In South Africa, the Zulus, a very virile and militant people - a nation akin to the Qureish of pre- Islamic Arabia - have given a name to God Almighty - uMVELINQANGI. This word when properly articulated in its own dialect, sounds identical to the Arabic word Walla-hu-gani, meaning - "And Allah is Rich" (Bounteous). It also sounds like "Allegany" of the Red Indians of North America (Remember their ALLEGANY mountain). The origin or real meaning of the word "Allegany," is not commonly known to the American people. But ask any Zulu as to who or what this uMvelinqangi is and he will surely explain to you in Zulu: HAWU UMNIMZANI! UYENA, UMOYA OINGCWELE. It is to the glory of the African nations that though they had no written languages, and hence no written records, therefore not being able to recount the names of their respective prophets, yet not a single one of the tribes ever stooped down to worshipping idols or images of either of men or animals, until the White man first introduced his religion and gave the African his anthropomorphic concept of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost, and brought the African down to bowing before the statues of Jesus, Mary, St. Joseph, St. Christopher and so on. Out of the dozens of African tribes inhabiting this part of the world, not a single one of them ever made "umfanegisos" (images) of their God. Yet they were capable of carving out of wood, elephants and lions, and reproducing men and women also, in clay. Besides, the Zulus also had some knowledge of metallurgy. When questioned an old Zulu as to the reason, why the Africans did not make umfanegisos of their Gods, he replied, "How could we make images of Him (God Almighty) when we know that He is not like a man, He is not like a monkey, or an elephant or a snake: He is not like anything we can think of or imagine. He is a pure and Holy Spirit." LIKE THE ARABS This term, uMVELINQANGI, though well known to the Zulus, was not commonly used. Again they were like the pagan Qureish of Pre-Islamic Arabia who knew the name Allah, but passed Him by, because they felt that He was too High, too Pure, too Holy to be approached, so they went for their substitutary and imaginary gods - their Al-Lats, AI-Uzzas and Al-Manats and a hundred besides. The Zulus too would not call upon uMvelinqangi directly, but he was better than the Arab of the Ayyam-ul-jahiliyya (days of ignorance), because he did not go after false gods; he only invoked the spirits of his ancestors to intercede with uMvelinqangi on his behalf, exactly as the Catholics do in invoking the Virgin Mary and the Saints. The more common term used by the Zulus for their God is uNKULUNKULU which literally means - the Greatest of the Great or the Mightiest of the Mighty (Almighty). More colloquially when taking oath, they would exclaim "iNkosi phe-Zulu" meaning - the Lord Above (knows), or the God in Heaven (knows), or Heaven knows, that I am speaking the truth. The word "zulu" in the language of the Zulu literally means High Heaven, and they consider themselves to be superior to the numerous other tribes of Southern Africa, being in this respect like the Qureish among the dwellers of the desert before Islam.

My father told us many times that we are from KwaZulu Natal. More importantly, I am really inspired to listen to your powerful speech your Majesty and the wisdom which God has breathed into your spirit to listen from Him for guidance. Yes our young people are being destroyed and we need God's wisdom to rescue them from the claws of the evil one. Thank you so much our king.

He is a leader who is for the people and views all people from whatever walks of life, religion, culture as his people. I never knew this, I am blown away. Great leadership.
His uniform and attire is excellent. I find it odd that some people are still surprised that in this day an age, African clothing can look rich and worthy for royalty to wear. The journey to the 21st century was not imagined by movies.
Indeed the level of Wisdom is just amazing, not many people know that you can actually believe in Jesus Christ and yet upholding good African cultural values. May the King's soul rest in peace.
Leave him alone Guyz. King is inside not on.attire. All I can say he still a King and he answered wisely. The talk, wise, actions and he is humble 🙌🙌🙌🙌👑.
Sadly we lost him during Covid, and there is much interference in the process of appointing a successor. We might end up with a less wise person who is acceptable to certain entities that would prefer a weaker Zulu nation.
It didn't take long for us to come back to the same interview sending condolences, you've done your purpose on earth KING especially to the Zulus, may your soul continue to rest in eternal peace
@Genghis Khan Islam is same as Christianity, it's just using a different language. Judaism, Christianity and Islam are the same, they are called Abrahamic Religions, they all believe in Jesus. I would like us as Black Africans to go back and learn exactly how was it like before this Abrahamic Religions.
@@YatzarEL-17 "The Quran mentions the names of numerous figures considered prophets in Islam, including Adam, Noah , Abraham , Moses and Jesus, among others." "The common Christian beliefs of Incarnation , Trinity , and the resurrection of Jesus are not accepted by Judaism or Islam" Islam is one of the Abrahamic Religions, I think you should go do more research before you get annoyed by the truth. All this religions don't have the best interest for us Black people at heart is what I'm stating, Black African men and women should drop this religions and go back to what made us great before any religion came to existence, we are spiritual beings. That's the truth you can never deny!!!!

