  • X-trail overnight camp, coffee, fire, our basic setup, quality time with the wife - Trip videos
Left the kids with their granny and took the wife for an overnight trip. Last time we we're on our own camping was 15yrs ago!
In this video, you'll see our setup when sleeping in the X-trail. Also, if you remember my review video of our Ecoflow lithium battery, I was excited to test it out in real world. I have taken it on two short trips and so far I am very happy with it. You'll see clips of it in this video as I show the charge and recharge status. Run our 15L fridge from around 3pm to 11:30am the following day no charge and it still had 44% left. Plugged in my 150 solar blanket (not full sun) and it was charging more than it was drawing every time the compressor of the fridge would kick in. I have learnt how to charge this faster so another video to come up about this on another video.

A week ago I bought a 2009 Ti in very good condition. Today was the first time I drove it a reasonable distance on dirt and was pleasantly surprised how well-mannered it is.
My only concern is it has a CVT and so I'm not keen on driving it too hard. I can't see myself attempting some of the driving in the video.
I bought the car because I needed a work vehicle with a large carrying capacity (for light loads), but I can't quite justify the need for a true 4x4 at this stage.
Was very fortunate to get the car for a lot less than market value. Odometer is in the high 200,000's, but service records show it was serviced every 10,000 up until 50,000 ago. I do know it has been serviced since then too, but just not sure the frequency. Tomorrow it's booked in for one with the mechanic who's be looking after it for last couple of years.
Since car is in such good nick, I figure I might spend a bit on it with the idea of it being my daily drive for a number of years. No radical mods, just upgrade the current laughably small nudge bar to something more substantial.
Not sure about wheels and tyres. Getting something off the shelf isn't a straightforward exercise if I ever want any kind of aggressive tread pattern and a sensible sidewall.
Car came with goodies like Rhino Racks, ARB awning, chrome sidesteps, light-bar and tow bar (complete with two different lighting sockets), so that frees me up to concentrate on fitting new suspension parts (lift kit?)
My lifestyle also means I need something that will take me places and let me camp and explore solo. This thing will do that and in style too if I open the sunroof...

    Lol,
My wife and I was just talking about doing this for one night also, after watching another channel that specialises with this type of setting. Normally we go for 3 or 5 days straight. But sometimes it's just great to pack the car for one night... Keep things light and easy! Nice filming!!!👍

I had X-trail T30 and my height is 182 cm. It was challenging to sleep inside the car in a boot space with rear chairs down, not enough length, and my legs were not resting at night. It seems tall people need some very long Volvo estate to sleep inside normally

These xtrails are capable of a bit more than what people realise with a few basic mods. This channel has a video showing what he has done. Of course it’s not a Patrol or Landcruiser but it’s a cheap way to do some basic 4wd.

Hey they are way more capable than you think. As what Dan T said, it's not gonna be like a Patrol or Cruiser but it is a very practical all around vehicle. Have a look at my recent 'Ultimate 4wd compilation video' if you haven't yet and you'll be surprised what it can do. After all that 4wding, touch wood haven't broken anything and only done normal maintenance. It is over 240,000kms now.

@@carlosr.2595 for tyre, I have the Ridge Ryder from Supercheapauto and the old model Kings from 4wdsupacentre. I would go for a mid range quality product for your use.
