Every single family has made it quite clear that you are not supposed to share anything on social media relating to your foster children. I don't know the law itself, but I do know, from what they have all said across the board, in my experience with so many of these families, it's never done, and shouldn't be done because it can jeopardize your right to being a foster parent.

So many people use the foster system as a temp babysitting thing or as a way to play house and have kids. You don’t become a foster parent because you want kids. You do it because you have so much empathy and you want to help these kids have a sense of normality while their world is falling apart.

It’s also very unsafe to “advertise” you have a foster child in your care to the internet. What if a family see this and think it might be their child that was probably forcibly removed from their care and they will do anything to get their child back. Even if this particular child they have seen isn’t their child as they can be moved and placed in various homes not just the nearest one, it’s not safe for the foster family, the foster child, or even the birth family to try and see the child or get to them.

  • @finevindicatedmess
    @finevindicatedmess Год назад +64

I think its no coincidence that Brittany Dawn made her initial foster care announcement on July 18 -- nearly a month after Roe V. Wade was overturned on June 24. Brittany probably saw it as an opportunity to help fuel her Christian "ministry" (evangelical influencer/grifter). As a foster mom, she would get so many new followers from the mommy blogger side of things, and for her existing audience of evangelical Christians, it would be a way to prove how much of a godly servant she was.
The first baby was there for all of two weeks. I join the countless people in weeping for that little foster baby, who was being exploited and used as a prop by Brittany next to her Amazon affiliate links as she used targeted hashtags to get on over to the mommy vlogger and foster care side of social media. I also feel so bad for that poor mother, who didn't get any say in having her baby be exploited for clout -- all during what I can only imagine is the hardest season of her life. Nevermind the fact that Brittany left potpourri burning on the stove, or the fact that her husband has a history of violence and assault.
Her latest -- and hopefully last -- placement was a Black baby they got the weekend of the Super Bowl. She posted once about the baby, then she posted another TikTok about how heartbreaking it would be once she had to give "Little one" back to their mommy. (Once again, she cannot mention foster parenting without mentioning _her_ heartbreak and sacrifice.) Ever since, she's basically been dramatically posting about bullying and how angry she is at people for "telling lies about her on the internet." It also should be noted that her next court date is nearly 2 days away -- and then her trial should take place March 6.
I'm honestly sick and tired of this woman's lack of accountability, her hypocrisy, and her incessant grifting. No, Brittany -- you don't get to do whatever the hell your delusions tell you to do. No, you do not get to "help others" by offering them "help" you are woefully unqualified to give. And yes -- I hope that the judge on March 6 throws the entire book at you. You have gone far too long without any disciplinary action for your repugnant actions and it's about damn time you are held accountable for once.

I work with the system a lot with my job. I know right now that TX is SO backed up with kids, they have them in HOTEL rooms. (We have kids in KS from TX bc of this)
I'm not surprised they looked over a lot with the Dawn's. At this point, I think they're just so desperate for any kind of help that they'll look over a lot. And the system sucks anyway. I worked with a kid whose only triggers were the very town they were in. And they begged not to go back and they took them there anyway. They couldn't talk to their own siblings at their school.
But, you're not supposed to post anything that'll reveal the kids' identity. Most places/systems don't allow you to post pictures of kids AT ALL. It's a violation of HIPAA. It puts the kids in danger. This is ridiculous and I'm fuming about it. These kids go through enough already. They don't need this.

Thanks. It seems the 'state' doesn't care much except to get the kids out of the system...no matter how poorly they are cared for. Seems to me I remember that the Dougherty Dozen family said they went through some kind of 'private' agency in order to add two more children since they were at a limit of 8 (New York) and the private agency allowed them to get by the law...making 10. Also, she has since additionally taken in two of her friend's children as 'kinship' placements rather than 'foster' because she didn't want it to interfere with her social media vlogging.....I assume no filming of 'fosters'. How do a friend's children qualify as 'kin'? So now she's got a dozen kids under her roof....making a FORTUNE exploiting them. Public school has to follow state rules which are very strict but anything privately run has their own set of rules and they’re often more lenient. Like when you foster through the state you pretty much have no choice in the race or background of the child but if it’s a Christian organization you may get to “pick” the child you take. Anyone feel free to correct me if I’m wrong but to my knowledge Christian organizations for fostering are wayyyyy more “forgiving” of who is allowed to foster.

I can’t believe she has the kids posted online!! My cousin is a foster mom right now to a beautiful sweet baby boy! She has had him since he was brought home from the hospital. She cannot post ANY social media pics of him or state his name or ANY info. She only refers to him as “little man” online in FB posts but there are NO PICS. Like she may say “little man’s first Christmas” and have pics of the presents- but that’s it.

Definitely concerned too. They also will have a constant stream of changing drama and content with being foster carers too as opposed to adopting into their family. Their stock of children can change with ranges and seasons of clothing lines, pretty much forever. And if it all goes wrong they can pivot again. Its disgusting.

