Great video, do all of open sea leather wallets patina?

Great video! I think it is worth noting that while Horween’s natural shell cordovan doesn’t have any stain applied to it, it is “hot stuffed” with many different types of oils and greases during the tanning process, all of which likely effect the color of the shell. Additionally, something you may find interesting is that the Japanese tanneries Shinki Hikaku and Leder Ogawa both produce natural shell that is very similar in tone to the buttero! I suspect they use fewer oils and greases in their tanning process, rending a lighter (and dryer, in my experience) shell. Very cool to see how each tannery achieves a different effect even though their leathers are technically the same ☺️

Thank you Stephanie! That’s really interesting, and seems to explain it! It would be cool if Phil/Ashland mention that - maybe I’ll catch a live stream and ask him.
Btw I found your video of the Fat Herbie super useful - helped me decide to order one recently :)

Solid video and carry! Is the OS wallet just pocket carry or sun tanning as well? - @edc_adam

Thanks! The OS wallet is like 98% pocket carry. Had a tiny bit of sun in Cornwall last year haha
