    The galactic rim is the border of the milky way, our galaxy. 40k almost never mentions what happens outside de milky way beyond some stories here and there, or how the tyranids came from outside our galaxy
    The shaman sacrifice and the star baby (Big E) is one of the mythos about his creation, we are not sure if that's the real one but is one of the most plausible
    Press F for Sanguinius
    55:27 In the books that fight is Anime tier, they're literally moving at speed the people around can't even follow with their eyes, jumping in between dimensions, other planets, non-euclidean folds in space, time, etc they even play yugi-oh (the 30k version), it's what happens when the most powerful psyker with 50k years of experience and the champion of the 4 chaos gods with all their blessings fight. Simply insane

      Regarding "Big E" it's suggested that he has appeared throughout human history as pivotal figures (literally Jesus in this context) and has shaped events so that humanity would make it to where they did during the golden age of technology. What he didn't anticipate was how much Chaos would mess with his plans. There are several theories on the Emperor's power and where it comes from, ranging from "Tzeench literally planned and schemed for him to exist so he could weaken the other Chaos gods in the great game" to "The Orks believe him to be a powerful god, and because so many of them believe he is a god they willed it to be true."
      The only things we KNOW for sure is that he is a perpetual, that he's currently "alive" technically on the golden throne, and that he foresaw a lot of what happened, but he was not a god or perfect. Thanks to the End and the Death, we also know that he COULD have been a god, but turned down that power because his birth as a god would've destroyed humanity. We know that he "took" power from the Chaos gods to create the primarchs (whether it was stolen or given isn't clear).
      Anything else is up to interpretation, down to his appearance even. He looks different to different people. Custodes see him as an equally sized man. The Sisters of Silence see him as a small frail child. He shows what people want to see through psychic projection. I personally think that he was manipulated by Tzeench, who has plans within plans to use him to weaken Khorne specifically so that he can overtake the others in the great game.

      The shaman sacrifice story is from a old book and it's hard to tell if it's still canon. Regardless, it's essentially the only explanation we ever got, although imho it's pretty much confirmed that the Emperor has been alive since prehistoric times even if I'm not sure if Anatolia being his birthplace is mentioned again.

      12 shaman in a trenchcoat, or "the captain planet technique" as i prefer, is the most widely believed version and the only one the emperor himself has in any way even remotely come close to confirming.
      AND THIS IS JUST ME, I HAVE MINIMAL EVIDENCE FOR THIS- i think Ra Endemyon's mother was right, he's not actually a person. "Big E" is not even THAT GUY, but some kind of insanely advanced super weapon (or AI, or warp entity for that matter) passing itself off as the mythical "Emperor of Mankind". this entity heard about the shamans, their plan, etc... and decided to self-insert, playing the role of the Emperor. it's not impossible given that things like The Angel exist, and i also have reason to believe Big E has been killing/absorbing the other perpetuals to empower itself.

      I don't even see the star exploding as that impressive. I think a lot of people forget or either take it as granted that the Necrons commonly use their own tesseract pocket dimensions in battle. The Eldar have the Webway, sure, but they didn't make it, it was handed over to them by the Old Ones. The Necrons however made their own dimension. That, and let's not forget the Necron Chronomancers literally control time to the point that if you shoot one with a tank, it could just go "oop, I wasn't harmed by that in *this* timeline!" and just walk away unscathed.

      The Necrons in their prime where so far beyond the Eldar in their prime (shortly before their demise) that its not even funny in terms of technological and scientific understanding of how realspace (as opposed to the dimension of the warp) works and rivaled the eldar's understanding of the warp to the point that the necrons could build tools for closing warp rifts, Cadia hid one such facility and it nearly closed the eye of terror before Abaddon broke the planet which caused a backlash that tore the eye-rift, until then the largest rift in the galaxy, into a streak near bisecting the galaxy in two.

