Among the reasons why it didn't click immediately are the stereotypes surrounding ISTPs, such as being good at craftsmanship, tools, inventions, machinery, and are known to be spontaneous daredevils of few words. What I do relate with the ISTP mindset is my ability to find a solution to everything, esp. concerning technology, communications, planning, etc. I have a knack for healthy physical and mental activities. I also have the drive to overcome any challenge, so I tend to learn new skills, big or small, throughout my journey, convincing everyone that I'm adaptable and learn really quick. I did hear that ISTPs have the uncanny ability to be crazy good at anything they put their mind into. Overall, I understand that stereotypes exist not as a generalization, but as a means for us to grasp the principles behind. Being good at physical crafts is simply a byproduct of an ISTP's lone virtuoso mindset ("guess I'll do it myself" type of thinking). ENFJ here, I'm trying to delve deep into understanding my opposite type and honestly I've never had a harder time understanding someone 😅but it's really eye opening and I've met some ISTPs in my life before. Even though we have few things in common, they are some of the COOLEST people ever. They're like the silent badass and it's really fascinating to see them in their element.
you sound like a healthy ENFJ unlike my unhealthy ENFJ friend whom I grew up with. After losing a lot of his closest friends and family he started demanding recognition for every little thing that he's done and even things he had absolutely nothing to do with in order to feel better about himself. A healthy ENFJ or any type for that matter gives from their heart and doesn't "demand" recognition but earns it with kindness. The best way for an ISTP to open up to you is to talk less and listening more with little "control" as possible in my opinion. Give an ISTP what they give others which is silence with a smile and they'll find you interesting instead of just annoying 🙂👍🏼but of course not all ISTP's are created equal so take this with a grain of salt.
@@RRRsimracing That is MUCH appreciated advice. I'm actually working on writing a book with ENFJ and ISTP personality types so knowing how to really interact and connect with them (with anyone) is important. I've had seasons where I've forced my values onto people bc I just felt so strongly about what's best for them, but if I've learned anything from the ISTP, its that freedom is incredibly important. People will come to you when they need you.
Importantly noted- the last part about the "Ti-Ni Loop/WTF years" .. that was a horrific rut I was stuck in during my 20s but going hard with Aux Se really was the key to breaking that. Now working continuously on Fe.. which was barely glanced on here.

Very accurate! I am a hvac technician, have a few friends “Locked”myself away for a year to learn day trading, because I want my freedom and don’t want to be restricted at work
I was mistyped as INTP. I read more in to the other types and was like, wait. Injuring myself daily by climbing trees, playing every sport I could including extreme skiing and weight training, and teaching myself to change my own brakes on a whim just didn't make sense for INTP, and some explanations annoyed me. I fixed my garbage disposal, dishwasher, and microwave in a day after waiting for the man in my life to do it. My last job was literally made for me by the company due to ability to analyze and fix things that weren't working for the company (policies, procedures) and I became the unofficial tech lady. I may have had a bias when taking last time. This is WAY more me.
I tested as an INFP around the time I was in a much more vulnerable state. I decided to do it again recently and it was ISTP which makes 10x more sense.
I recently took the test to figure out career choices and was given the INTJ, which I know I'm not. Turns out my N/S and J/P are near 50/50. So looked into ISTP female and I literally knew that I found out my personality type. I'm a pure tomboy, thinker not a feeler, I like to make my own schedule and do my own thing, and I love sports (watching and playing). I served in the military (police) and am now trying to figure out what career to look into. I don't want to be a civilian cop, no thanks, and I have a lot of interests and hobbies that inspire me and narrowing stuff down isn't my strong suit. I literally think I can do everything 🤣.
I am also a istp female And yes I am also a introvert, tomboy, rebellious, stubborn and I have recently completed my school years and now studying as a mechanical engineer 😅

This is a well done explained educational video. Kudos and thank you eveyone for helping me learn. Then again I never hated those 2 characters I liked them instead. I hope I'm not angering or saddening anyone here when I mention 2 animes that I like who others seem to hate.
As an ISTP most of this is accurate, however being and ISTP and knowing many others (we tend to unintentionally congregate when doing certain high adrenaline activities), the under developed verbal talents does not fit at all. We explore the world around us and constantly ask questions to understand what we are seeing. As such I've found that ISTPs are incredibly developed in being able to verbalize what we are seeing etc.

I got this on my personality test. I resonate with this but also have my doubts. For some reason, when it comes to personality tests, I simply doubt nearly, maybe every question but when I try to think about the question, I simply draw a blank, I truly don’t know what my personality is, like yeah I can be an act emotionally but I can also be rational about things, although I feel as if I’m more emotional, but idk (self doubt again) I feel as if these tests need to put you in scenarios and have you answer according to those scenarios, because it’s hard for me to answer such vague, open ended questions.

