All the techniques you should know!!!⚡️

I’m creating a series of purposfully blurry oil paintings at the moment so i thought id share some advice on technique.
These are the most common techniques in oil painting! 👇
First ALLA PRIMA: Also known as direct painting or wet-on-wet, involves applying wet paint in one expressive layer like the impressionists.
GLAZING is the opposite. It involves using oil medium to patiently add transparent layers over a dry underpainting to add luminous colour areas in areas the skin as used by the old masters.
SCUMBLING also involves adding layers over an underpainting but this layer uses dry, broken, textured brushstrokes like Turner
UNDERPAINTING is just the process of creating an initial monochromatic or tonal layer as a foundation for the subsequent layers.
IMPASTO is when you use thick, globby paint to create a textured - dimensional effect in the canvas like Van Gogh or Rembrandt
DRYBRUSH is using a minimally loaded, dry brush with thick paint to create textured or scratchy strokes, used in Realism by artists like Sargent.
SGRAFFITO is when layers of paint are partially scraped away to reveal underlying colors or textures, seen in the works of Renaissance artists.
BLENDING is achieved by mixing colors or softly merging edges using soft brushes or other tools, used in Realism and Baroque art; think of Gentileschi through her use of chiaroscuro.

i swear, i don't even like oil paint. but your shorts are like college lectures. how is that even possible.
im sub'd btw. a lot of technical art info can be extrapolated in different mediums. especially nuances of brush strokes and paint textures
