I’m 84 and have been enjoying Errol all that time but never heard anyone who could come close to his playing until now. Close your eyes and imagine the concert hall at Carmel. Wonderful and somehow respectful of the original.
Absolutely wonderful. You really nailed the RH chord voicing at 1:45. Now all you need to perfect is: never looking at the keyboard, grinning at the audience and perspiring a bit more 🤣. Oh and don’t forget the phone book. He was such a joyful player to watch. Thanks for posting
I have. I think it's all good. Keep in mind I am not Garner but love him very much. With that said, I think a Garner comp on this song is just great because he did that himself as well when he recorded it of course....
You don't need to waste your time on replying to such ignorant comments! I discovered you tonight and i hope to meet you one day. Your LH voicings are excatly as errold did, the touch and the swing is great. It's funny because some are so simple (Ab C Eb F on Ab6) and some sound so well in drops (Eb Ab C F for. also Ab6) I could talk for hours about all the nice stuff you are using. Great job!

Maybe he IS the reincarnation of Errol Garner?
…but surely (Shirley) Lullaby of Birdland was written by George Shearing???? (ruclips.net/video/UHlZ94wNF74/видео.htmlsi=Wq5PKf206t3Y4v3t )
@@WilHenDavis Not sure what you mean. I didn’t say Garner wrote ‘Lullaby of bird land’.

@@swingbram - Which would only be possible if he IS the reincarnation of Erroll Garner!
Garner and Shearing but you have faster moves!
I don't think this song is good for a Garner comping. Have you heard Marian McPartland's take on this song?