@@robertzehm Well the body is a system and like a machine as well. And surgery is one of the specialty that least interacts with patients. I can see plenty of reason why an ISTP would want to be a surgeon. And the career is mentioned in the video as well
I bet you're an ISTJ
@@BakaryD And I bet you're a self proclaimed expert who knows not a single thing about MBTI
@@sfam5920 m8 stop trying to talk about a type you know nothing about. As an ISTP female this vid was incredibly accurate and honestly i could never see an ISTP wanting to be a surgeon. There are other ways to learn things that we actually *want* to do with our lives
My sister is an ISTP and she's a real bad-ass. Cool and aloof to the bone. She has a caring side, but it manifests itself in ways that always takes you by surprise.
Some of this is very accurate, but the rest is extremely far off. I took the test twice and both times a got this.
tests aren't accurate and 16 personalities even less. U should read abt cognitive functions for a correct typing
we all know that istp can easily learn a new skilled trade quickly ... but which of these 2 do you think is the most suitable for ISTP ...? electrician or mechanic ... ???..
Yo nice pfp

@@jojonas4125 well said and that's so cool that you're writing a book. I really hope it goes well for you. Good stuff Jo 😃✌🏽
this was scarily accurate
Importantly noted- the last part about the "Ti-Ni Loop/WTF years" .. that was a horrific rut I was stuck in during my 20s but going hard with Aux Se really was the key to breaking that. Now working continuously on Fe.. which was barely glanced on here.

