Eugene and Alex were closer to each other than anyone else in the group as they had a similar sense of humour and shared similar opinions when it came to the other riders, so it makes sense to make them friends and stay in touch but it was a bit out of the blue with their little team name and stuff especially since both of them don’t enjoy cutesy romantic stuff that tends to be Tom and June’s forte. Plus they’re the best characters so I’m happy with it. The villains were way too easily defeated and was rushed and anticlimactic but i don’t think anyone was expecting anything fantastic in this series.
So glad that show is over with I just hope they don't continue it in a different way like a reboot or something then again I hope the life action HTTYD goes well
To be fair for the Alex and Eugene stuff, they were like the only characters who were not just their archetypes and did somewhat open up to each other first, but its still not a lot of set up yeah
No offense DreamWorks but I am glad that The Nine Realms is FINALLY over because it was really a pain to the HTTYD fran..........okay, no, I'm sorry but I am NOT acknowledging The Nine Realms show as part of the HTTYD franchise, I just can't. I appreciate and respect the cast and crew for all the effort they put into making this but this show was just not appealing in factors of storytelling, pacing, continuity, character personality, character development and a lot of things. The Nine Realms had potential with the idea but the execution failed. The story was too rushed and all over place with the plot creating too many plot holes in so little time and the times where the show was a good experience were few while going through a back and forth of being good one moment and then being a train wreck the next. As for the characters, aside from Alex and maybe Eugene, the rest of the new generation of "Dragon Riders" weren't really that memorable with themselves. Tom being the main protagonist as a descendant of Hiccup and Astrid didn't really live up to the hype as much. Jun was just so annoying that I almost hoped that a dragon killed her. D' angelo went back and forth with wanting be his own person and then going back to being hesitant to some degree. Alex was the most original character in this with most personality that was refreshing and relatable. Eugene to me was a close second after as an exceptional character and that's it. The adults and background characters of the show weren't really as interactive and memorable as the ones from the original series. Most of the time you might forget they are there. Not to mention the whole Project Icarus basis for the show setting the stage for the location leading to the dragon adventures wasn't that enlightening either. As for the villains, I can't even call them villains because they were just a joke Buzzsaw was just crazy and I don't mean funny crazy, just cringe and confusing crazy. There wasn't really a strong method to his madness which made his redemption feel very hollow. I can tell that they wanted to equivalate Buzzsaw's arc to Dagur's but it doesn't have the same substance and plot buildup as Dagur's did. With Dagur, we had a history of his character and madness, over time we got a deeper look in the method behind the madness which made his redemption satisfying and full of meaning without losing Dagur's great chaotic energy but still showing his growth from who he was back then to who he is now. Buzzsaw on the other hand had none of that and he was still just as confusing after his redemption than when he was before it. Sledkin felt more like an afterthought character than an intimidating villain. We don't see her much and her motivations also feel like an afterthought. She wasn't there that much so her death just felt like them putting her on time out again but this time permanently. If you want a great masterfully written HTTYD villain who is memorable, alluring and badass, I can give one name and it will say it all; *Viggo Grimmborn* Now he is a great example of a villain even with his slight redemption in the end. As for the dragons, there was the good, the bad and the cringey nightmare fuel. They could have added a bit more detail and time to them. Also, I don't see the point of bringing dragons back only to pull a 'The Hidden World' stunt in the end but I guess is for the best and maybe with the next HTTYD series, the dragons will stay permanently. So, yeah, The Nine Realms had a lot of potential but it missed the mark and I can't really say that I'll miss it much. Respect to the cast and crew for their efforts and time. Maybe the next HTTYD series will be better.
Agreed, I personally don't mind having the HTTYD franchise set in different time periods but the setting in the modern era was way too soon. The setting in the Viking era showed how primitive the weapons and warring factions were and the dragons they were fighting against had an aerial advantage, breathed fire, and were impervious to blunt force (in some scenarios). Dragons were feared creatures, but Hiccup changed this dynamic drastically when he introduced the concept of taming. The weakness of the setting in the modern era is that the dragons are not even a threat anymore (humans have nukes, guns, jets, etc.) and the villains wouldn't really waste their time taming them. In the Viking era, taming a dragon was a big kept secret because it couldn't risk falling into the wrong hands (like Viggo, Dagur, Ryker, or Alvin) which might exploit the Dragons to aid in gaining more territory or threaten people. Is a ''villain'' named Buzzsaw who carries an axe really that big of a threat to the outside world even if he tamed a dragon.