      @@accywacky2699 Tbf, Games Workshop have gone on record during interviews where they stated that the three most advanced species in the setting were the Necrons, Humans and Aeldari, but they had different specialties. The Necrons were masters of Realspace tech, the Aeldari were masters of Warp based technology, and humanity were extremely adept at mixing the two, reaching maybe 80%-90% of what the other two species did in their respective fields. Of course, the current Necrons, Humans and Eldar cannot access anything approaching the peak of their technology outside of certain extreme circumstances due to their respective issues. We have seen what happens when they go toe to toe with their best tech however, at least in a broad sense. During the Pariah Nexus, when the Silent King was leading the campaign and activating the Blackstone Pillars, he decided to use some of their old doomsday weapons to fight against the Imperium in an effort to keep the worlds they’d stolen. The Mechanicus weren’t happy about that in the slightest and decided to whip out some of the doomsday shit they’d recovered from the DAoT. It’s unclear what exactly happened, except it lead to a literal stalemate between the two factions, and a hell of a lot of losses on both sides.

    About Cadia: This was extremely shortened. Cadia faced the chaos legions head on, but the onslaught was WAY TOO MUCH for them (and even then, they did not surrender), MANY forces from the imperium, like the Adeptus Astartes, the Adeptus Mechanicus and every single legion available from the Astra Militarum were sent to help Cadia BUT WAS NOT ENOUGH. The battle was so damn entrenched Abaddon had to ultimately sacrifice his precious blackstone fortress and destroy the planet. The chaos legions summoned all kinds of demonic entities into the planet but the cadians resisted HARSHLY, both sides were depleting en-masse, chaos with their unending legions and the mortals fighting fiercely. Breaking the planet was the only way Abaddon could have gotten his victory instead of fighting endlessly. THIS is why it is said "the planet broke before the guard did", meaning "you had to break the planet because you could not break us"... And this is why we cry for Cadia. Cadia stands!

Not to mention the Eye of Terror was being shrunk by the effort of Trazyn and Cawl. Chaos at that time was so close to being dealt a massive blow that would've set them back tens of thousands of years but Abaddon threw the Blackstone fortress and completely reversed everything. Even after Abaddon put everything he had against Cadia he still nearly lost and cost them the entire Long War but just that on salty move he did reversed everything about the Imperium.

    40:50 The reason is purely rooted in Mars' military power at the time. Going to war with the Cult Mechanicum would've left the Emperor's forces crippled and delay the Great Crusade for centuries if not millennia, whereas allying with them would speed it up significantly. Considering the Emperor is a psyker who can see the future to a degree, this was an easy compromise to make.
    Side note, it's implied that the C'tan that crashed into Mars millions of years ago, the Void Dragon, is the Martian Machine God. But because the Cult Mechanicum is unaware of its true nature and the Emperor beat a shard of it in combat while a lot of Tech Priests bore witness they believe that the Emperor is the Prophet of the Machine God, the Omnissiah, who saved them from a great evil. Which made the compromise easy from their point of view.
    Also, the Cult Mechanicum in 30k is significantly less zealous than in 40k, there are still a bunch of Tech Priests who don't go all in with the body modification and instead only replace and augment that which is practical, the most extreme individual in that regard being Arkan Land who I believe only had some organs replaced and only one mechadendrite.

    In the novels, Horus doesn't fall to Chaos until about halfway through the second book, so for a good chunk of the early books, you are seeing Horus as he was when he was loyal to the Emperor. In those early books, Horus is presented not only as a great warrior and strategist but also as a charismatic leader of the Imperium, able to inspire adoration and loyalty. A big part of the first three books of the Horus Heresy series is the tragedy of seeing this once-great champion of the Emperor, succumb to his worst traits, and betray everything he stood for.
    So, yeah, I think Horus would be the best role for Cavill in my imaginary Game of Thrones-esque TV series about the Horus Heresy. You'd start with him as this incredibly charismatic bad ass and see him descend into the perfect champion of the forces of hell. I think Cavill could pull off both sides of that performance really well.

