The idiot ball can be a frustrating enough trope when even just one character is forced to carry it... this episode forced THREE characters to carry it and so deserves triple the sins score.
I love these videos because you know when to consider the difference between “I’ll allow it, we can accept silliness” and “this makes no sense”, so it comes off as a fairly well balanced review even when technically focusing on only the faults
I have one more sin. It's about Rarity's cartoonish reason. She says she's afraid that people will stop buying her stuff, but earlier she actually kicked customers out to take over her sister's school project. But I wouldn't have remembered it if it weren't for good old DWK: ruclips.net/video/4Otw_fuXvms/видео.html
5:25 Well no, she said "Derby racers to the starting line" four times, but she did only say "Derby racers to the starting line, derby racers to the starting line!" twice
I like how you don't pretend that Friendship is Magic is an intricately consistent show meant to be taken deadly seriously, unlike a lot of TV Tropes editors.
@@Khadi-C Well that's the problem when you got hundreds of people trying to shoe-horn as much tropes as possible so they can feel like genius of how fictions work. And this is comming from a TV Tropes editor.
3:42 good on applebloom for not needlessly pointing out that dash isn’t actually scootaloo’s sister-but it’s still a sin because it proves that sweetie belle did it on purpose
4:36 Whoever designed that track clearly wanted everypony to get hurt. Seriously, I've played some Mario Kart games and even their tracks weren't anything like this (then again, the entire episode was so stupid and cliched that I screamed on first viewing, no joke. I actually did scream in anger)
This one is more frustrating cause the idea does work, but they just had to shove those conflict balls a bit too deeply down the adults throats. If they had toned down those three it could have worked well enough.
Or better yet had Sweetie Belle gone with Applejack, Apple Bloom with Rainbow Dash, and Scootaloo with Rarity, we could've avoided this plot altogether.
The CMCs were really cute with their enthusiasm about the different categories. Just look at Sweetie Belle at 1:31. That's adorable! The sin is that the adults' behavior was so off-putting that I forgot about that cute detail entirely until now.
Sweetie Belle was probably exceptionally hard-headed in this episode because her green helmet momentarily glitched and fused with Apple Bloom's blue helmet.
The fact that they made it seem like the CMC didn't actually say anything by having them say "it can be harder to speak up to older ponies" is just stupid. The lesson may have hit a bit more of they'd said "we did! You ignored us so we gave up!" Because then it'd be a lesson about listening to others and not "speaking up"
To be honest this isn't really one of my favorite CMC episodes, i especially didn't like how AJ,RD and Rarity acted either they mostly only focused on what they wanted in building a cart instead of listening to the CMC's, but Derby Racers became one of my favorite mlp songs and Cheerilee looked gorgeous in that cheerleader outfit!
You could say the same for most of Spike episodes. It just seems that Hasbro hated Spike and just kept giving him bad-writted episodes most of the time. I know he was a baby dragon and all, but he matured enough to learned from his mistakes.
On the contrary the fact that they don't listen to them is one of the things I actually *like* about this episode lol. I will admit that with everything the older sisters have been through and the lessons they've learned up to this point, it doesn't make since for them to not listen to them and is out of character for them to only care about what they want for themselves. I will say RD not listening to Scootaloo DOES at least fit Rainbow Dash's egotistical personality though; especially because she wanted to win the race because of wanting to make up for when she was a filly herself.
@@hiccy6927 Spike would have avoided all this terrible treatment he's been given by having the writers make him stay back in Canterlot with Princess_Celestia where he wouldn't be involved with whatever Twilight Sparkle and her friends are doing
Agree with you about it being a stupid episode, especially since it's S6. Maybe if it were a S1 episode and more consistent and actually made sense it could've been a great episode. I definitely saw potential in it the first time watching
Has no one mentioned the mystery colt thats with derpy??? As far as I know I’ve never seen him before this episode or after, and hes not a generic bg pony either? He has a unique main and tail style as well as a unique cutie mark (which seems to be a starburst or possibly even a popped bubble)
This episode needs more sins starting with: "This episode exists," and should be awarded 100 sins for that single offense let alone the rest you came up with. This episode is that bad in my opinion.
I know that they're just fillies and probably wouldn't be able to build the carts on their own, but all the same, this episode illustrates one of my favorite sayings: 'If you want something done right, best to do it yourself'
Having grown up and faced ageism and not being taken seriously (as a child and teenager) this episode really stung. It was a real backhanded slap when they tried to force the “you should have spoken up” message when that’s exactly what the CMC did. It’s almost as if the writers THEMSELVES weren’t paying attention to the CMC.
I actually like this episode and i not suprise of how the CMC and their sister behave this way. The CMC already got their cutie mark, so i kind off not mad that much when they want to go off from their talent like in season 1 but their sister behave how we would say to the CMC how their should get their cutie mark. So, i can see the parell of this epsiode with the past
I can say the episode is a controversial episode for me, I don’t know how could someone say this episode equal bad like Applelosa Most Wanted which both episodes are not even close comparision level of bad; not as bad as when that reviewer start ranting every Starlight episodes in his worst list. Tell the truth, none of the episode from Season 6 & 7 went into my worst list.

I still think it’s funny, but I just wanted to point out that the swan boat toy is actually based on the swan boat from “the gift of maud pie.” That’s why pinkie pie came with the boat and there was a Maud pie cardboard cutout
The idiot ball can be a frustrating enough trope when even just one character is forced to carry it... this episode forced THREE characters to carry it and so deserves triple the sins score.

This episode produced one of my favorite DWK quotes.
And the adults be like:
- gotta go fast
- gotta be fabulous
- apples, apples, apples!
I can hear this comment.
I hear this.
Why you got to go and bring up the past? 😢

I encountered a Porsche GT3 in my hometown actually. I was so happy encountering an race car in my life

Can't believe next year's CinemareSins video will consist of only Season 6 episodes just like this year, and it'll be 01/01/23 when Season 7 begins.
You know what they say. "New year, new me." Or in this case, "New year, new season."
Man I hated how OOC this episode made AJ, RD, and Rarity. It deserved the sin treatment XD
Also Hasbro joke was perfectly timed haha
I dislike the episode but like the video said, Rarity’s motive was appropriately cartoonishly silly.
Yeah, this episode sucked.

Yeah, and Mario Kart lets babies race through airports, underwater and even outer space with no protection. And no one ever gets hurt.
Discord stop snickering.
Yeah GameCube Luigi Circuit is the only one even close and it's designed like that to purposefully cause chaos.
AJ: And who would want to redesign something that's already perfect