It all just felt so weird to watch a show that I LOVED SO MUCH get shit on with this sequel... This is why some movies shouldnt get sequels. If youre not gonna really sit and put time and effort into it and not publish it until they are super sound and on par with the original then just dont. This whole new show made me so salty because it just felt like such a shitty rip off of the great show we all knew and loved. I couldnt even connect to the characters like at all. Especially compared to how much I connected to Hiccup, Astrid, Fishlegs, Snotlout, and the twins. Dont get me started on Heather, and dagger. I even liked the villains better in the original. Viggo was such a kewl villain to me because he was smart and Hiccup had to outsmart him to beat him.
i'd seen one rewrite/extrapolation of buzzsaw where they just chose to lean into that the dude ain't mentally well and is drowning under the weight of prior expectations still got to be evil, but with a simpler opening to that redemption arc that was already cursed to come since they made him the dagur expy (still not happy with that) also yeah, surprise! someone actually died and stayed dead (because they ran out of ideas of what to do with sledkin with their pre-planned ending)
Even though "The Nine Realms" sucked I somewhat enjoyed it. Because I found the idea of dragon riders in the modern world to be interesting, I mean it's definitely nowhere near as good as the original HTTYD franchise but I'm just saying. And the series ending made me cry a little bit since it was so bittersweet. I mean it may have been a repeat of the ending to HTTYD: The Hidden World, But after everything that Tom and his friends said it was for the best that the dragons and the riders went their separate ways. Because there's no place in the modern world for dragons, By that I mean it's like they said in the modern world dragons could be hunted and experimented on. I know I'm probably gonna get a lot of hate for saying all of this, But these are just my thoughts.
I really hate the concept of "_______ has no place in the modern world", because by that logic, because discrimination exists, and sometimes it can even lead to death, alongside other horrible things, we should shove all the discriminated against groups into some "hidden world" and pretend they don't exist. It is a terrible concept, which no matter the execution would suck and I would hate it.
Dreamworks need to understand the httyd series/movies ended with the third film. Just stop beating a beautifully ended franchise. We dont need spinoffs or live action movies let the series rest in peace.
so glad this Dumpsterfire of a kids show is finally over and as someone who loves How to Train Your Dragon this series feels like mediocre spin-off series that didn't even try
This was clearly intended for children and i absolutely hated that. When i first heard of this show i knew it wasn’t worth my time. Whatever happened to “maturing with your audience”. A new generation of children should be introduced to this franchise the way we all had to. By the first movie and the tv shows.
The final big bad was a dragon that was hyped to be the world ender, but what was an underwhelming disappoint. One it's not even the biggest dragon we've seen like at all, two it cant even fly so it's region locked, 3 it's only unique traits is that it kinda looks scare (not that much) and it spits poison gas. They really defeated it by hitting it really hard together until it passed out.
Ok I haven’t watched this show, but do they show Hiccup and Toothless trapping this thing and when did they trap it, because it would have to be before THW and I’m sure they would if mentioned it. Also why does this kid have Valka’s staff?
They do, though I don't know why you think him trapping Jörmungandr would have to be before THW given he's trapped... in the hidden world. And Tom has Valka's staff because Hiccup apparently felt it necessary to just leave it with the cage he trapped Jörmungandr in or something.
@@lilmissbacon it would have to be before the hidden world because Toothless leaves at the end, like it’s pretty obvious and so they would of have to trap it before Toothless left, also why would Hiccup just leave it there
@@Spyalwayswins Well the nines realms decided back in like season 4 to basically retcon the end of THW so Hiccup and his family moved to live in the hidden world with Toothless. They also never explain why Hiccup decided to leave Jörmungandr to suffer with no food or water other than plot. Do NOT expect this show to respect the original franchise, you will be thoroughly disappointed.