Read about the last queen of Ghana Yaa Asantewa. What a great women.Took over 1,000 British troops to take her down. She too lived in the1800s and the colonizers banished her out of her own land.I believe she died in 1922.
It would be more accurate to say that the chief called "Zulu" founded the Zulu clan rather than the Zulu nation. They were one of hundreds of such clans in that region who shared the same language and culture. It was his descendent Shaka who united these clans into one nation which then took its name from that clan.
Gad was one of Jacob's sons one of the 12 Tribes of the original people the Hebrews or the True Israelites Yah's chosen people Moses lead them out of Egypt to return to Jerusalem!
This King is confused. The history that he is 'reminding' his people of is a history that was r\written by the colonists. He speaks of reviving a culture that was near extinction after the British invasion, yet he is dressed in European uniform. He is dining in western styled opulence--house, cars, etc. Secondly, he refers to God, and Jesus Christ as the son, so he speaks to 'God' through Jesus Christ, whereas, the Nguni people have always maintained their relations with their ancestors. His own Kingdom is premised on ancestral heritage. Lastly, there are so many Kingdoms in the Zulu ethnic group whose Kingdoms have been decimated by the politics of the imperialists. He is in actual fact, a creation of the imperialists.
African Renaissance I agree with what you pointing at as the confusion of a king dressed in, worshiping, and a product of Europeans. What can pane Africans do in a modern world created by Europeans, how can they find their voice in this current world? Should pane Africans insist on living in a Stone Age world that no longer seem to even fit in the climatic changes that the world have gone through? Or is there an equitable solution in which we remain true to cultural values even when dressed in European suites like our kind here?
Maybe we should understand that culture is dynamic and there are some aspects of culture that are not compatible with modern day life. Here you are and I want to assume you are African writing in English instead of Zulu or some other indigenous languages. But how do you separate language and culture?
Barry White I wouldn't separate culture from language. I write in English because the iPhone I'm using will keep on autocorrecting me if I write in SiSwati (besides, unlike Zulu, my native language is not yet on the google dictionary). I am excited about the dynamism of culture and some impacts of globalisation, but I would never want to give up all that is unique to my culture simply for the western culture to infiltrate Africa for a purpose that has no significance to improving African lives. But I will give up anything that doesn't add value to African lives 🙂
Colonial influence... His father maybe paid respect to someone... Usually how that happens ... But in this case it was purely done so you can fit your tongue around his name without making a fool of yourself... Again it is all about respect...
I found goodness and a pure heart to this leader i salute people who will put God first above all.. And the wisdom follows and men will follow thier leader.. God bless you president goodwill and may tje Lord thy God extend his hands always to your people..
Yeah, dress up like its 200 years ago???gtfoh, hows he supposed to deal with world leaders in a loincloth dumbass...yall want him to look like Eddie Murphy from coming to America
@amy benje the same reason people dont ride horses down the middle of the busy highway; progress, evolution. Think about what impression it would make if someone shows up dressed as a *tribal* leader in a world of modern issues and politics? They would be dismissed as a sentimental antiquated fool!
@Red Pill Man what about the Africans that wear the wigs to look like colonial masters from the 1700s.... All Afrikans throughout the diaspora are sick and the illness is tied directly into loving european ways more than Afrikan ways.
Growing up in South Africa, I could never understand the strange relationship between the Boer and the Zulu. Eventually I found that the mutual respect of one warrior to another. However, the relationships below shows a much deeper appreciation for each other. Mpande kaSenzangakhona, Mpande (1798-1872) was monarch of the Zulu Kingdom from 1840 to 1872, making him the longest reigning Zulu king. He was a half-brother of Sigujana, Shaka and Dingane, who both preceded him as kings of the Zulu. He came to power after overthrowing Dingane in 1840. Mpande came to prominence when Dingane suffered a catastrophic disaster at the Battle of Blood River in December 1838. His defeat at the hands of the Boers led to unrest, which Dingane attempted to control by eliminating potential successors such as Mpande. In September 1839 Mpande defied his brother, who demanded his support in a war against the Swazi people. Fearing he would be killed if he joined Dingane, Mpande instead led thousands of Zulus into the Boer republic of Natalia. The Boers led by Andries Pretorius and Gert Rudolph decided to support Mpande, hoping to gain concessions if he could oust Dingane. In January 1840 Mpande's army led by Nongalaza defeated Dingane at the Battle of Maqongqo. Mpande arrived shortly after with Pretorious' force of Boers, and was proclaimed king. Dinuzulu kaCetshwayo (1868 - 18 October 1913, commonly misspelled Dinizulu) was the king of the Zulu nation from 20 May 1884 until his death in 1913. He succeeded his father Cetshwayo, who was the last king of the Zulus to be officially recognized as such by the British. Zululand had been broken up into 13 smaller territories by the British after the Anglo-Zulu War, and Cetshwayo, and subsequently Dinuzulu, administered one of them. The British later realized the futility of breaking up Zululand into the territories and restored Cetshwayo as paramount leader of the territories. However, they left one of Cetshwayo's sons, Usibepu (Zibhebhu), alone with his lands intact. On 22 July 1883, Usibepu attacked Cetshwayo's new kraal in Ulundi, wounding the king and causing him to flee. To contest the succession, Dinuzulu first appealed to the British, but had no response. He then offered rewards of land to Boer farmers of the Vryheid and Utrecht districts, to come and fight on his side and restore the Zulu Kingdom. In 1884 a group of Boer farmers from the districts of Utrecht and Vryheid undertook to help restore order, in return for land for the formation of an independent republic with access to the sea. Led by General Louis Botha, they formed Dinuzulu's Volunteers and after several clashes with Zibhebhu, defeated him at the Battle of Ghost Mountain (also known as the Battle of Tshaneni) on 5 June 1884. The Nieuwe Republiek, established in northern Natal on land awarded to Boers by Dinuzulu, was recognized by Germany and Portugal. It was later incorporated on its request by the ZAR because of financial problems, after the British annexed the coastal plains from the Thuhela river (Tugela) northwards in order to prevent the Boers from building a harbor. After considerable dispute in a Natal arbitration court, Britain eventually recognized the New Republic, but reduced in size after annexation of the coastal plains by Britain and deprived of its claims to St Lucia for a harbor. The Niewe Republiek was incorporated on its own request with the Zuid Afrikaanse Republiek in 1888. Stability in the Zulu kingdom continued until the British annexed the Zuid Afrikaanse Republiek in 1899. In 1890 Dinuzulu was captured by the British and exiled to the island of Saint Helena for seven years, for leading a Zulu army against the British due to annexation of the coastal plains of Zululand. In 1906 the so-called Bambatha rebellion broke out. After the rebellion had been put down, Dinuzulu was accused of giving orders to Bambatha to start the rebellion and was put on trial for treason. Although he steadfastly protested his innocence, he was found guilty and sentenced to four years imprisonment in March, 1908. Two years later an old friend of his, General Louis Botha, became Prime Minister of the Union of South Africa. Botha ordered that Dinuzulu be released and transported to the farm Uitkyk in the Transvaal, where he died in 1913 at the age of 44 or 45. He was succeeded by his son Solomon kaDinuzulu the father of King Goodwill Zwelitini. You may not know this, but President Ramaphosa indicated in 2018 that the government will confiscate land without compensation. This includes the lands belonging to the Zulu King. We, the Boers, stand by you King of the Zulus, as we have done in the past.