I have two ISTPs at work place and ... I realy LIKE how they do their job. Very clever, don't waste times with unescesary things, quick thinking. I don't mind of their lack emotion or emphaty. By the way, I am INFJ.
I'm INFJ-A married to an ISTP-A. I agree with you 100%.
This is so accurate. Can't believe it 😮
I'm a self taught guitarist I wasn't forced or something I just was just obsessed I'm one year in and I know how to play playing god if you're guitarist you know what I'm talking about!
Very accurate!
I am a hvac technician, have a few friends
“Locked”myself away for a year to learn day trading, because I want my freedom and don’t want to be restricted at work
I am hvac technician too !!!!!!!!
no matter how many times i take the test, i keep getting this. but i cant relate to anything in this video
you’re probably an istj or intj
the test aren't very accurate, you should look into the cognitive functions
try doing the keys2cognition test, i always got mistyped as istp on 16personalities but im entp lmao
you sound like istp
Me too!
This is WAY more me.
so far this is one of the accurate videos about istp
I tested as an INFP, and "emotionally" it feels relatable, but this ISTP seems MUCH more on point.
I tested as an INFP around the time I was in a much more vulnerable state. I decided to do it again recently and it was ISTP which makes 10x more sense.
For me it depends on how I’m feeling. If I’m very stressed I will act more like an ISTP but I am an INFP
test doesnt mean shit to me like i got entp most of the time which i get why but now istp feels more like it tbh theoritically
This is so ACCURATE!😲
I am also the same way! I'm also looking into military
@@runningkiwi8thl874 I enjoyed my time in the service (Navy) and the benefits are well worth it.
@@MyselfandTom Thank you for your service. That's the branch I want to join! I'm planning on going in as an officer
I am also a istp female
And yes I am also a introvert, tomboy, rebellious, stubborn and I have recently completed my school years and now studying as a mechanical engineer 😅
INFP here, this is helping me understand a lot of society because a lot of of guys i know seem like istp's
This was all so me. I prefer hands on things and like messing around with stuff but have sometimes kept away from it to not be singled out and because im new to it.
The part with being a lone wolf and immediately loyal to close friends is very accurate.
I'm not against doing new things but always need some kind of reassurance that i wont stick out as someone thats new to it.
Other then that, all of this hit spot on. Way more accurate than zodiac shit thats for sure
So are we introverted and extroverted at some times
I don't know if i'm wrong here and i know they are both fictinaol characters but this just might be the personalities that Jotaro Kujo from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Stardust Crusaders and Kazuto Kirigaya from Sword Art Online wow to think I became fond of watching their personalities shine and play off. This is a well done explained educational video. Kudos and thank you eveyone for helping me learn. Then again I never hated those 2 characters I liked them instead. I hope I'm not angering or saddening anyone here when I mention 2 animes that I like who others seem to hate.
the self taught thing is so true for me
This is so accurate it’s terrifying
WOW THIS IS SO ACCURATE!!!
Very accurate! ISTP here!
I was an INTP for years, went through a "shift" and thought, I should take it again. Here I am. This is seeming pretty accurate though.
Agree. Only part of this I don't think is accurate.
yes, i'm an istp and i/m pretty good with my words. maybe due to self learns
Agree. I'm not usually a big talker, but I can communicate just fine when talking or writing. The rest seemed to fit pretty well.
Holy shit that is accurate
I think routines and schedules aren't bad, but it needs to be on my own terms and subject to change.
When I got this result in 16 Personalities I reaaaly can't believe it because I really don't like being outside on the field and some ohter things don't really match me....but there are things that are true too 🤣🤣
I took the test twice. Both came out the same. I dislike DIY stuff. But then.. I had to set up some IKEA furniture and apparently i quite enjoyed it 🤣 go figure
@3:29 is it a totally ISTP trait to hate that 'self-determined' is in that illustration twice in different fonts? Is it ISTP to have wanted to pause on that and see what is said in the first place?!
I have always tested as an INFJ, personality hacker's test gave me ISTP and I'm floored. At first I was like, no way, I know what I am, but I'm starting to be swayed!
tbh i dont think careers/professions are the same with everyone, because im an istp and i have no interest in mechanics etc
This is fvckin' accurate with my personality
Help, I took multiple personality tests and some on different sites than 16 personalities and it kept repeatedly giving me istp😭 like yeah i can kind of relate but definitely not fully😭 I do not relate with daring and trusting myself💀
You might be an enneagram 6.
So i think IT sounds like something an ISTP like me would like to do?
Okay for my ISTP boyfriend, yes he loves food 🍗.😂 He is no jock/athlete, in fact quite lazy besides weekly fishing and occasional deer hunting. He doesn't tinker with things taking them apart to figure out how it works and puts it back together. He is very optimistic and laid back easy going. He doesn't try to stay fit in any way shape or form, LMFAO. He is sometimes impulsive but not pumped on adrenaline or risking his life doing things that will land him in the ER. (Besides stupid teenage boy stuff like betting his friend couldn't choke him to make him pass out. He's not into technician or plumbing physical and tinkering fix it jobs. I know he is ISTP as he hates being tied down, is go with the flow, likes keeping his options open as long as possible, very logic oriented with his decision (besides his occasional impulsive purchases and food choices that affect his stomach). He is very down to earth, realistic, stick to the facts. Plus is definitely introverted hates busy restaurants, crowded parties, would rather watch a Netflix movie at home alone or with me by ourselves both of us just focusing on the movie without talking.- INTJ♀️
4:21 Basically, Michael Jordan with 3 seconds left in the 4th quarter, down a point. “Give me the ball and get out of the way..” (INFJ here.. respectfully)
it's scary how accurate this video described me
"Verbal talents tend to go underdeveloped" 😩
As an ISTP-A this is so accurate.
Holy crap that was accurate. Just took a test and learned I am an ISTP and am checking it out.
Two of my favourite actors are ISTPS - Harrison Ford (aka Han Solo/Indy Jones) and Tom “Maverick” Cruise (Ethan Hunt) and an iOS Apple fanboy, Steve Jobs
I spend a lot of time thinking about the meaning of it all though, well we can't fit people in a box
How dare you explain who I am almost perfectly
this is highly accurate
An infj who has an istp sibling, this is pretty accurate of a description 🤣
I got this on my personality test. I resonate with this but also have my doubts. For some reason, when it comes to personality tests, I simply doubt nearly, maybe every question but when I try to think about the question, I simply draw a blank, I truly don’t know what my personality is, like yeah I can be an act emotionally but I can also be rational about things, although I feel as if I’m more emotional, but idk (self doubt again) I feel as if these tests need to put you in scenarios and have you answer according to those scenarios, because it’s hard for me to answer such vague, open ended questions.
One thing I can tell you after this comment, you are 100% no ISTP. 😂
@@derek4177 LOL
If I think like an ISTP but don’t act like one usually, what am I?
Hi I'm using this video for reference in a paper I'm writing. There was a lot of claims that sounded like fact but there is no sources listed. Is this video based on research or is there a scholarly article it's referencing?
Lol'ed when it listed Vladimir Putin, Donald Rumsfeld, and Tom Cruise as my fellow ISTPs. Never felt more proud.
Wow my boyfriend is an ISTP and this has helped a lot 😅 I am a ESFJ and we are the perfect match
As an OPS typed ISTP... I approve this message.
How do istps find partners, cause we seem like we’re p difficult to live with 😂, seriously has anyone found success or are we better off sólo or in casual/ noncommittal relationships
true tho😂 i also can't imagine myself being in relationships but I can imagine live with roommates. maybe we have to find other introverts/ ambiverts that can match our personality. I have a best friend who also an opposite of me in terms of everything but she can match my personal space well (u know how much and istp need a personal space😌). so maybe that's the clue I guess? a person who didn't care much as us and respectful?
Look for an ISFP partner. Will be a great partner.
I love my ISTP ! I am ESFJ
0:46 really makes me think my life was already set in stone the moment I was born
Nice however it still feels like a Box and Subjectiveness is still a huge factor.
They had me take this test in JROTC at the time it lined up, but I didn’t think too much of it looking back now it’s kinda scary