I once thought my car was stolen in the Target parking lot. My son was young, I was tired, and I needed diapers. I literally called the cops, and my husband. He says he is on his way, he calls, and I say are you here? He says yes, and I’m standing next to your parked car in the other side of the parking lot🙈that’s mom brain, and it’s funny. Not burning something on the stove.

As a foster parent there are so many things wrong with all of this. Foster care rules vary state to state (sometimes even agency to agency), but no information on any trauma the child has suffered should be shared on the internet. ever. I was huge on reunification with my one case with the parent. I could not image ever feeling like I could share their story. Foster to adopt is wonderful. Not all kids will be reunified, but the majority of adoptable children are older- not babies (at least from my experience). I really think the amount of information she is sharing is not okay at all.

Totally agree with everything you said. I wonder if she also did the rebranding to look good in court. Like Elizabeth Holmes got pregnant before/during her trial. Mothers usually get treated nicer in the legal system. And the whole Christian persona makes her “look like a good person” to people that do not know her whole story. Just some thoughts.

We’ve adopted 2 beautiful children from foster care and I would NEVER share even the slightest detail of their birth scenarios or family background online. That is their personal story and I won’t let strangers on the internet feel entitled to it. There are ways to educate about foster care without violating the privacy of the children and parents involved. She should know better if her heart was in the right place.

I work in juvenile court dealing with child welfare cases & if I knew a mother was on social media posting a child in our courtroom I’d report it to my judge and the caseworkers. This is awful. I also do not like when people join the foster care program with the intention of adoption. Foster care is not to be for adoption. They may adopt but people use that as a way to adopt faster than the regular adoption process. It also is such a bad mindset to go into foster care because we have parents who try to prevent reunification services from being successful because they want to put a wedge in between the child(ren) from the parents so that they can adopt them. That’s not the point of foster care. Or if they’re in it to adopt and they get a kid they don’t want to adopt they’ll make the foster care experience awful for that child

The baby wasn't inside the stroller, but holy shit, how is even the concept of that hilarious? I can't with people like that.
What's worse is people excuse that kind of humour. When it was brought up to management that that's not a funny video to share, they're like, "Well, nothing happened and she thought it was funny." Nope. Nope. Nope.

"Selfless" is a bit of a stretch; foster parents and adoptive parents are usually acting to fulfill their own needs (as well as the needs of the child, if they are good non-birth parents) but pretty much never the needs of the child's bio family (be that bio siblings being separated from each other, bio parents that needed help to get their lives safe and stable enough for them and their kid(s) to be together, or the bio extended family that is not allowed to care for their relatives (often) because of biases against their race, job, money, gender, sexuality or lifestyle).

If the child was having withdrawals, they wouldn’t have been discharged from the hospital yet. If it was going to take more than a few days and they were going to be on medically assisted treatment for withdrawal after discharge, they have to be in medical foster care, which is a completely different thing. I call BS on her post and think it was for attention.

I know many people who have either been in the system and placed with foster families and people who have been foster parents. A lot of the time the ones who were foster parents were in it for the extra money the kids bring in a month. I also know that in the states of MO and NE they have to pass a federal criminal background check. So I have no idea how these two "wonderful" humans passed that because you have to report any time you go to court as a defendant and with her current legal situation she should not have been allowed to take on foster children. And if it is something through a church then shame on that organization for not doing their due diligence

Brittany Dawn fostering & opening a baby clothing line just feels so gross. If it was anybody else I would even think twice about it.
This is Brittany Dawn. She only does things that benefit her selfish Interests.
I hate to think this way but this plan kills two birds with one stone.
Fostering makes her look selfless & motherly to the courts( Plus the lawyers will add in, "Brittany can not do time, you will take her away from her child") & then the clothing line is to make money off of it to pay these lawyer to say things like that.
Brittany Dawn will record every minute of it too. Monetize monetize monetize.
(This sounds horrible but once the trial is over, by fostering she can decide not to do it anymore & go back to her scammy life.
My opinion sounds mean-spirited but if you know the history of Brittany Dawn, you probably can see how I can have that opinion.
She only has herself to blame.

When she explains that her dog got hit by a car and then when they came home and found their dog still alive, not only did they shoot the dog her husband revved the car engine to protect Britney from hearing the gun shot. Why weren’t these people thinking of the welfare of the dog? If a dog just got hit by a car and is left on the side of the road it’s not thinking it’s getting shot especially when it hears a loud ass car rev you probably traumatized the dog 20 times harder than if you would’ve just shot it

UNLESS he was convicted in the state of Kansas I’m not sure that they would deny them to be a foster parent. I was a DFPS worker in the state of Texas and we only visited with foster children once a month unless they were children with extra needs (mental health/medically needy). Children fall through the cracks ALL OF THE TIME.