      Rumour is Amazon wants to go woke and Cavill is going to bail. Last I heard they want 50% of the Space Marines to be women.

    • @Xynth25
      @Xynth25 3 месяца назад +1

      @@kingkong381 The problem with going straight to the Heresy is that it'll filter too many people for Amazon to want to do it first. It's a huge commitment of actors, sets, props, CGI, and so dense in lore that people new to the setting will bounce. They'll use Cavill to draw people to a much smaller scale story, most likely.

    • @kingkong381
      @kingkong381 3 месяца назад

      @Xynth25 Oh, for sure. Whatever the project ends up being, it will likely attempt to serve as an intro to the setting as a whole rather than adapt the Horus Heresy. Chances are Cavill ends up playing an original character, either an Inquisitor if mortal or probably a Primaris Lieutenant if Astartes. Possibly a Custodes, since that's his favourite faction. If they really wanted to put him in a major role of current-era 40k, then chances are he'd end up playing Guilliman, but I hope not since I really don't think he'd suit that role.
      But in my imaginary fan-casting of the Horus Heresy, I struggle to think of another actor I'd want to see as Horus.

    This series was largely my introduction to 40K, I went into it, probably with less knowledge than you have now, and came out of it more knowledgeable, because the format of the series, while, mostly, comedic, does teach a LOT about what happened in universe, in a pretty memorable and digestable way. It is worth noting that there are also some very spectacular / serious moments, especially as the series goes on
    At first you could probably watch 3-4 episodes per video, but they start getting longer over time
    If you'd like I can give a link to the playlist containing all the episodes, there's a fair few of them. 30 mainline episodes (With some being two parters) and other bonus episodes etc

    One thing. Lorgar didn't need new gods after the emperor shamed him. Instead he sought the truth, and when he learned how terrible their universe was, he still accepted it because it was the truth. He freely and with full understanding chose to accept chaos.

    There were only 4 Legions on Isstvan III - Sons of Horus, Death Guard, Emperor's Children and World Eaters, they were there to purge Loyalists from their ranks. Few of the Loyalist escaped and warned Emperor about Horus' betrayal.
    So, Emperor sent 7 legions to bring Horus to him, not knowing that 4 of those 7 legions already pledged to Horus - Night Lords, Iron Warriors, Word Bearers and Alpha Legion. When they found Horus and his allies on Isstvan V first to land on that planet were Loyalist from Salamanders, Raven Guard and Iron Hands, with other 4 Legions landing behind their back. Everything in this video was explained in the one you saw 2 weeks ago by Bricky "W40K Timeline"! I know it's a lot of information and it takes time to sink in but I believe you were hearing it but not listening to it. Remember the kiddie pool analogy? The calm warp was massively disrupted by the War in Heaven.
    Also... the Universe is full of Galaxies, we live in a spiral one called The Milky Way (named after the greek goddess Hera squirting milk from her breast) and of course it has an end, the edge of a circle is called the circumference, hence rim.

The Emperor and Sanguinius had teleported up to the Vengeful Spirit with an army of Marines, Custodes, and Imperial Army soldiers. As the Emperor lay dying, a regular soldier, just a normal mortal unaugmented guy, stepped in front of the Emperor to protect him. Horus just laughed and used a spell to flay the soldier alive, laughing the whole time. It was witnessing that level of cruelty that convinced the Emperor that the Horus he knew was well and truly dead, replaced by a monster wearing his son's face. So he unleashed all his psychic power in one concentrated blast that not only killed Horus but completely destroyed his soul.

    Weshammer also get Erdas motivation for scattering the Primarchs wrong. She didn't do it because she was being a protective mother, she did it because she thought the Emperors end goal was horrific. A lot of the Emperors perpetual allies turned on him for reasons you discover in the later Horus Heresy novels, he wasn't the smartest dude when it came down to it.
