  • A Day With Julz: Chicago Edition 1/20/15
So we decided to document every city we go to with an #ADayWithJulz segment. Naturally, our first city was none other than #MYami. The following week, I was booked to host a #305ToMyCity party in Chicago at Dolphin. Mel's brother recently moved to Chicago & Faith claims it is one of her favorite cities to hang in, so I decided to make this one a team field trip- and we brought Norma along for the ride too. The trip started off with a stop by Joe's Fresh Goods so we could get some
cool jackets before my party. The creative ladies of Verluxe invited us by their video shoot for Vic Mensa's new song, so we slid by the cool artist loft they were filming in before grabbing a bite at the new 7 story Soho House in downtown (which is by far the coolest soho house of them all, by the way.) So far the city was inspiring & beautiful. The people were cool & the food was great, just as I had been warned it would be.
We stayed until so that we could film a full day of activities for the #ADayWithJulz segment- only this week, we would go about spending our time a bit differently. We did have intentions of hitting the museum & the aquarium (which I hear is incredible) but they we simply ran out of time. Our main priority of the day was to meet Malcom London, Diane Latiker & Camiella Williams...three people who have dedicated their lives to making Chicago a better place for young people to live & thrive in.
We began our day with breakfast at the Public House, our wonderful hotel that was kind of likes cooler, more hip version of Soho( shout out to Virgil for the recommendation).
We studied up on young Malcom while eating our eggs, whom I must say is an extremely talented, captivating young man. He uses spoken word and poetry to speak out about issues within the community & does it so beautifully I found myself crying mid you tube video. We packed up & headed over to the Student Center where he & his group was having a meeting... watch the video and stay tuned for the launch of the new YesJulz.com website where I will debut Chicago Part 2 & you can read the full blog on my experience there.
Hope you enjoy :) Leave comments below I would love some feedback & constructive criticism!
& shout out to Faith & her company Von Jovey Productions on being a queen & putting this together so nicely :)
