It was at the turn of the century when my Grandma Miller came down the San Juaquine river from Missouri. It's hard to imagine that when you see how the river flows now. The mighty San Juaquine now harassed by man, controlled by his need to water land that became the cornacopia of everything good to eat The fruit growing capital that feeds the world. And Grandma Miller was the chef who brought it all down to the table she built called The Square Deal Cafe on Herndon and Blackstone Ave. in the earlier years of settlement in Pinedale. I remember the cotton gins, the orchards and gardens that went on forever. And The Sierra Mountains looming in the distance and gigantic logs for habitations delivered by the River that flowed like blood through the veins of my family.

There used to be something called the Porter Cologne act that was supposed to prevent something like this from ever happening. My question is what allowed this to happened because Porter Cologne is supposed to protect fisheries to my understanding .
Friant Dam was not built because of farmers and "rich land owners". The "rich" farmers would have preferred to have bought up the best land next to the river and would have built their own reservoirs. No, the dam was built because the river would flood the valley. It was built in the name of progress and urban growth.

Now once again, they are talking about raising Shasta Dam as a way to get more water for everyone. BUT if you look at the whole plan, it only goes to L.A.. Also you have to have the snow pack as well. As a resident of Shasta County, I know there are a few times were we have seen the lake full enough to get to see it released. So stay away D.W.R.
Hydropower and agriculture are pretty great. However, electricity means modernity and economic prosperity; two things greens do not like. This is why California is less resilient to drought.

Bodies of water are not just water in a glass, the beings that live IN the water are connected to the beong that live IN the land, and UP in the air, and ON the land, it gets even smaller than decomposers. Take a simple Environmental Biology class. Eco system destruction = eventual destruction of regional agriculture