I wasn’t even aware that this series existed, but it is very disappointing that they sullied the name of the How to Train your Dragon franchise because it was really, really well done in the movies.
am i happy the show is over yes as one who love the old show and movies this show was just terrible terror even some animation error in the show i was more sad then rescue riders was over
After all of the analysis around this show, I can only come away with one conclusion: This show was some random dude's lame fanfiction about HTTYD but set in the modern day, and his dad, who it turns out is a producer for Peacock and was buddy-buddy with Dreamworks executives, found out about it and turned it into an 8 season show. I can't PROVE that this is how this show came into existence, but it sure wouldn't surprise me if it WAS.
i would be happy with more how to train your dragon animated show but not like the nine realms i just have an + on what the hell happend to hiccup since he lived in the hidden world what about his family astrid zephyr nuffink i just asume he didnt lived down there permantly like a cave man i just hope if they do that series i hope is same animated as race to the edge or a simula animation to the third movie
I think Buzzsaw's redemption was ok honestly. It wasn't fantastic but I think his relationship with Jack made him reform and I think that's why he changed in the first place. I think this has been ruminating a lot, since Jack didn't try to escape Buzzsaw after some time in season 5. In season 6, Buzzsaw states that Jack is the only one who understands him and feeds him with no effort. Season 7 shows Jack as the number two to Buzzsaw, not only as his muscle but as a strategist for him as well to help him plan, with only Jack and Buzzsaw pursuing Tom and Jun, Ford and Winston stating that Buzzsaw loves Jack more, Jack going on afternoon flights with Buzzsaw. When Jack saw Buzzsaw in trouble, he protected him and the sight of everything they did together as allies came back to Buzzsaw, changing his mind not for his goals, but what's best for his dragon. Jormungandr was a better villain though, he was truly terrifying and his actions and intelligence make him exceptionally formidable. But they should have killed him, there was no way you could redeem a villain like that, especially since a person like Sledkin died as well, it just makes sense it would face the same treatment for how evil it was.
hate eugene, hes annoying. wanted buzzsaw to die. glad slutkin died. the world serpent shouldn't even be alive and it isn't even the worst dragon final boss, this team would have never defeated the og screaming death. glad i watched for more dragons but i hated the animation and story. edit: we should've seen more light and night furies.
You know what I was kinda excided with "Dragons: Nine Realms" when they've announced it. A divined new HTTYD series based around the modern world sounded like a good idea, but when they've released the 1 season, I was very disappointed, I know it was going to be made for kids but come on the kids deserved better than this bull crap. The plots are mostly meaningless, and it doesn't help that writer liked to stretch it out for the run time. The main characters are very dull and dislikable with them just bickering about the foolish things that doesn't even matter. And Their designs/names are so basic that it seemed like everyone at the designer team were rushed to make an idea in 1 week before the show airing. And it also doesn't help that they butchered the original storyline, it ticked me off whenever they've tried to explain some type of significant relationship towards the original crew for the plot in the dumbness way as possible. The dragons were alright for the most part, somewhere ok, somewhere awesome, while others didn't make any sense at all. The whole show itself had an interesting idea going for it but it was clear that the writers didn't care about this show at all and was only here to make a quick buck out of newer fans and the older ones. Which is sad to see a franchise I've grew up with turning itself into a cash cow for DreamWorks, and I also can't believe that I've sat there and watch the entirety of it hoping that it'll get better sometime soon but it always ends up biting my ass and laughs at me for believing that.
This season was a harsh snap back to reality after the season 7 finale left my friend and I hopeful that they would keep this high stakes momentum up and do more storylines that alter the status quo. Then the first episode of season 8 has them screwing around like the world serpent isnt loose and our expectations were back in check. The worst part of it is the wasted potential, which can be said for the whole series, but especially in the final act, made no plainer than the end of the last episode and we felt...nothing. Like, yes, relief that we no longer must torment ourselves with this, but the ending was just so vacuous we couldnt feel strongly one way or the other about it. Of course they needed to do the hidden world ending, that was inevitable. Of course tom and jun dated and dangelo opened his vet, and etc. It was so expected and so bland. The strongest feeling we had on the ending as a whole was wishing alex and eugene had their own spinoff due to being the best characters.
