    I remember the earlier demo and it seems not much has changed. The map update is a good idea and will certainly create more immersion, but the main 2 challenges remain...
    1. pathfinding is below par (good to know that the devs are fully aware)
    2. balancing seems off. You're not really building a base, developing and improving, it's just a mad race every day to find enough food and ammo to survive one more day.
    Yeah, I know it's the zombie apocalypse and it's not supposed to be a walk in the park, but I think that in order to keep players interested, they need to feel a certain sense of progress and achievement beyond mere surviving one more day.

    • @banaman7746

      There was this game I played a while back galled rebuild 3: gangs of deadville, with the premise you are reclaiming the city from zombies by slowly expanding your base, I think they really wouldn't be amiss to use some of the ideas from it... like using the walls to "capture" territory to make it into a "safe zone" that zombies would need to breach a wall to get through.

    • @DFero13
      @DFero13 Год назад +12

      To 2. It is my Main Problem with Project Zomboid. It has too little Progress and is lifeless (it has no NPCs, Trading, Quests and Story).
      At least the Character are "trainable", but it is so time and resource intensive that you only increase Death Rate instead to decrease it.
      Difficulty and Boringness is truly over realistic, but the rewarding Mechanics are Lackluster. But the Zombies can spawn unrealistically endless and out of nowhere... you can have Max crafting Skills and the best Materials to build Walls and Bases, but any single Random Zombie can destroy Everything with his Bare Hands without taking Damage, while you are on a Supply Run.
      It is impossible to build any real Safe Zone and Zombie free Zone. You have finite Resources and Time in a World of Infinite Zombie, all that to be.... realistic???
      At this Point i lost all Motivation to keep playing.
      Therefore dont repeat their Mistake, be aware of the necessary Balance of Difficulty and Reward.

    • @SoulWhite
      @SoulWhite Год назад +10

      @@DFero13 I wholeheartedly agree with you. The appeal of a zombie apocalypse is to rebuild, that's the hook. Survival is a short leash that you should start with in order to create the sense of value for the world objects. After that you should be able to control most aspects of your world.

    This game is almost amazing!
    Like, with some better UI and AI it could be amazing. When you take over any building it should establish a trade line between them and any squad should be able to reload there.
    People should be a resource that can be gained and lost. I think taking buildings should somewhat defend them as long as they are manned and manning and equipping should be a menu thing you can bring up. The more people at a location the more defended it is, but the worse the spreading outbreak will be if it taken over. So if you lose a building with a lot of people, you can get snowballed as the disease spreads and grows.
    This game is close to really being fun... A little more like a command and conquer, but inkeeping with the pace, theme, and focus of the concept game.
    Also it would be great if you could demo buildings for resources and not just trees. This way you could build out of a city as well?

So I feel like the area where I live could be a really good zone to play this in due to the abundance of both woodland and farmland, while also being good for scavenging with a city being located very close as well.

    We seem to be approaching trend that I really hope sticks with Zombie games where it's not just about either escaping the zombies or just scraping by. But instead actually fighting back and taking back infected cities. I've only seen a couple of indie games try this but I really want to have a zombie game where the main purpose is to clear a city of infected/have a story of mankind re-claiming territory. This game looks to have something of that, but it still goes back to scraping just enough to get by routine we're all very familiar with. Still, good looking concept. Will keep an eye on this.

It's like the city was designed around the philosophy of "How can we ensure someone will burn out their transmission and brakes fail in the most minimal amount of time?" There are cities in WV that have the same problem, but, usually the areas that have those extreme hills are residential areas. Granted, I wish more cities would have a public transportation system that's as developed too. Like, NYC could DEFINITELY use a transport system like that. Last I visited NYC it's not that they didn't have transport options, it's just that it wasn't to the same level of the BART.

    It would be cool of they used cenus statistics for zombie population. North America has a population of slightly over 600mil. South America slightly over 430mil. So that's just over 1billion people when adjusted for survivors and the idea that someone would have killed some zombies. Now obviously not all zombies would be adults ( but I dont wanna fight zombie babies) and they wouldn't realistically all concentrate on one selected town or city. But it would be a great concept For continents, islands, and etc to limit the amount of zombies. The America's has one billion zombies max. Australia has 25 million. Etc.
    Or be more specific to a city.
    Normally I wouldn't think of that kind of limitation, but with the choose tour town thing, it could stand out.

    So… what happens if you decide to settle in like, the Rubicon? Or some other unpopulated region like the Cascades? Or even within a National Park?
    Does the game just fail then? There wouldn’t be any zombies because there weren’t any humans living there, but there also wouldn’t be any buildings either.

    What a beautifully rendered map! If you zoom in enough, can you see the piles of human feces, dirty needles, and homeless encampments? Keep voting for your own destruction, California! LOL

    THe game should DEFINITELY implement a guaranteed loot per XX amount of space function. otherwise clearing the large building is a massive waste of time. Unless they are about 3x as likely to have rare loot or minimum of a tier better.
    Along with maybe a flashing, slowly, contrasting color to help show which scavenger team is idle. Which just falls under qol/polish updates.

    Probably would be nice if they added something like laws for themself like frostpunk where they ration their food or civilians can now scavenge too but it would cause discontent or something it would be easier and harder to play but also more fun

    seems like there is a built in hardness by where you start. california would be impossible, while montana would be easy mode, every house a new firearm and 8k ammo