I am overwhelmed to watch this video for the first time in 2020. Long live your Majesty our king. I am one of the Zulus scattered around the world.

A great interview, and beautiful insights shared by de king. I am an Igbo, and must say that this interview changed my perception of de king for de better, cos he had been painted negatively by de media in de past especially after de 2015 xenophobic attacks, but here I see a king that is understanding, tolerant and open for dialogue. May God grant you more wisdom and strength Your Majesty.

What a gift to the Zulu people, a wise king...such an honor to hear him in this interview.
The Zulu people should be grateful to God for a sound, intelligent, God fearing, respectable, and loving ruler. He loves his people so very much.

It would be more accurate to say that the chief called "Zulu" founded the Zulu clan rather than the Zulu nation. They were one of hundreds of such clans in that region who shared the same language and culture. It was his descendent Shaka who united these clans into one nation which then took its name from that clan.
Shaka ZUlu united hte various ZUlu clans into one powerful Warriror nation which even defeated the British in Isandlwana (little hand in Zulu BTW)

He is in actual fact, a creation of the imperialists.
well said! that's the reality
African Renaissance that is not a European uniform thats how Ethiopian kings dressed.
Guys I saw him literally at gateway with body guards it was amazing!!!!
A king with a english name ! can you imagine the queen in uk with xhosa name?
Colonial influence... His father maybe paid respect to someone... Usually how that happens ... But in this case it was purely done so you can fit your tongue around his name without making a fool of yourself... Again it is all about respect...
What a humble king.

Africans don't need kings. Wherever there are kings or monarchs, there are slaves also. You may call them serfs, but it is slavery by another name.
The lack of emphasis on history it's an an action that does the sign to separate you
Growing up in South Africa, I could never understand the strange relationship between the Boer and the Zulu.
