did of the purchase, payloads were within a couple hundred pounds of each other. I don’t remember which one was higher.
@jeffs2809 thanks I have to watch the video again I could be wrong but I thought the Ford had more payload. Thank you for the information.

They both had sad payload numbers, my old F-150 has the same payload numbers, you can do much better than that in a HD truck.
Chevrolet is the best choice for HD trucks, more power and towing capability than Ram and less money, more value than Ford.