I don't know about you guys but I actually liked it. I was just happy that after watching how to train your dragon series, there's still some more stories I can watch.
I honestly refused to watch this and I saw it I’m no it’s horrible I have such a great idea for for how to train your dragon 4 instead of this and it included the character we love and the kids and dager and heather witch I wonder what happened there and what is the animation and clothing and houses why is it modern and where is is hiccup and Astrid kids the girl where is she and I love my how to train your dragon 4 that I have in mind and what granddad there is no grandad where is toothless it is awful I love how to train your dragons I was sad when it ended but I have such a good idea for how to train your dragon 4 wish I could make it happen
toxic /destructive relationships in films sell tickets, and so does murder. How to Train Your Dragon was a disappointment, this series felt like it was milking the popularity of the movies. and get around the 'we are only making a trilogy'. i have seen better series with lower budgets than this one.
Lol. I can't inderstand the drama about green crystalls. They want to say us that main heroes can go to the dragon's world and the oxygen from earth can't be in this worlds. Damn, it's fully unlogic
You know they could of made it a modern world, but instead have the MC fall into the world of dragons like they're stuck there. Fuck buzzsaw design as a hunter is so good infact. If they change him up made him a protag living his life in the dragon world and not a insane person. IT would of fucking been so good. Hell maybe he meets other people now stuck in the dragon world. Feral badass human female Heroine fuck yes
I admit that the show wasn't always good, but one thing I like about the show are the characters and, most of all, the new and old species of dragons, especially the Night Lights
The moment I saw this was set in a modern world, garbage. Never even wanted to see any thumbnail about it. Now they’re doing live action. Unless it’s rated R please leave it alone~ LEAVE HTTYD ALONE 😵💫
Don't sued IT to call it Trash only because IT doesnt Play in the Viking age and the quality of race to the age wasn't better It ist a series more for Younger. viewers
Honestly working on a fanfic where the MC is Tom's sister, who only sees potential in Feathers and Plowhorn as being true dragons, while Thunder, Wu and Wei, and Webs are all just overgrown reptiles that barely evolved past their wings. She isn't evil or anything, but she has the old Book of Dragons in her possession, and knows that with the Realms being all over the place, dragobs need somewhere permanent to stay if one ever happened to collapse. This leads to her discovering and rebuilding The Edge, along with her Light Fury partner.
I enjoyed most of the series, but I have many ideas of how Dragons the Nine Realms could have been 1000 times better; which I am writing down right now for later…
So glad this was over. This whole last few seasons was a gigantic mess and the human characters interacting with each other is cringe, especially with Jun involved.

As for the villains, I can't even call them villains because they were just a joke
Buzzsaw was just crazy and I don't mean funny crazy, just cringe and confusing crazy.
If you want a great masterfully written HTTYD villain who is memorable, alluring and badass, I can give one name and it will say it all; *Viggo Grimmborn*
Now he is a great example of a villain even with his slight redemption in the end.
Anyone watching Audrey’s videos already know everything wrong with this show without even watching it

Yeah, that ending was horrible.
Can we just pull a Star Wars and not consider this canon?
This is like a Cursed Child or Sequel Trilogu thing, we just have to ignore it
i'd seen one rewrite/extrapolation of buzzsaw where they just chose to lean into that the dude ain't mentally well and is drowning under the weight of prior expectations
still got to be evil, but with a simpler opening to that redemption arc that was already cursed to come since they made him the dagur expy (still not happy with that)
also yeah, surprise! someone actually died and stayed dead (because they ran out of ideas of what to do with sledkin with their pre-planned ending)
It was an example of great concept terrible execution.
Dreamworks should of leave the how too train your dragons alone.
Dreamworks need to understand the httyd series/movies ended with the third film. Just stop beating a beautifully ended franchise. We dont need spinoffs or live action movies let the series rest in peace.
Well, that season was rushed.
THE WHOLE SERIES WAS RUSHED
@@thealligatorboy1424 true.
