1,295 views for something this groundbreakingly cutting-edge. I just fell in love with assembly theory, not for any practical reason, but because it gives me a firm mental handle on the complexity of abiogenesis. Prior to this, I just noted how complexity arises from the simple rules of cellular automata to be a probable cause of life's chemical ballet. This work has absolutely quantified that to any degree we might need, to the extent that we might conceptualize hypothetical state machines operating in say thermal vents. Well done Dr Cronin, good to see Glasgow at the cutting edge, fantastic work, brilliant.

72 steps by a team of synthetic chemists just to cobyric acid, 25 catalysed steps to B12 in living cells that are capable of de novo synthesis and fewer steps in cells that just use salvage pathways from corrin ring structures.

Promising start descended into a simply incorrect theoretical rant not based in reality. There is reactivity between 2 or more chemicals, then there is kinetics but molecular evolution is based on collision theory in the context of availability ( concentration) x stereochemical compatibility x thermodynamic predisposition. In biochemistry this formula becomes concentration x stereochemical affinity x functional value for any particular temperature and pressure.
Wrong theory results in time , effort and money wasted. Life occurred with a scenario, not information.
    Just nonsense Cronin.