Lmao I saw the first season and now there’s a season 8 ??? 😭
so glad this Dumpsterfire of a kids show is finally over and as someone who loves How to Train Your Dragon this series feels like mediocre spin-off series that didn't even try
@@lilmissbacon ….i might just watch this just to torture myself lol, but thanks for the insight about this ass of a show
I wasn’t even aware that this series existed, but it is very disappointing that they sullied the name of the How to Train your Dragon franchise because it was really, really well done in the movies.
Boy this show was ugly and pointless--glad I didn't watch it.
It's more liks a rip of the jurassic shows and movies.
am i happy the show is over yes as one who love the old show and movies this show was just terrible terror even some animation error in the show i was more sad then rescue riders was over
WE'RE FINALLY FREE ⛓️
After all of the analysis around this show, I can only come away with one conclusion:
This show was some random dude's lame fanfiction about HTTYD but set in the modern day, and his dad, who it turns out is a producer for Peacock and was buddy-buddy with Dreamworks executives, found out about it and turned it into an 8 season show.
I can't PROVE that this is how this show came into existence, but it sure wouldn't surprise me if it WAS.
This show had 8 Seasons? Over 2 years?
Remember when seasons used to mean something
good grief this show actually lasted 8 seasons?
can't you just looooove modernity? >facepalm, smh
i would be happy with more how to train your dragon animated show but not like the nine realms i just have an + on what the hell happend to hiccup since he lived in the hidden world what about his family astrid zephyr nuffink i just asume he didnt lived down there permantly like a cave man i just hope if they do that series i hope is same animated as race to the edge or a simula animation to the third movie
Season 8???? U are telling me this show didnt died after the 1st season?
THANK GOD ITS FINALLY OVER!!!
It had EIGHT SEASONS?!
Yeah what’s the point of it being called the nine realms where’s the nine season or more then 9 seasons like 10 11 12 and 13 or more
And it was entirely pointless. It didn't even end with the dragons staying in the surface world. Like what was even the point?
Every httyd movie was a masterpiece but The dragons nine realms basicly counts as a ripoff of httyd and dragon nine realms is a shitpiece
How is this show 2 years old and has 8 seasons jesus christ

The spirit of Nine Realms (aka everything negative about it) unfortunately lives on through ‘Megamind vs The Doom Syndicate’ and ‘Megamind Rules!’.
Lol. I can't inderstand the drama about green crystalls. They want to say us that main heroes can go to the dragon's world and the oxygen from earth can't be in this worlds. Damn, it's fully unlogic
*So can someone tell me why in fresh hell this dumpster fire of a series has more seasons than the OG Dreamworks Dragons?????!!!!!!!*
LUCKY I didn't waste my time with such a bad program.
I enjoyed most of the series, but I have many ideas of how Dragons the Nine Realms could have been 1000 times better; which I am writing down right now for later…
I haven’t seen this spin off but I have seen dragon rescuers or something that was pretty good
So glad this was over. This whole last few seasons was a gigantic mess and the human characters interacting with each other is cringe, especially with Jun involved.

The dragons that are shown here are the descendants of the OG dragons (or at least Thunder is, I haven’t actually watched the show). In Nine Realms all of the original characters are long dead. However, you are correct that there is an animated show about the original cast. It’s called Race to the Edge (with earlier seasons called Riders of Berk, or something). That’s a completely different show, though.

8 seasons of bs and bad writing trashing the legacy of the OG characters just so that the final episode has the same exact ending as the Hidden World and dragons just go away again. Literally the same ending.

It's funny how just the first trailer of this show managed to piss off movie/show fans by being in modern day and that feeling like a mistake and pissing off BOOK readers by DOING MODERN DAY WRONG! Where's Cressida? Where's Hiccup the 4th?

I think it’s a great series I mean seeing the descendants of both hiccup and toothless being there to protect the nine realms was epic and plus you know the first flight part 2 episode well the part when Tom and thunder were flying around the crater, it was great, I mean the beginning with the new theme down to the old theme and just playing them in such a way that I can’t even describe it and I love it but I did found a few things that might be hinting to something you know that shield that Tom and jun found right it didn’t look like it was there for 1.300 years no cobwebs, no smudges, which means perhaps there’s a civilisation hidden in the nine realms which probably means new seasons finally, I hope dream works employees read this comment and think of returning to dragons the nine realms series
